  • - Revealing the Geological Secrets of the Central Northern Atlantic Islands

    113,00 €

The Azores archipelago consists of nine islands that emerge from the Azores Plateau in the Central Northern Atlantic, situated within the triple junction of the American, Eurasian and African lithosphere plates.

  •

This book provides a comprehensive description of the volcanological, petrological and geochemical features of the Copahue volcano, located at the border between Argentina and Chile. In a special section, the Copahue volcano is presented as a terrestrial modern analog for early-Earth and Mars environments.

  • - The Kos - Yali - Nisyros Volcanic Field

    168,00 €

Although the last volcanic activity on Nisyros dates back at least 20,000 to 25,000 years, it encompasses an active hydrothermal system underneath the volcano with temperatures of roughly 100 DegreesC at the Lakki plain, the present-day caldera floor and 350 DegreesC at a depth of 1,550 m.

  • - Geology and Eruptions of a Highly Differentiated Oceanic Stratovolcano

    150,00 €

a 'hell of a job', a navigation point on cloudy days, a challenge beyond imagination, a breakthrough in our understanding of oceanic volcanism that has shaped our way of thinking about volcanoes, and lastly, Teide provides us with a reference point from where to start exploring other oceanic volcanoes in the Canaries and beyond.

  • - Portrait of a Persistently Hazardous Volcano

    95,00 €

This book represents a comprehensive coverage of the current state of knowledge of Volcan de Colima: its history, its eruptive mechanism, the generation and interpretation of monitoring data, and the risk presented to the local population.

This publication summarizes the studies carried out at two of the most active volcanoes of Chiapas (Mexico): El Chichon and Tacana. El Chichon erupted explosively in 1982 killing more than 2000 people being the worst volcanic disaster in Mexico, and Tacana produced two mild phreatic explosions in 1950 and 1986.

  • von Pablo J. González
    140,00 €

This book presents an in-depth review of El Hierro Island, the youngest and most southwesterly volcano of the Canary Islands. In October 2011, a submarine eruption started offshore El Hierro Island. The 2011¿2012 El Hierro eruption has probably been the best monitored and studied submarine eruption to date and has sparked interest in the study of this young ocean island volcano. During the last decade, multidisciplinary investigations, e.g., on the geological and volcanological character of its past and latest onshore and offshore eruptions, the geophysical and geochemical signatures of its magmatic plumbing system structure and dynamics, as well as the bio-geophysical interactions and consequences of submarine eruptions in the ocean, have been conducted. This book provides an authoritative review of many of these scientific advances as well as multiple remaining unknowns for the study of El Hierro Island and its 2011¿2012 submarine eruption. Such knowledge should be of great interestto specialists not only in the Canary Islands volcanism but also in similar ocean island intraplate volcanoes.
