Female View puts the focus on women fashion photography. Although this medium has been shaped by female photographers for decades, a large number of publications or exhibitions have focused primarily on the male gaze of the female body. Numerous female fashion photographers worked for influential magazines such as Harper's Bazaar or Vogue, thus shaping the style of their time. Using exemplary positions, this book traces the transformation of the photographic image from the 1940s to the present day: from the fashion magazine to the showroom and the coffee table book to videos and digital self-staging in social media today. On display will be works by: Lillian Bassman, Sibylle Bergemann, Louise Dahl-Wolfe, Madame d'Ora, GABO, Ingeborg Hoppe, Nadine Ijewere, Liv Liberg, Ute Mahler, Charlotte March, Lee Miller, Sarah Moon, Amber Pinkerton, Elizaveta Porodina, Regina Relang, Bettina Rheims, Charlotte Rohrbach, Alice Springs (June Newton), Deborah Turbeville, Ellen von Unwerth and Yva.

  • von Julie Crawford
    45,00 €

As author and photographer, Julie Crawford takes you on her adventurous journey through the path of self-discovery. Fueled by lyrical verses, Mother Nature's churches, and undeniably fated interactions with kindred spirits, she wanders throughout her inner wilderness mapping out roads that connect mind, body, and soul.Eight years ago in February 2014, with the northern lights in Alaska as witness, she made a promise to herself: be brave enough to step into my divine power. With the commitment to her truth, shadow work, emotional depth, intentional living, and vulnerability, she creates a fulfilling life as she consistently chooses to show up as her favorite version of the authentic self.In Tuesdays, Heartbreaks, and Soulmates, she shares fragments of time that have weaved themselves into the celestial fibers of her existence. As the pages turn and seasons change, she reflects on moments where she felt the essence of honest connection and was reminded that the love she seeks has lived within herself all along-the kind of love that brings *you* home.

A vivid, imaginative response to the sensual and erotic in postwar American photography, with attention to the beauty of the nude, both male and femaleWhen photographer Coda Gray befriends a family with a special interest in a young boy, the motivation behind his special attention is difficult to grasp, "e;like water slipping through our fingers."e; Can a man innocently love a boy who is not his own?Using fiction to reveal the truths about families, communities, art objects, love, and mourning, Like a Lake tells the story of ten-year-old Nico, who lives with his father (an Italian- American architect) and his mother (a Japanese-American sculptor who learned how to draw while interned during World War II). Set in the 1960s, this is a story of aesthetic perfection waiting to be broken. Nico's midcentury modern house, with its Italian pottery jars along the outside and its interior lit by Japanese lanterns. The elephant-hide gray, fiberglass reinforced plastic 1951 Eames rocking chair, with metal legs and birch runners. Clam consomm with kombu, giant kelp, yuzu rind, and a little fennel-in each bowl, two clams opened like a pair of butterflies, symbols of the happy couple. Nico's boyish delight in developing photographs under the red safety light of Coda's "e;Floating Zendo"e;- the darkroom boat that he keeps on Lake Tahoe. The lives of Nico, his parents, and Coda embody northern California's postwar landscape, giving way to fissures of alternative lifestyles and poetic visions. Author Carol Mavor addresses the sensuality and complexity of a son's love for his mother and that mother's own erotic response to it. The relationship between the mother and son is paralleled by what it means for a boy to be a model for a male photographer and to be his muse. Just as water can freeze into snow and ice, melt back into water, and steam, love takes on new forms with shifts of atmosphere. Like a Lake's haunting images and sensations stay with the reader.

Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn (15 July 1606 - 4 October 1669), usually simply known as Rembrandt, was a Dutch Golden Age painter, printmaker and draughtsman. An innovative and prolific master in three media, he is generally considered one of the greatest visual artists in the history of art and the most important in Dutch art history. Unlike most Dutch masters of the 17th century, Rembrandt's works depict a wide range of style and subject matter, from portraits and self-portraits to landscapes, genre scenes, allegorical and historical scenes, and biblical and mythological themes as well as animal studies.
