This work is the result of an analysis of the textbooks used in our Portuguese and History primary and secondary school classrooms, with the aim of discovering the profile and place reserved for black people in their content. There is a great lack of information about Afro-descendant culture in Brazil and its contributions to shaping the identity of the Brazilian people. The injustice of not publicising the legacy brought by native Africans, who were forcibly inserted into a strange and distant land and had to adapt and establish their roots on Brazilian soil, is visible. The culture they brought was incorporated into customs, such as dance, cuisine, music, religion, the language itself and a host of other elements. All of this constitutes the cultural wealth that Afro-descendants brought with them and, in a way, imposed on our culture, contributing in a big way to the formation of our identity.

Es visible la injusticia de no divulgar el legado traído por los nativos africanos, que se insertaron por la fuerza en una tierra extraña y distante y tuvieron que adaptarse y establecer sus raíces en suelo brasileño. This project offers an in-depth analysis of the creation myth as described in Plato's Tingeus, in an effort to discuss his overall approach to the relationship between the soul, music in education, and wellness. The immortal soul of humankind, by this approach, shares a certain harmonic rhythm with the divine and the World Soul as created by the Demiurge. This harmony in the mimetic form of music is a tool, provided as a means for attunement and stability by the Demiurge and the lesser gods, for the sake of humankind, as well as their own goals of achieving certain missing perfections. The immmortal soul's experience of embodiment and exposure to the sensible world isdescribed as tumultuous and chaotic upon the soul, thus requiring constant attunement. Music is a mechanism capable of turning the individual towards that which is Good. Music is a mimetic art, imitating the harmonies of the divine much of the creation myth is spent exposing the layers of mimetic relationships between the Demiurge, his creations, and the gifts provided by the gods to humankind. Its mimetic nature elevates its importance and allows it to alter the moral nature of an individual. Because of this relationship that it shares, Plato places music at a place of utmost importance, paired with gymnastics, in a proper education to help acclimate the soul

In any form, musical participation is an intimately social activity. Yet, as musicians unflinchingly commit their fullest selves to shared musical collaborations, the natural human penchant for self-interest inevitably comes along for the journey, threatening to compromise collectivistic desires with more egocentric comportments. Undeniahly, the ego plays an inextricable-and at hes antagonistic-rule in the negotiation of musicians performed identities. But as pervasive as the ego may he throughout various spheres af musical practice, it has yet to become a topic of empirical music research.
