Befürworter eines erhöhten Männeranteils argumentieren, die Parität der Geschlechter (in der Erziehung) sei ein wünschenswerter Schritt zur Gleichstellung, neue Arbeitsmarktbereiche müssten auf Grund der sinkenden männlichen Erwerbsbeteiligung für Männer zugänglich gemacht werden oder der Mann bringe ein ¿männliches Element¿ in die Erziehung ein. Diese Argumente sind umstritten und bedürften jeweils einer eigenen vertiefende Analyse.Thema dieser Arbeit ist ein weiteres interessantes Argument, welches in der Debatte etwas im Hintergrund steht: Durch einen erhöhten Männeranteil im Sozial- und Bildungsbereich können Rollenbilder erweitert und Geschlechtsstereotype abgebaut werden. Dieses Argument wird unter anderem vom Bundesministerium für Familie, Senioren, Frauen und Jugend (BMFSFJ) vorgetragen. Inwiefern dieses Argument stichhaltig ist, wird im Verlauf der Arbeit gezeigt. Die Erweiterung und Lockerung von Rollenbildern aufgrund eines erhöhten Männeranteiles wird von Kritikern oft als unmöglich und von Befürwortern häufig als einfach und unkompliziert dargestellt. Einfach ist es nicht. Ein erhöhter Männeranteil trägt viel Chancen und Potenziale in sich; bei der Durchführung gibt jedoch einiges zu beachten, um dieses Potenzial angemessen zu entfalten.
