From the 1960s to the 1980s Charlotte March was one of the leading international fashion photographers. The major retrospective at Deichtorhallen Hamburg lays the foundation for the rediscovery of this iconic photographer's oeuvre and offers a comprehensive overview of all her creative periods for the first time. From her little-known early work, inspired by the Humanist Photography movement, that reveals her sensitive eye for the margins of society in post-war Hamburg, to her journeys to Italy in the 1960s, as well as her highly-influential fashion and advertising photography. The narrative of her imagery for magazines such as twen, Stern, Harper's Bazaar, Vanity Fair, Elle, and Vogue reveals an emancipatory attitude and evokes the notion of a new lifestyle and the social upheaval of the 1960s. The exhibition and catalogue illuminate March's multifaceted work and attest to her status as one of the most important female photographers of the second half of the 20th century.Born in Essen, CHARLOTTE MARCH (1929-2005) studied at the Alsterdamm School of Art in Hamburg. Beginning as a fashion illustrator and graphic designer, she decided for a career as a photographer in 1956. Her estate, comprising nearly 7.000 works, has been part of the Falckenberg Collection since 2006.

The publication highlights contemporary takes on photograms, chemigrams, and lumen printing, which all hark back to the early days of photography. Text in English and German.

Transformation processes are the focus of Georg Aerni's new photographs. The Swiss photographer and artist shows plastic greenhouses that have annexed whole swathes of land for agricultural mass production, residential houses that have been built overnight on the city outskirts without construction machines and literally noiselessly. He points his lens at olive trees that have grown over centuries into figures full of character, at creepers that conquer leftover spaces between high-rises and motorways, and at mighty rock faces that are being gnawed by erosion. With the merging of art and documentation that is typical of Aerni's work, Georg Aerni-Silent Transition makes the signs of change the object of a contemplative observation and at the same time asks challenging questions: about our handling of natural resources, about the social backgrounds to cities growing out of control, about the regenerative force of nature. A decade after Aerni's first monograph, Sites & Signs, this new book showcases the artist's ongoing continuation of his photographic work through numerous individual images as well as new series. 166 beautiful color and black-and-white plates are introduced through texts by Peter Pfrunder and Nadine Olonetzky and commented on with an essay by Sabine von Fischer.

Search 2021 is a published conceptual artwork that is a comprehensive documentation of the artist, Joshua Hashemzadeh's, internet search history. This book is a single volume (Vol.1) out of 4 that records one year's worth of searches done during the 2021 calendar year. Which parts of you live online? And which parts don't? The oddity of engaging with the intangible is something we have normalized, lusted for, and feared, as our digital footprint and virtual ecosystems have matured to scale - It's this contemplation that inspires my ongoing series, "SEARCH," a collection of performance-driven art books that archive and materialize all of my time on the web. This three-volume set, comprising over 1,000 pages of searches, documents the curiosities, inspirations, and methodology behind my studio practice and life as an artist from Jan. 1 - Dec.31, 2021. Originally started in 2015 after the completion of my undergraduate program at SFAI, this endeavor aims to build an immersive library that documents my web history over the course of my life. Although developed as a loose bibliography for my artistic practice I find these objects can exist sculpturally on their own. These artworks reflect on time and physical mass in a visceral, and ubiquitous manner that I harken back to early inspirations like On Kawara and Richard Serra. Search 2021 touches on similar sculptural principles and further connects to the notion of a "body" as it moves through digital space. I love knowing that as my archive gets longer, the work will inevitably get bigger. At some point as I age the work will outsize my physical presence and hold more information than I can ever remember. At that point, it becomes questionable which object represents us best, the body, or the history it leaves behind.
