Although the story is true, the character's names and places have been changed. Because of their family connections back in Italy, a young couple find themselves as keepers of a "e;safe house"e; for fugitives or businessmen trying to change their identity. While in the same town, a group of young men form a social club. The deeds of these young men are good, but their means are not. They made money by running a lottery numbers program. They were able to provide financial assistance to the needy and to their club. In adulthood, some of them follow a not so legal path and their deeds become evil.

This volume of The Dark Corners is not unlike the previous three. As with the others, you will find information here not found anywhere else. This volume is slightly different though, with much attention given to what I consider leftovers and loose ends. I have also addressed some additional aspects of the Lindbergh kidnapping in which many have expressed interest. This includes a chapter on the "e;spy"e; Jacob Nosovitsky and one on Violet Sharp, a topic that I have avoided-until now.

"e;The Boxer"e; is a fictional crime novel based on Detective Ellis H. Parker's career, a real detective who was commonly called America's Sherlock Holmes during his lifetime.
