Die Berliner Künstlerin Julie Legouez veröffentlicht im März 2024 ihre erste Publikation, die sich dem sensiblen Thema häusliche Gewalt und der Bewältigung von Traumata widmet. Das Buch mit dem Titel "The Cure" gliedert sich in zehn Kapitel, in denen Legouez ihre persönliche Verarbeitung als Betroffene von häuslicher Gewalt aufzeigt. Legouez präsentiert akribisch gesammelte Details in einer "Akte", die als Grundlage für die grafische Ausgestaltung und den Aufbau des Buches dienen.Häusliche Gewalt bleibt ein gesellschaftliches Problem von hoher Relevanz, und "The Cure" bietet einen persönlichen Einblick in diese Thematik. Julie Legouez sieht in ihrer Publikation einen Beitrag zur Debatte über häusliche Gewalt und Trauma-Bewältigung.

The first amateur motion picture camera was massively produced in 1923, shortly after the introduction of 9,5 mm film by the Pathé Frères in France 101 years ago, in December 1922, and of 16 mm film by the Eastman Kodak Company in America a month later. The present collection depicts 101 movie cameras manufactured between the 1920s and the 1980s, most using 8 mm perforated celluloid film. A full-page 'portrait' of each model is accompanied by an exposé of its main technical specifications on the facing page. Weil die eigene Geschichte der Tabernaswüste kaum sichtbare Spuren im Sand zwischen den Sträuchern hinterlassen hat, eignet sie sich besonders, um in ihr andere Geschichten, historische Ereignisse, Ausgedachtes und Angedichtetes zu inszenieren.   Die Ruinen von Exodus enthält fotografische Arbeiten von Disqué, die sowohl den visuellen Eindruck dieser Landschaft abbilden, als auch dabei helfen, durch Collageverfahren die Effekte der Filme und die tatsächliche Geschichte der Tabernaswüste darzustellen. Ruins of the Movie Industry and an Attempt to Come Face to Face with a Place.  For their third joint book project, the photographer Michael Disqué and the writer Roman Ehrlich traveled to the Tabernas desert in Andalusia, where they encountered Wild West theme parks and the ruins of old film sets that directors like Sergio Leone had erected in the Spanish hinterland for productions of their Westerns. The Tabernas desert's own history has left few visible traces in the sand between the shrubs, making it an ideal blank canvas for the staging of other stories, historic events, fictions and fabrications.  Die Ruinen von Exodus (The Ruins of Exodus) contains photographic works by Disqué that capture visual impressions of the scenery while using techniques of collage to convey the dizzying effects of interference between the films and the actual history of the Tabernas desert. Ehrlich's writings probe the connections between the film productions realized in the desert and the real landscape and trace the manifold projections back to the origins of their imagery.  The two artists' most recent venture in participant observation, Die Ruinen von Exodus is also an attempt to bring out the movie industry with its addiction to glaring light on the stage of a book together with the austere landscape's underexposed own history. Disqué and Ehrlich went out into the desert as spectators and readers and returned with a bag of rusty cans and a multitude of signifiers, images, and stories rendered in these page

Jakob Kudsk Steensen (geb. 1987 in Dänemark; lebt und arbeitet in Berlin) schafft immersive Installationen, die oftmals übersehene oder bedrohte Ökosysteme durch virtuelle Simulationen zum Leben erwecken. Geburtstages des Malers in der Hamburger Kunsthalle präsentierten - Arbeit setzt sich Steensen mit einem eindrucksvollen Naturphänomen auseinander: den Ephemeral Lakes, periodisch auftretenden Wasseransammlungen in trockenen, kargen, oft wüstenartigen Landschaften. Dafür schafft der Künstler eine Installation bestehend aus Video-, Sound-, Licht- und skulpturalen Elementen. Die Klangkomposition des Projektes entstand in enger Zusammenarbeit mit Okkyung Lee und Lugh O'Neill.   Die Publikation The Ephemeral Lake eröffnet Einblicke in die Forschungsreisen des Künstlers zu den ephemeren Seen in den Wüstenregionen der USA. Essays von Claire L. Evans, Liz Stumpf und Ulrich Schrauth führen in Steensens künstlerische Praxis ein. In einem Gespräch mit dem Autor und Kurator Shumon Basar spricht der Künstler über einige seiner Inspirationsquellen: Videospiele, Landschaftsmalerei und Science-Fiction. Kudsk Steensen's latest work is inspired by Caspar David Friedrich and presented at Hamburger Kunsthalle on the occasion of the painter's 250th anniversary. It investigates a captivating natural phenomenon: ephemeral lakes, bodies of water that periodically appear in arid, barren, and often desert-like landscapes. The artist has created a site-specific installation for the Kunsthalle, consisting of video, sound, light, and sculptural elements. The soundscape was developed in close collaboration with Okkyung Lee and Lugh O'Neill.  The publication The Ephemeral Lake offers a gateway into the multilayered world and the starting point of the project-research trips to the ephemeral lakes of the desert regions in the US undertaken by the artist. Essays by Claire L. Evans, Liz Stumpf, and Ulrich Schrauth further give an introduction to the artist's visionary practice. In a conversation with writer and curator Shumon Basar the artist talks about his sources of inspiration: videogaming, landscape painting, and science fiction. The book presents a selection of the photographic work made in Naples by Anders Petersen, Swedish master of photography, during Spot home gallery's first artist residency in the year 2022. Throughout his long career, Petersen has photographed in cities across almost every continent, from Tokyo to London, from Valparaiso to Stockholm, driven by an inexhaustible curiosity and a profound interest for the other.
