This book contains extended and revised versions of the best papers presented at the 20th IFIP WG 10.5/IEEE International Conference on Very Large Scale Integration, VLSI-SoC 2012, held in Santa Cruz, CA, USA, in October 2012. The 12 papers included in the book were carefully reviewed and selected from the 33 full papers presented at the conference. The papers cover a wide range of topics in VLSI technology and advanced research. They address the current trend toward increasing chip integration and technology process advancements bringing about stimulating new challenges both at the physical and system-design levels, as well as in the test of these systems.

Welcome to the 5th International Conference on Open Source Systems! It is quite an achievement to reach the five-year mark - that's the sign of a successful enterprise. This annual conference is now being recognized as the primary event for the open source research community, attracting not only high-quality papers, but also building a community around a technical program, a collection of workshops, and (starting this year) a Doctoral Consortium. Reaching this milestone reflects the efforts of many people, including the conference founders, as well as the organizers and participants in the previous conferences. My task has been easy, and has been greatly aided by the hard work of Kevin Crowston and Cornelia Boldyreff, the Program Committee, as well as the Organizing Team led by Bjorn Lundell. All of us are also grateful to our attendees, especially in the difficult economic climate of 2009. We hope the participants found the conference valuable both for its technical content and for its personal networking opportunities. To me, it is interesting to look back over the past five years, not just at this conference, but at the development and acceptance of open source software. Since 2004, the business and commercial side of open source has grown enormously. At that time, there were only a handful of open source businesses, led by RedHat and its Linux distribution. Companies such as MySQL and JBoss were still quite small.

Recent spectacular achievements in wireless, mobile, and sensor networks have dramatically changed our lives in many ways. However, the rapid evolution of wireless systems not only promises increased functionality, reliability, availability, and security, as well as putting a wide variety of new services at the users' disposal ? it also creates a number of design challenges that our research community is now facing. Scientists and engineers need to come up with, and promptly implement, novel wireless network architectures, while system operators and planners rethink their business models and attend to the growing expectations of their customer base. To provide a suitable forum for discussion between researchers, practitioners, and industry representatives interested in new developments in the respective research area, IFIP WG 6. 8 launched three separate series of conferences: MWCN (Mobile and Wireless Communications Networks), PWC (Personal Wireless Communications), and WSAN (Wireless Sensor and Actors Networks). In 2008, MWCN and PWC were merged into the IFIP Wireless and Mobile Networking Conference (WMNC 2008), held in Toulouse, France, from September 30 to October 2, 2008. MWNC 2008 and PWC 2008 topics were subsequently revised with a view to covering the whole spectrum of hot issues in wireless and mobile networking. As a result, IFIP WG 6. 8 decided to add WSAN as another WMNC track.

Digital forensics deals with the acquisition, preservation, examination, analysis and presentation of electronic evidence. Networked computing, wireless communications and portable electronic devices have expanded the role of digital forensics beyond traditional computer crime investigations. Practically every crime now involves some aspect of digital evidence; digital forensics provides the techniques and tools to articulate this evidence. Digital forensics also has myriad intelligence applications. Furthermore, it has a vital role in information assurance - investigations of security breaches yield valuable information that can be used to design more secure systems.Advances in Digital Forensics V describes original research results and innovative applications in the discipline of digital forensics. In addition, it highlights some of the major technical and legal issues related to digital evidence and electronic crime investigations. The areas of coverage include: themes and issues, forensic techniques, integrity and privacy, network forensics, forensic computing, investigative techniques, legal issues and evidence management.This book is the fifth volume in the annual series produced by the International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP) Working Group 11.9 on Digital Forensics, an international community of scientists, engineers and practitioners dedicated to advancing the state of the art of research and practice in digital forensics. The book contains a selection of twenty-three edited papers from the Fifth Annual IFIP WG 11.9 International Conference on Digital Forensics, held at the National Center for Forensic Science, Orlando, Florida, USA in the spring of 2009.Advances in Digital Forensics V is an important resource for researchers, faculty members and graduate students, as well as for practitioners and individuals engaged in research and development efforts for the law enforcement and intelligence communities.

This volume contains the proceedings of IFIPTM 2010, the 4th IFIP WG 11.11 International Conference on Trust Management, held in Morioka, Iwate, Japan during June 16-18, 2010. IFIPTM 2010 provided a truly global platform for the reporting of research, development, policy, and practice in the interdependent arrears of privacy, se- rity, and trust. Building on the traditions inherited from the highly succe- ful iTrust conference series, the IFIPTM 2007 conference in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada, the IFIPTM 2008 conference in Trondheim, Norway, and the IFIPTM 2009 conference at Purdue University in Indiana, USA, IFIPTM 2010 focused on trust, privacy and security from multidisciplinary persp- tives. The conference is an arena for discussion on relevant problems from both research and practice in the areas of academia, business, and government. IFIPTM 2010 was an open IFIP conference. The program of the conference featured both theoretical research papers and reports of real-world case studies. IFIPTM 2010 received 61 submissions from 25 di?erent countries: Japan (10), UK (6), USA (6), Canada (5), Germany (5), China (3), Denmark (2), India (2), Italy (2), Luxembourg (2), The Netherlands (2), Switzerland (2), Taiwan (2), Austria, Estonia, Finland, France, Ireland, Israel, Korea,Malaysia, Norway, Singapore, Spain, Turkey. The Program Committee selected 18 full papers for presentation and inclusion in the proceedings. In addition, the program and the proceedings include two invited papers by academic experts in the ?elds of trust management, privacy and security, namely, Toshio Yamagishi and Pamela Briggs.

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 36th IFIP TC 11 International Conference on Information Security and Privacy Protection, SEC 2021, held in Oslo, Norway, in June 2021.*The 28 full papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 112 submissions. The papers present novel research on theoretical and practical aspects of security and privacy protection in ICT systems. They are organized in topical sections on digital signatures; vulnerability management; covert channels and cryptography; application and system security; privacy; network security; machine learning for security; and security management.*The conference was held virtually.

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 12th IFIP TC 12 International Conference on Intelligent Information Processing, IIP 2022, held in Qingdao, China, in July 2022. The 37 full papers and 6 short papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 57 submissions. They are organized in topical sections on Machine Learning, Data Mining, Multiagent Systems, Social Computing, Blockchain Technology, Game Theory and Emotion, Pattern Recognition, Image Processing and Applications.

This work derives from a conference discussing the history of computing in education. This conference is the first of hopefully a series of conferences that will take place within the International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP) and hence, we describe it as the First Conference on the History of Computing in Education (HCE1). These proceedings represent a collection of works presented at the HCE1 Conference held in association with the IFIP 2004 World Computer Congress held in Toulouse, France. Contributions to this volume range from a wide variety of educational perspectives and represent activities from four continents. The HCE1 conference represents a joint effort of the IFIP Working Group 9.7 on the History of Computing and the IFIP Technical Committee 3 on Education. The HCE1 Conference brings to light a broad spectrum of issues and spans fourcontinents. It illustrates topics in computing education as they occurred in the ¿early days¿ of computing whose ramificationsor overtones remain with us today. Indeed, many of the early challenges remain part of our educational tapestry; most likely, many will evolve into future challenges. Therefore, this work provides additional value to the reader as it will reflect in part the future development of computing in education to stimulate new ideas and models in educational development.
