William Girdler¿s career was short, lasting just six years but even by the standards of those who toil away in the exploitation arena, he was extremely prolific, making nine features between 1972 and 1978, when he was killed in a helicopter crash in the jungle outside Manila, aged only thirty. He specialized in making the kind of films which attract the rabid cult fan, from the occult horror of his low-budget debut Asylum of Satan to the more accomplished - but even more bizarre - The Manitou in a journey that took him from Louisville, Kentucky to the Philippines via Hollywood. This is the first book about Girdler¿s films and includes contributions from a number of his collaborators, as well as extracts from treatments for some of his unmade projects. From Satan to Pam Grier and from a killer bear to a resurrected medicine man, this is the Wild World of William Girdler. This work is the result of studies for TDAUP - Diploma Work in Architecture, Urbanism and Landscaping from the Architecture and Urbanism course at UNIVAG in 2017. Its aim is to create a proposal for an architectural project aimed at the elderly in the city centre of Cuiabá. Through research that explores the growth rates of this population and, above all, exposes the city's lack of spaces that solve and contribute to improving the quality of life of the elderly community, in various dimensions of life, including: environmental, social interaction and accessibility. The study analyses existing models of long-term housing in the city, looking at the treatment methods implemented, taking into account the positive aspects on which the project was based, as well as the negative aspects refuted in the proposal. The methodology used to design the project sought to integrate the elderly into society by including spaces that were attractive to the public. To this end, the blocks were modelled in the vernacular style of Cuiabá, recreating the environments in which the elderly spent a large part of their lives.

Ce travail est le résultat des études pour le TDAUP - Travail de diplôme en architecture, urbanisme et paysagisme du cours d'architecture et d'urbanisme de l'UNIVAG en 2017. L'étude analyse les modèles existants de logement à long terme dans la ville, en examinant les méthodes de traitement mises en ¿uvre, en tenant compte des aspects positifs sur lesquels le projet est basé, ainsi que des aspects négatifs réfutés dans la proposition. La méthodologie utilisée pour concevoir le projet visait à intégrer les personnes âgées dans la société en incluant des espaces attrayants pour le public. À cette fin, les blocs ont été modelés dans le style vernaculaire de Cuiabá, recréant ainsi les environnements dans lesquels les personnes âgées ont passé une grande partie de leur vie.

Diese Arbeit ist das Ergebnis der Studien für TDAUP - Diplomarbeit in Architektur, Städtebau und Landschaftsgestaltung des Studiengangs Architektur und Städtebau an der UNIVAG im Jahr 2017. Ihr Ziel ist es, einen Vorschlag für ein architektonisches Projekt für ältere Menschen im Stadtzentrum von Cuiabá zu erstellen. Durch eine Untersuchung, die die Wachstumsraten dieser Bevölkerung erforscht und vor allem den Mangel an Räumen in der Stadt aufdeckt, die die Lebensqualität der älteren Bevölkerung in verschiedenen Dimensionen des Lebens verbessern, darunter: Umwelt, soziale Interaktion und Zugänglichkeit. Die Studie analysiert die in der Stadt existierenden Modelle des Langzeitwohnens und untersucht die angewandten Behandlungsmethoden unter Berücksichtigung der positiven Aspekte, auf denen das Projekt basiert, sowie der negativen Aspekte, die im Vorschlag widerlegt wurden. Bei der Konzeption des Projekts wurde versucht, die älteren Menschen in die Gesellschaft zu integrieren, indem Räume geschaffen wurden, die für die Öffentlichkeit attraktiv sind. Zu diesem Zweck wurden die Wohnblöcke im landestypischen Stil von Cuiabá gestaltet, um die Umgebung nachzubilden, in der die älteren Menschen einen großen Teil ihres Lebens verbracht haben.

Diese Publikation bringt der Öffentlichkeit ein wenig von dem Wissen, das die Tätigkeit des Bühnenilluminators ausmacht. So können all jene, die etwas über diese Tätigkeit erfahren möchten, und auch jene, die Illuminator werden wollen, Informationen sammeln, die sie zu ihren ersten Schritten führen werden. Between 1532 and 1536/37, the Dutch artist Maarten van Heemskerck traveled to Rome. Most of the drawings created there were made by van Heemskerck in a sketchbook that he filled with motifs as he wandered through the city, and whose original binding has been lost. Thanks to state-of-the-art technology, researchers at the Berlin Kupferstichkabinett have now largely reconstructed the original sequence of the book's pages. This forms the basis of the present facsimile. In his fascinating studies, van Heemskerck captured the ancient sculptures, ruins, and Roman cityscapes. His sketches display a refined eye for composition and perspective as well as an extraordinary sensibility of drawing. In the sketchbook, the artist developed a space for individual experimentation, as well as a valuable trove of motifs from which he would draw throughout his life. MAARTEN VAN HEEMSKERCK (1498-1574) was one of the most famous Dutch painters of the sixteenth century. Today he is best known for his magnificent Roman drawings.

Roland Ostertag (1931-2018) zählte in den 1960er- und 1970er-Jahren zu den bedeutenden Architekten für öffentliche Gebäude. Seine Rathäuser beispielsweise in Bad Friedrichshall oder Kaiserslautern sind bekannte Vertreter dieses Bautyps, der einen Schwerpunkt seines Schaffens bildete. Ebenso bemerkenswert sind die nicht ausgeführten Entwürfe, die (nicht nur) in der Fachpresse große Aufmerksamkeit erhielten. Charakteristisch für seine Bauten sind bis ins Detail gestaltete Sichtbetonoberflächen, die im Inneren mit Holzelementen kombiniert wurden. Ostertag besaß den Anspruch, mit den Rathäusern die Stadtzentren, die sich teilweise noch im Wiederaufbau befanden, aufzuwerten. Zahlreiche dieser Rathäuser sind inzwischen als Kulturdenkmale ausgewiesen und unterstreichen damit diesen Anspruch.

Aus Anlaß des 80. Geburtstags von Johannes Koder (*1942) bringen Freunde, Wegbegleiter, Schüler und Kollegen diese Festschrift dar, deren Beiträge sich inhaltlich auf jene Forschungsinteressen des Jubilars beziehen, die er als Professor für Byzantinistik an der Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz (1978-1985) und ordentlicher Professor der Byzantinistik an der Universität Wien (1985-2010) stets mit großem Eifer, Enthusiasmus und Originalität in Lehre und Forschung vertreten hat.
