Karl Menger, one of the founders of dimension theory, is among the most original mathematicians and thinkers of the twentieth century.

Serge Lang is one of the top mathematicians of our time. Part of a four-volume set, this resource collects key research papers written by Lang and highlight the innumerable contributions he made in diverse fields in mathematics.

In recognition of professor Shiing-Shen Chern's long and distinguished service to mathematics and to the University of California, the geometers at Berkeley held an International Symposium in Global Analysis and Global Geometry in his honor in June 1979.

Andre Weil's mathematical work has deeply influenced the mathematics of the twentieth century. Part of a three-volume set, this work collects his papers in chronological order and includes lengthy commentaries on many of the articles written by Weil himself.

This softcover edition features two additional, recently published articles, one on the life and works of Andre Weil, the other one on Finite Subgroups of Lie Groups.

This volume offers a selection of key papers from Joseph Leonard Walsh, former US Naval Officer and professor at University of Maryland and Harvard University. It includes one of Walsh's most influential works, "A closed set of normal orthogonal function."

Vinogradov (1891 - 1983) was one of the creators of modern analytic number theory. In addition to some early works, it contains the initial proofs of many of Vinogradov's basic theorems as well as the later improved versions, and also two substantial monographs.

These articles span the years from 1961-1980 while David Mumford was an active researcher in the area of algebraic geometry. This volume includes many important papers previously omitted. Mumford's correspondence with Grothendieck is also included.

Mumford is a well-known mathematician and winner of the Fields Medal, the highest honor available in mathematics. Many of these papers are currently unavailable, and the commentaries by Gieseker, Lange, Viehweg and Kempf are being published here for the first time.
