Pivot (noun) A fixed point supporting something which turns or balances or a thing on which something else depends... (American Dictionary) Pivot (verb): to change your opinions, statements, decisions, etc., so that they are different to what they were before: (Cambridge Dictionary) This word, pivot, was around long before COVID-19 hit; but it certainly found more wide-spread acceptance and its use expanded once we were locked down. We are not certain of when it became a world pandemic, and frankly that doesn't matter. It is and it has impacted us tremendously. As I write and edit contributions for this latest book, we are still in a world-wide COVID-19 pandemic. Cities, states, and countries are in lockdown around the globe. Businesses are closed and workers are sitting at home, worried and waiting for it to work its way out (we hope!). Second waves are now hitting. Governments are playing catch up, most having been caught totally unprepared, flat-footed, to lead and to cope with this global emergency. By the time it has worked its way out, millions will die. Not a fun scene, by any means. Also important in this crisis are the long-range economic impacts of that shut down. No travel, little manufacturing, only essential businesses remain open (like groceries, pharmacies, hardware stores, etc.) This is a serious challenge for those of us in business if we want to survive and stay in business over the long-haul. And, we now have the time to work on it! Disruption has changed our lives, both personal and corporate, as we know them! Overnight, businesses have shuttered their doors, laid off their staff, and turned off their lights. Overnight, businesses have had to pivot to survive.Overnight, many workers and leaders have been thrust into the digital, virtually interconnected world. Working from home, in physical isolation, became our new norm. How will we adapt and deal with this new global challenge? The results are yet to be written and evaluated. But it is an exciting time too. Quite simply, we don't know yet. We are making it up as we go along, feeling our way, one day at a time in totally unchartered territories. Some of us had already started down this virtual path of digital connection, collaboration, and creation. For others, just thrust into this digitally changing world, the results remain to be seen. More than ever, we need to work together to find our way in this confusing new world. Suddenly being able to communicate, connect, and even conduct business in a virtual environment has become exceedingly important, even critical. We have had to mentally pivot to explore new ways to do all these important actions. I admit, I was a bit depressed when international engagements keep being postponed, canceled, or moved on-line. I had to get my mindset in adjustment that 'even though I was not able to travel, my ideas could', and they have. Like many of my speaking and training colleagues, I am exploring different ways to continue to deliver solid value to my clients - digital ways to connect, educate, and engage. My commitment to help my clients is as strong as ever, stronger, just the delivery methods have changed. This is a very real challenge for our business owners, sales professionals, and many who were sent home, or are now working from home face every day. Many are looking at making a pivot to a new job or career as their previous one evaporated and will most likely not return, even when COVID-19 is under control.

Injustement délaissée, mais comprenant que chez le coq la vanité est plus forte que l'amour, la faisane se sacrifie néanmoins pour lui et se porte à sa place au-devant d'un chasseur. Un coup part, mais c'est le rossignol à la voix d'or qui est blessé à mort. Le chant rauque du coq continuera seul à célébrer l'aube.

Masterarbeit aus dem Jahr 2022 im Fachbereich Theaterwissenschaft, Tanz, , Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Im 20. Jahrhundert wurden Shakespeare und seine Werke zu Topoi, die eine Auseinandersetzung mit verschiedenen gesellschaftlichen Forschungsschwerpunkten ermöglichten. In Anbetracht der thematischen Diversität waren Umschreibungen und Bearbeitungen von Shakespeares Dramen in diversen Zeitepochen gefragt, da mithilfe dieser elisabethschen Dramen die sozialen und kulturellen Diskurse erweitert werden können. Shakespeares dramatische Werke werden im Rahmen verschiedener kultureller Kontexte ständig mit neuen Bedeutungen und Konnotationen aufgeladen. Nach Michel Foucaults Ansicht breiten sich das ¿Licht des Krieges¿ und ¿die Geburt der Geschichte¿ von der Shakespearezeit ins 20. Jahrhundert aus. Daher waren von Mitte bis Ende des 20. Jahrhunderts die Shakespeare-Stücke auf den europäischen Bühnen mit politischen Metaphern und Gedanken über die Geschichte angereichert, dazu zählen vor allem Macbeth - Nach Shakespeare (im Folgenden als Macbeth abgekürzt) aus der Feder des DDR-Dramatikers Heiner Müller und Macbett von dem Franzosen Eugène Ionesco. Als Europa unter einer neuen politischen Landschaft in Tyrannei und Diktatur gestürzt wurde, kam es zu Revolten und blutigen Repressionen. Infolgedessen sind die deutsche und die französische dramatische Literatur der 1960er- und 1970er-Jahre durch ihre Verurteilung von Politik und Macht eng verbunden. So geht die Analyse von Heiner Müllers Macbeth und Eugène Ionescos Macbett in der vorliegenden Arbeit von der Ansichten von beiden Dramatiker über Shakespeares Werke aus. Danach folgen die ausführliche Dramenanalyse einschließlich der Merkmale der formalen und inhaltlichen Struktur, die Figurenanalyse und die dramaturgische Konzeptionen. Schließlich liegt der Schwerpunkt auf der Auseinandersetzung mit der jeweiligen Geschichtsauffassung in beiden Stücken.

Johann Joachim Quantz war über 30 Jahre lang Kammerkomponist des preußischen Königs Friedrich II. In dieser Zeit komponierte er - exklusiv für dessen abendliche Kammermusik - neben etlichen Flötenkonzerten auch 99 Flötensonaten. Diesem Sonatenkorpus nähert sich Susanne Schrage mit einer Synthese von philologischer Detailanalyse und eigenem flötistischen Embodiment. Mit diesem neuartigen methodischen Ansatz arbeitet sie die Komplexität von Quantz' Tempo-Systematik sowie die profilierten Charaktere seiner Sonatensätze heraus. Vor der kulturhistorischen Folie ihres Entstehungsrahmens entwirft sie ein Bild kontrastreicher Sonaten, deren Abwechslung außergewöhnlich genau auf das Instrument Traversflöte und auf das hohe spieltechnische Niveau und die Spielfreude des königlichen Adressaten zugeschnitten ist. Die Qualität und Quantität dieses Sonatenkorpus mit seiner differenzierten Verzierungs- und Artikulationspraxis weitet den Blick auf den ,guten Vortrag', wie ihn Quantz in seinem Versuch einer Anweisung die Flöte traversiere zu spielen lehrt.Die Studie leistet einen wichtigen Beitrag nicht nur zur Quantz-Forschung und zur Geschichte der musikalischen Praxis am Hofe Friedrichs des Großen, sondern vor allem zur historischen Interpretationsforschung. Seit dem Angriff der Hamas auf Israel am 7. Oktober steht der Nahostkonflikt einmal mehr im Mittelpunkt des Weltgeschehens. Der darauf folgende Krieg Israels gegen Gaza hat eine weltweite Solidaritätsbewegung mit den Palästinenser*innen ausgelöst, die in den westlichen kapitalistischen Staaten massiver staatlicher Repression ausgesetzt ist. Kritik am Staat Israel wird pauschal als antisemitisch gebrandmarkt. Differenzen zum Umgang mit dem Nahostkonflikt haben auch in der Linken und Arbeiter*innenbewegung zu Kontroversen und Spaltungstendenzen geführt. In diesem Sammelband werden marxistische Texte von Autor*innen der Sozialistischen Organisation Solidarität (Sol) und des Komitees für eine Arbeiter*inneninternationale (CWI), sowie deren trotzkistischen Vorgänger*innen in den 1940er Jahren veröffentlicht, die nicht nur eine marxistische Analyse der Entwicklungen seit der Gründung des Staates Israel 1948 darstellen, sondern auch programmatische und strategische Vorschläge für die palästinensische Befreiungsbewegung machen. Hier heben sich die Analysen und Positionen durch zwei Schlussfolgerungen von denen der meisten anderen linken Kräfte ab: Zum einen wird der Nahost-Konflikt als Teil der globalen imperialistischen und kapitalistischen Verhältnisse betrachtet und eine Lösung im Rahmen dieser Verhältnisse als unmöglich betrachtet, was die Autor*innen dazu bringt, den Kampf für das Selbstbestimmungsrecht der Palästinenser*innen mit dem Kampf für eine sozialistische Veränderung der Region zu verknüpfen. Zweitens wird anerkannt, dass sich in Israel eine Nation und eine Klassengesellschaft herausgebildet haben. Dies führt zu der Schlussfolgerung, dass auch die israelisch-jüdische Bevölkerung ein Selbstbestimmungsrecht haben muss und dass der Klassenkampf in Israel als ein wichtiger Faktor für eine Strategie zur Befreiung der Palästinenser*innen einbezogen werden muss. Die Texte in diesem Buch nehmen einen internationalistischen Klassenstandpunkt ein und können einen Kompass für alle darstellen, die sich in den letzten Wochen an Demonstrationen gegen Israels Angriff auf Gaza beteiligt haben und auf der Suche nach einem Weg zur Lösung des Nahost-Konflikts sind.

Inhaltlich sind es moralisch-satirische Lieder, Frühlings- und Liebeslieder, Minne- und Trinklieder sowie geistliche Dramen. Der Codex Buranus gehört zum Weltkulturerbe. Seine Relevanz liegt in der Internationalität der Sammlung, jenseits von Sprach- und Kulturgrenzen. Als wertvolles Zeugnis mittelalterlicher Kultur und europäischer Geschichte wirkt er bis heute, denn die Texte sind bis in unsere Tage atemberaubend wahr geblieben.Seit ihrer Wiederentdeckung sind die facettenreichen Texte immer wieder neu vertont worden: Im Allgemeinen Deutschen Kommersbuch von 1895 findet sich das Trinklied "Ecce gratum et optatum". Carl Orff war 1935 auf die Texte gestoßen und verarbeitete sie zu seinem gleichnamigen Chorwerk. Andere Ensembles, die sich eher einer historischen Aufführungspraxis verpflichtet fühlen, versuchten sich an Rekonstruktionen der originalen Melodien aus den spärlich überlieferten Neumen-Notierungen. Peter Schindlers Komposition ist eine neue musikalische Annäherung an die vielschichtigen lateinischen Gedichte in einer Tonsprache des 21. Wem ist bekannt, dass man bei der Fahrt von Agadir nach Tafraoute im Antiatlas an einigen bis zu ca. 800 Jahre alten "Berberburgen" fast in Sichtweite vorbei fährt? Marokko ist geografisch so nah und dennoch weit weg. Obwohl preiswert und schnell mit dem Flugzeug erreichbar ist dieses abwechslungsreiche Land - zumindest jenseits der Touristenpfade - für uns weitgehend unbekannt geblieben. Seine lange Geschichte, Tradition und Kultur - durchaus vergleichbar mit der europäischen - hat im gesamten Königreich Spuren hinterlassen. Nicht nur traumhafte Landschaften mit vielen Besonderheiten und Launen der Natur sind hier in Millionen von Jahren entstanden. Prachtvolle Paläste, märchenhafte Kasbahs und weltfremde Speicherburgen wurden uns aus vergangenen Zeiten in unterschiedlichen Erhaltungszuständen überlassen.
