Diese Studie zeigt die Implikationen einer Literaturgeschichtsschreibung, die als Werkzeug für die Steuerung der Vergangenheitswahrnehmung eingesetzt wird. Le Brésil littéraire (1863) ist dafür paradigmatisch: Das Werk des österreichischen Beamten Ferdinand Wolf stützte unter dem Deckmantel der Wissenschaftlichkeit eine Ideologie, die den Ansprüchen sowohl der brasilianischen als auch der habsburgischen kaiserlichen Regierung entsprach.

Die Korrespondenz zwischen körperlichen Merkmalen und dem Charakter eines Menschen, die im 19. Jahrhundert die Matrix für die Naturwissenschaften war, stellt heute die Basis von Lifestyle-Normen, oder auch von Psycho- und medizinischer Diagnostik dar. Der Band untersucht historisch und systematisch die biopolitische Performativität physiognomischer Praktiken, ihre Medialität sowie das in der Ästhetik von Texten und Medien implizierte Lebenswissen.

Kleine Formen erleben gegenwärtig im globalen Kontext Hochkonjunktur. In der Karibik, Lateinamerika, Afrika oder Ozeanien spielen sie längst eine bedeutende Rolle. Die Studie zeigt am Beispiel von Aphorismus und Sprichwort eine Vielfalt literarischer, kultureller und ethnographischer Funktionsweisen kleiner Formen in ehemaligen Kolonien französischer, spanischer und portugiesischer Sprache auf.

Galáxias (1984), das polyphone Weltgedicht des brasilianischen Dichters Haroldo de Campos, wurde bisher überwiegend im Kontext der konkreten Poesie und des lateinamerikanischen Neobarock besprochen. Anhand einer Neulektüre zeigt Jasmin Wrobel, dass das Werk vielmehr als poetisches und konkretes Zeugnis des Jahrhunderts der Katastrophen gelesen werden kann: es enthält ¿textuelle Stolpersteine¿, die sich zu einer ¿Poetik des Stolperns¿ fügen.

Comment redonner un sens au mot humanisme? Diese Frage, die Jean Beaufret 1946 Martin Heidegger stellte, verdeutlicht die Krise des Humanismusbegriffs in der Nachkriegszeit. Am Beispiel der französischen und spanischen Gattungen von Utopie und Tragödie soll gezeigt werden, wie diese Frage beantwortet wurde.

Der Estado Novo vertrat eine geschichtspolitische Vision von Portugal, der sich eine ganze Generation von SchriftstellerInnen widersetzte. Aufgrund der staatlichen Zensur trug sich die Auseinandersetzung mit dem Regime in literarischen Texten in einer Weise aus, die oft dazu gefuhrt hat, dass diese Texte als unpolitisch und von der historischen Realitat des Landes abgewandt wahrgenommen wurden. Auch wenn evident war, dass hier keine regimetreue Literatur entstanden ist, steht in der wissenschaftlichen Auseinandersetzung mit der portugiesischen Literatur des 20. Jahrhunderts eine philologische Entschlusselung der Verfahren dieser AutorInnen noch aus.Die Dissertationsschrift von Diana Gomes Ascenso bietet eine Neubewertung des Werks von Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen (1919 - 2004) als politische Poesie des vermeintlich Unpolitischen. In drei Hauptkapiteln werden drei verschiedene Modi der Kritik herausgearbeitet, die verdeutlichen, wie Sophia Andresen die poetische Form als Form geistigen Widerstands in einer bis heute zutiefst beeindruckenden Konsequenz umgesetzt hat.

Die Archaologie historischer Korpermodelle erschliet originare Zugange zu Konstruktionen des (mannlichen) Subjektes. Da Geschlechterregime immer auf Ordnungen von Korper und Geist basieren, ist es unerlasslich, deren Wechselspiel mit technologischen, sozialen und kulturellen Paradigmen zu beleuchten. Deshalb wird auch die Verarbeitung philosophischer Korperkonzepte in wirkmachtigen literarischen Texten wie etwa der Celestina oder dem Orlando Furioso eingehend analysiert.

At the core of this book lies the relation between Power (as socio-political phenomenon) and the novel (as literary discourse). It shows that, in a society facing the excess of power in its various forms, novelistic fiction mediates knowledge about societal Power structures and uses specific strategies to subvert and denounce them. The first part of the study is theoretical: it presents some of the most prominent theories of Power, from Plato, Machiavelli, Nietzsche to Weber, Dahl, Lukes, Parsons, Bourdieu or Foucault. After offering a critical approach to the concepts of Power defined in the social, political and philosophical fields, it articulates the relations of Power imprinted in literary discourse within a typology of four categories. In the second part of the book, this taxonomy of Power is applied to four key novels in the context of Romanian "e;literary crossroads"e;, showing how novelistic fiction not only assume a critical and subversive position against the excess of Power, but also unveils our fragility when experiencing History.

Le présent volume examine le processus de transfert et les modalités de réception en Allemagne de l¿Ouest du théâtre français « de l¿absurde », à travers les ¿uvres de ses principaux représentants : Arthur Adamov, Samuel Beckett, Jean Genet et Eugène Ionesco.À partir d'archives inédites, l'ouvrage retrace les trajectoires des différents médiateurs de cette importation culturelle, en détaille la chronologie et les nombreux supports ¿ théâtraux, radiophoniques ou encore télévisuels. Il documente les différentes étapes qui ont marqué la circulation des ¿uvres dans le paysage théâtral ouest-allemand entre 1949 et 1989, de leur découverte par les maisons d¿éditions à leurs traductions et mises en scène majeures, et jusqu'à leur réception par la presse spécialisée et le grand public. Il montre notamment que le répertoire ¿ par nature cosmopolite ¿ du théâtre « de l¿absurde » a été doté, dans la culture d¿accueil ouest-allemande, d¿une dimension internationale qui a favorisé son intégration.Ce travail de synthèse jette ainsi un nouvel éclairage non seulement sur l¿histoire théâtrale, mais aussi sur les relations culturelles franco-allemandes de 1949 à 1989.

Der Problemnexus zwischen Avantgarde und Faschismus, fur Italien und Deutschland bereits grotenteils erforscht, wird in der vorliegenden Arbeit erstmals in bezug auf die spanische Literatur untersucht. Die Frage nach der reaktionaren Moderne erschliet einen vergessenen Sektor der spanischen Erzahlprosa, der, quer zur gangigen Epochengliederung, die Leerstelle zwischen Vorkriegsavantgarde und Nachkriegsrealismus fullt. Zunachst werden die weitgehend unbekannten Autoren prasentiert: Ernesto Gimenez Caballero (1899-1988), Vordenker des Faschismus in Spanien, Tomas Borras (1891-1976), Felipe Ximenez de Sandoval (1903-1978), Samuel Ros (1904-1945) und Antonio de Obregon (1909-1985). Ohne reduktionistische Thesenbildung verfolgt die Studie in unmittelbarer Auseinandersetzung mit den Texten den Proze der ideologischen Umwertung bzw. Funktionalisierung avantgardistischer Diskursformen und Stilelemente (Pirandellismus, Expressionismus, Asthetik der Grausamkeit). Inhaltlich manifestiert sich die Entwicklung von der 'Vanguardia' zur prafaschistischen 'Avanzada' in der Darstellung von Identitatsproblematik und Gesellschaftsbezug. Ausfuhrungen zu Aspekten der faschistischen 'Asthetisierung' des Politischen (Walther Benjamin; Mission des Kunstlers, Dandysmus, Stilbegriff) beschlieen den Band.
