Structural health monitoring (SHM) and non-destructive testing (NDT) have gained significant importance for civil, mechanical, aerospace, and offshore structures. Nowadays, we can find SHM and NDT applications being used on various structures with very different requirements. However, the practical implementation of strategies for the detection of structural damage to real structures outside of laboratory conditions is always one of the most demanding tasks for engineers. Moreover, the processing and interpretation of the massive amount of data generated through the long-term monitoring of large and complex structures (e.g., bridges, buildings, ships, aircrafts, wind turbines, pipes, etc.) has become an emerging challenge that needs to be addressed by the community. This Topic brings together the most established as well as newly emerging SHM and NDT approaches that can be used for the detection and evaluation of defects and damage development in large-scale or full-scale structures. After a strict peer-review process, 44 papers were published, which represent the most recent progress of SHM and NDT methods/techniques for aerospace, civil, mechanical, and offshore infrastructures.

Der zweite Abschnitt handelt von dem Energiestoffwechsel. Beim dritten Abschnitt handelt es sich um eine kleine Erläuterung der Grundsätze der Ernährung. Hier wird auf die Makro- und Mikronährstoffe eingegangen. Im vierten Abschnitt widmen wir uns der lebensstilbedingten Krankheit der Fettleibigkeit. Hier wird die Fettleibigkeit gänzlich erläutert und das Phänomen dieser wird schlüssig erklärt. Die Abschnitte fünf und sechs untermauern die schützende Wirkung von Bewegung und Ernährung. In diesen Abschnitten wird die Frage der schützenden Wirkung mithilfe der wissenschaftlichen Evidenz beantwortet, um den aktuellen Konsens der Wissenschaft zu erlangen. Die Hausarbeit zielt darauf ab, das Verständnis für die komplexen Zusammenhänge zwischen Bewegung, Ernährung und Fettleibigkeit zu vertiefen. So wird die Frage aufgeworfen, ob die schützende Wirkung von Bewegung und Ernährung wirksam ist und inwiefern die Evidenz das unterstützt.

Plant tissue culture is an important and continually emerging field applied to improve the production, propagation, and conservation of cultivated and wild plant species. This Special Issue of Horticulturae belongs to the section "Propagation and Seeds" and is dedicated to recent developments in in vitro tissue culture technologies and their use in micropropagation, in vitro plant regeneration, and the germplasm conservation of horticultural crops. The papers in this Reprint have been peer reviewed by experts and guest editors and published in Horticulturae in full open access. Metallic implants have attracted a great deal of attention due to their importance in terms of enhancing the quality of human lives and treating human diseases. However, their instability in vivo, caused by corrosion, limited mechanical properties, and poor biocompatibility, remains a great challenge yet to be solved-which is important because the stability of metallic implants is closely associated with the clinical performance of medical implants. This topic has, therefore, attracted increasing levels of attention from researchers in recent decades and the great advances have been achieved. In order to provide a platform to communicate the latest findings of researchers, to broaden understanding and to deepen insights into "advances in the stability of metallic implants", we organized a Special Issue focused on this topic and ten articles have to date been published in the journal Metals. With the aim of facilitating reader access and ongoing research, we have compiled and published 10 articles from this Special Issue.

Because light is a wave and the energy in the wave cannot converge to a certain point, which he called light quanta. Secondly, he could not say what brings that energy together. What exactly that energy is, and why it depends on the frequency of the light wave, he could not tell. This Special Issue compiles11 research papers published in the field of forestry and wood processing technology. In particular, this Special Issue highlights the research on timber saw, biomass and waste from resinous branches, forest by-products, log exploitation, the primary processing of round wood in timber with a band saw, the quality of exploited wood, and the role of the forest and forest ecosystem on the environment. Regarding wood science processes, this Special Issue presents works on cutting round wood in timber and veneers, technology 4.0, the manufacture of furniture and musical instruments, acoustical properties, wood biomass, including briquettes and pellets, thermochemical treatments of wood and pellets, finishing processes, and the restoration of cultural heritage objects using classical technologies and chemical materials. A lot of material waste was used to obtain better composites or chemical substances to obtain wood-based composites with better properties and low-level formaldehyde emission.

Iron deficiency (ID) and iron deficiency anemia (IDA) are global problems that affect more than 2 billion people, accounting for significant mortality annually worldwide. Children, girls, and women of reproductive age are particularly vulnerable to ID and IDA due to their high physiological iron demands. The consequences of IDA include deleterious effects on cognition, mental function, work performance, and pregnancy outcomes. The causes of IDA include low iron intake and poor iron bioavailability from ingested foods. Inflammation and human diseases that are associated with high levels of hepcidin (the hormone that regulates the iron efflux protein, ferroportin) due to mutation in a serine protease, TMPRSS6, can also cause iron deficiency. Practical strategies aimed at preventing anemia include iron supplementation and the fortification of foods. Novel iron compounds that are aimed at averting complications such as irritation and inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract are being synthesized. On the other hand, concerns about the mandatory iron fortification of foods in segments of the population that are predisposed to the consequences of excess tissue iron toxicity can be addressed through administration of iron chelators.
