The present book is a complex approach to the elements that built the history of Catalonia. This collective book analyze differents aspects, such as: cultural history, the History of Law, the Political history or the History of the State, from the Midlle Ages to the Modern and Contemporary history.

This book adopts a multidisciplinary and novel approach to the historical evolution of identities in Europe - identities connected with regions as a multi-layered and processual key concept in dialogue and/or conflict with the emerging nation-state.

This book contains selected papers from the meeting Conditioned Identities. Wished-for and Unwished-for Identities, held in the Institute of Research in Identities and Society (University of Lleida) in 2013, dealing with the imposition and acceptance of the identities.

In this book, outstanding researchers from the fields of History, Language and Literature discuss the different ways for getting internal cohesion in Portugal and Catalonia from its medieval origin to 19th century, examining the reasons behind the dissimilar evolution of the two peripheral sides of the Iberian Peninsula.

El intenso proceso de globalización de hoy es el final de un largo camino que comenzó con los desplazamientos de larga distancia. Rutas que permitieron la transferencia de objetos, personas e ideas, iniciando una transculturación que hoy en día puede ser estudiada. Entrados ya en el siglo XXI, las miradas al pasado fijan su atención en los acontecimientos que se desarrollaron en los primeros años del siglo XVI en América, de los que se cumplen quinientos años desde que acontecieron. Esto nos permite reflexionar sobre las verdaderas dimensiones de los acontecimientos que tuvieron lugar en aquellos territorios. Este libro reúne las reflexiones de un grupo de profesores de las Universidades de Granada y Barcelona sobre la verdadera dimensión del proceso de descubrimiento americano. Son un conjunto multidisciplinario de trabajos alrededor del mismo objeto, la presencia de lo hispano en el contexto americano y asiático, como reflejo de una huella cultural que habla de un acontecimiento histórico que duró más de trescientos años.

This book is one of the publications of the bilateral Egyptian-Italianresearch project ¿Intercultural Relations between East andWest from the 11th to 21st century¿ funded by Academy of ScientificResearch and Technology (ASRT) and the National ResearchCouncil (CNR) (2019¿2021). The book previews some ofthe research presented in the 2nd international webinar organisedby the project in May 2021 entitled ¿Art, Culture and Tradeas Evidence of Bonds between East and West: 11th to 21st century¿.In that webinar, researchers from Italian, Egyptian, Hungarianand Belgian Universities highlighted some topics focusing onintercultural bonds between the Western and the Islamic worlds.In the book, we have chosen to deal with multi-layer conceptssuch as ¿Identity¿, ¿Otherness¿, ¿Diversity¿ and ¿Minorities¿ declinedin the relationships between East and West.
