This book constitutes the thoroughly refereed revised selected papers from the Second IAPR International Workshop, PSL 2013, held in Nanjing, China, in May 2013. The 10 papers included in this volume were carefully reviewed and selected from 26 submissions. Partially supervised learning is a rapidly evolving area of machine learning. It generalizes many kinds of learning paradigms including supervised and unsupervised learning, semi-supervised learning for classification and regression, transductive learning, semi-supervised clustering, multi-instance learning, weak label learning, policy learning in partially observable environments, etc.

Welcome to the proceedings of the 14th WoLLIC meeting, which was held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, July 2 - 5, 2007. The Workshop on Logic, Language, Information and Computation (WoLLIC) is an annual international forum on inter-disciplinary research involving formal logic, computing and programming theory, and natural language and reasoning. The WoLLIC meetings alternate between Brazil (and Latin America) and other countries, with the aim of fostering interest in applied logic among Latin Am- ican scientists and students, and facilitating their interaction with the international - plied logic community. WoLLIC 2007 focused on foundationsof computing and programming,novel c- putation models and paradigms, broad notions of proof and belief, formal methods in software and hardware development; logical approaches to natural language and r- soning; logics of programs, actions and resources; foundational aspects of information organization, search, ?ow, sharing, and protection. The Program Committee for this meeting, consisting of the 28 colleagues listed here, was designed to promote these inter-disciplinary and cross-disciplinary topics. Like its predecessors, WoLLIC 2007 included invited talks and tutorials as well as contributed papers. The Program Committee received 52 complete submissions (aside from 15 preliminary abstracts which did not materialize). A thorough review process by the Program Committee, assisted by over 70 external reviewers, led to the acc- tance of 21 papers for presentation at the meeting and inclusion in these proceedings. The conference program also included 16 talks and tutorials by 10 prominent invited speakers, who graciously accepted the Program Committee's invitation.

The International Conference on Intelligent Computing (ICIC) was formed to provide an annual forum dedicated to the emerging and challenging topics in artificial intelligence, machine learning, bioinformatics, and computational biology, etc. It aims to bring - gether researchers and practitioners from both academia and industry to share ideas, problems, and solutions related to the multifaceted aspects of intelligent computing. ICIC 2009, held in Ulsan, Korea, September 16-19, 2009, constituted the 5th - ternational Conference on Intelligent Computing. It built upon the success of ICIC 2008, ICIC 2007, ICIC 2006, and ICIC 2005 held in Shanghai, Qingdao, Kunming, and Hefei, China, 2008, 2007, 2006, and 2005, respectively. This year, the conference concentrated mainly on the theories and methodologies as well as the emerging applications of intelligent computing. Its aim was to unify the p- ture of contemporary intelligent computing techniques as an integral concept that hi- lights the trends in advanced computational intelligence and bridges theoretical research with applications. Therefore, the theme for this conference was ¿Emerging Intelligent Computing Technology and Applications.¿ Papers focusing on this theme were solicited, addressing theories, methodologies, and applications in science and technology.

This three-volume set LNAI 6911, LNAI 6912, and LNAI 6913 constitutes the refereed proceedings of the European conference on Machine Learning and Knowledge Discovery in Databases: ECML PKDD 2011, held in Athens, Greece, in September 2011.The 121 revised full papers presented together with 10 invited talks and 11 demos in the three volumes, were carefully reviewed and selected from about 600 paper submissions. The papers address all areas related to machine learning and knowledge discovery in databases as well as other innovative application domains such as supervised and unsupervised learning with some innovative contributions in fundamental issues; dimensionality reduction, distance and similarity learning, model learning and matrix/tensor analysis; graph mining, graphical models, hidden markov models, kernel methods, active and ensemble learning, semi-supervised and transductive learning, mining sparse representations, model learning, inductive logic programming, and statistical learning. a significant part of the papers covers novel and timely applications of data mining and machine learning in industrial domains.

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the second International Workshop on the Theory and Applications of Formal Argumentation, TAFA 2013, held in Beijing, China, in August 2013. The Workshop was co-located with IJCAI 2013. The 15 revised full papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 22 submissions. The papers are organized in topical sections such as abstract argumentation frameworks, social abstract argumentation with votes on attacks, a normal form of argumentation frameworks, assumption-based argumentation, argument schemes for normative practical reasoning.

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 6th KES International Conference on Agent and Multi-Agent Systems, KES-AMSTA 2012, held in Dubrovnik, Croatia, in June 2012. The conference attracted a substantial number of researchers and practitioners from all over the world who submitted their papers for ten main tracks covering the methodology and applications of agent and multi-agent systems, one workshop (TRUMAS 2012) and five special sessions on specific topics within the field. The 66 revised papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected for inclusion in the book. The papers are organized in topical sections on virtual organizations, knowledge and learning agents, intelligent workflow, cloud computing and intelligent systems, self-organization, ICT-based alternative and augmentative communication, multi-agent systems, mental and holonic models, assessment methodologies in multi-agent and other paradigms, business processing agents, Trumas 2012 (first international workshop), conversational agents and agent teams, digital economy, and multi-agent systems in distributed environments.

This volume contains the research reports of the Discovery Science pro ject in Japan (No. 10143106),in which more than 60 scientists participated. It was a three-year pro ject sponsored by Grant-in-Aid for Scienti?c Research on Priority Areas from the Ministry of Education,Culture,Sports,Science,and Technology (MEXT) of Japan. This pro ject mainly aimed to (1) develop new methods for knowledge discovery,(2) install network environments for knowledge discovery, and (3) establish Discovery Science as a new area of study in Computer Science / Arti?cial Intelligence. In order to attain these aims we set up ?ve groups for studying the following research areas: (A) Logic for/of Knowledge Discovery (B) Knowledge Discovery by Inference/Reasoning (C) Knowledge Discovery Based on Computational Learning Theory (D) Knowledge Discovery in Huge Databases and Data Mining (E) Knowledge Discovery in Network Environments These research areas and related topics can be regarded as a preliminary d- inition of Discovery Science by enumeration. Thus Discovery Science ranges over philosophy,logic,reasoning,computational learning,and system developments. In addition to these ?ve research groups we organized a steering group for planning,adjustment,and evaluation of the project. The steering group,chaired by the principal investigator of the project,consists of leaders of the ?ve research groups and their subgroups as well as advisors from outside of the pro ject. We invited three scientists to consider Discovery Science and the ?ve above m- tioned research areas from viewpoints of knowledge science,natural language processing,and image processi ng,respectively.

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 7th International Workshop on Probabilistic Graphical Models, PGM 2014, held in Utrecht, The Netherlands, in September 2014. The 38 revised full papers presented in this book were carefully reviewed and selected from 44 submissions. The papers cover all aspects of graphical models for probabilistic reasoning, decision making, and learning.

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 9th International Conference on Advances in Natural Language Processing, PolTAL 2014, Warsaw, Poland, in September 2014. The 27 revised full papers and 20 revised short papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 83 submissions. The papers are organized in topical sections on morphology, named entity recognition, term extraction; lexical semantics; sentence level syntax, semantics, and machine translation; discourse, coreference resolution, automatic summarization, and question answering; text classification, information extraction and information retrieval; and speech processing, language modelling, and spell- and grammar-checking.

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the Second International Workshop on Engineering Multi-Agent Systems, EMAS 2014, held in Paris, France, in May 2014. The 22 full papers were carefully reviewed and selected from 41 submissions. The focus of the papers is on following topics: intelligent agents, multi-agent systems, software design engineering, model-driven software engineering, reasoning about belief and knowledge, cooperation and coordination, constraint and logic programming, software verification, design patterns.
