This book presents a selection of peer-reviewed contributions to the fifth Bayesian Young Statisticians Meeting, BaYSM 2021, held virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic on 1-3 September 2021. Despite all the challenges of an online conference, the meeting provided a valuable opportunity for early career researchers, including MSc students, PhD students, and postdocs to connect with the broader Bayesian community.The proceedings highlight many different topics in Bayesian statistics, presenting promising methodological approaches to address important challenges in a variety of applications. The book is intended for a broad audience of people interested in statistics, and provides a series of stimulating contributions on theoretical, methodological, and computational aspects of Bayesian statistics.

This volume presents a collection of twenty-five peer-reviewed articles carefully selected from the contributions presented at the XXV Congress of the Portuguese Statistical Society (2021). Containing state-of-the-art developments in theoretical and applied statistics, the book will be accessible to readers with a background in mathematics and statistics, but will also be of interest to researchers from other scientific disciplines (e.g., biology, economics, medicine), who will find a broad range of relevant applications.

The volume includes a collection of peer-reviewed contributions from among those presented at the FNE, the main conference organized every two years by the Mexican Statistical Society (AME), and the 2020 AME Virtual Meeting. Statistical research in Latin America is prolific and research networks span both within and outside the region. As much of the work is typically carried out and published in Spanish, a large portion of the interested public is denied access to interesting findings, and the goal of this volume is therefore to provide access to selected works from Mexican collaborators and their international research networks to a wider audience. It may be especially attractive to academics interested in the latest methodological advances, while professionals from other disciplines may also find value in these new tools for data analysis. In 2021, the conference broadly focused on the interdisciplinary aspects of Statistics.

This proceedings is a collection of research papers on algebra and related topics, most of which were presented at the International Conference on Algebra and Related Topics with Applications (ICARTA-19), held at the Department of Mathematics, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh, India, from 17-19 December 2019. It covers a wide range of topics on ring theory, coding theory, cryptography, and graph theory. In addition to highlighting the latest research being done in algebra, the book also addresses the abundant topics of algebra particularly semigroups, groups, derivations in rings, rings and modules, group rings, matrix algebra, triangular algebra, polynomial rings and lattice theory. This volume presents modern trends in the area of symmetries and their applications based on contributions to the Workshop "Lie Theory and Its Applications in Physics" held in Sofia, Bulgaria (on-line) in June 2021.Traditionally, Lie theory is a tool to build mathematical models for physical systems. Recently, the trend is towards geometrization of the mathematical description of physical systems and objects. A geometric approach to a system yields in general some notion of symmetry which is very helpful in understanding its structure. The 49Th Scientific meeting of the Italian Statistical Society was held in June 2018 in Palermo, with more than 450 attendants. Sergio Albeverio gave important contributions to many fields ranging from Physics to Mathematics, while creating new research areas from their interplay. Some of them are presented in this Volume that grew out of the Random Transformations and Invariance in Stochastic Dynamics Workshop held in Verona in 2019. To understand the theory of thermo- and fluid-dynamics, statistical mechanics, quantum mechanics and quantum field theory, Albeverio and his collaborators developed stochastic theories having strong interplays with operator theory and functional analysis. His contribution to the theory of (non Gaussian)-SPDEs, the related theory of (pseudo-)differential operators, and ergodic theory had several impacts to solve problems related, among other topics, to thermo- and fluid dynamics. His scientific works in the theory of interacting particles and its extension to configuration spaces lead, e.g., to the solution of open problems in statistical mechanics and quantum fieldtheory. Together with Raphael Hoegh Krohn he introduced the theory of infinite dimensional Dirichlet forms, which nowadays is used in many different contexts, and new methods in the theory of Feynman path integration. He did not fear to further develop different methods in Mathematics, like, e.g., the theory of non-standard analysis and p-adic numbers.

This book collects the proceedings of a series of conferences dedicated to birational geometry of Fano varieties held in Moscow, Shanghai and PohangThe conferences were focused on the following two related problems:¿ existence of Kähler¿Einstein metrics on Fano varieties¿ degenerations of Fano varietieson which two famous conjectures were recently proved. The first is the famous Borisov¿Alexeev¿Borisov Conjecture on the boundedness of Fano varieties, proved by Caucher Birkar (for which he was awarded the Fields medal in 2018), and the second one is the (arguably even more famous) Tian¿YaüDonaldson Conjecture on the existence of Kähler¿Einstein metrics on (smooth) Fano varieties and K-stability, which was proved by Xiuxiong Chen, Sir Simon Donaldson and Song Sun. The solutions for these longstanding conjectures have opened new directions in birational and Kähler geometries. These research directions generated new interesting mathematical problems, attracting the attention of mathematicians worldwide.These conferences brought together top researchers in both fields (birational geometry and complex geometry) to solve some of these problems and understand the relations between them. The result of this activity is collected in this book, which contains contributions by sixty nine mathematicians, who contributed forty three research and survey papers to this volume. This proceedings volume presents a selection of peer-reviewed contributions from the Second Non-Associative Algebras and Related Topics (NAART II) conference, which was held at the University of Coimbra, Portugal, from July 18¿22, 2022. The conference was held in honor of mathematician Alberto Elduque, who has made significant contributions to the study of non-associative structures such as Lie, Jordan, and Leibniz algebras. The papers in this volume are organized into four parts: Lie algebras, superalgebras, and groups; Leibniz algebras; associative and Jordan algebras; and other non-associative structures. They cover a variety of topics, including classification problems, special maps (automorphisms, derivations, etc.), constructions that relate different structures, and representation theory.One of the unique features of NAART is that it is open to all topics related to non-associative algebras, including octonion algebras, composite algebras, Banach algebras, connections with geometry, applications in coding theory, combinatorial problems, and more. This diversity allows researchers from a range of fields to find the conference subjects interesting and discover connections with their own areas, even if they are not traditionally considered non-associative algebraists.
