In questo primo volume dedicato alle autoblinde italiane, iniziamo a presentare le prime e più antiche. All'inizio si trattò soprattutto di modelli rimasti a livello di prototipi, o di mezzi prodotti in numero assai basso. Delle tante, abbiamo dedicato un po' di spazio alle blindo più antiche come la Bianchi, già presente nel conflitto italo-turca, o la Fiat-Terni Tripoli nata nel 1918. Passiamo poi alla leggenda della Lancia 1Z, mezzo fortunato nato nel primo conflitto mondiale e che rimase operativo fino al 1945! Si trattò di un massiccio mezzo, interamente di progettazione italiana. A condividere buona parte del libro chiudiamo con l'autoblindo Fiat 611 costruita nel 1932, come spesso accadeva al tempo con la Ansaldo, e specificatamente progettata per uso coloniale. Operò infatti soprattutto nella A.O.I. insieme alla sorella più anziana Lancia 1Z e i carri veloci. Oltre venti tavole di profili a colori dell'autore completano questo libro.

Dopo il primo volume sui cannoni italiani, in questa seconda parte tratteremo e completeremo lo studio e l'analisi dei pezzi d'artiglieria ereditati dal primo conflitto mondiale, sia di produzione nazionale che fonti di preda bellica (tipicamente austro-ungarica) a seguito della vittoria nel 1915-18.Il criterio usato sarà ancora quello già utilizzato del calibro a crescere, quindi dai pezzi leggeri in poi. Con il terzo volume che completerà il nostro lavoro sulle artiglierie italiane dei primi cinquanta anni del Novecento tratteremo prevalentemente i mezzi di concezione più moderna, ideati dalla seconda metà degli anni '30. Da questo volume invece parleremo espressamente anche delle bombarde in uso in quegli anni, mentre trattrici e trattori saranno distribuiti in vario modo nei tre volumi in ordine preferibilmente cronologico.

The Matilda Mk II tank, was an infantry tank used by the British Army during the Second World War. This tank was famous for its heavy armour and its ability to resist enemy attacks, especially in the early stages of the conflict. In fact, its armour made it virtually invulnerable to the anti-tank guns of the time. On the other hand, its speed and firepower were limited compared to the enemy tanks. It was armed with a 2-pound (40 mm) main gun and a coaxial machine gun. For all these characteristics, the British Matilda tank was nicknamed "the Queen of the Desert"!

After the first volume on Italian cannons, in this second part we will treat and complete the study and analysis of the artillery pieces inherited from the First World War, both of national production and sources of war prey (typically Austro-Hungarian) following the victory in 1915-18.The criterion used will still be that of the growing calibre, i.e. from light pieces onwards. With the third volume, which will complete our work on Italian artillery from the first fifty years of the twentieth century, we will mainly deal with the more modern types of artillery, conceived from the second half of the 1930s. From this volume we will also expressly discuss the bombards in use in those years, while tractors will be distributed in various ways throughout the three volumes in preferably chronological order.

Il carro armato Matilda Mk II fu un carro armato di fanteria utilizzato dall'Esercito Britannico durante la Seconda Guerra Mondiale. Questo carro era famoso per la sua pesante corazza e la sua capacità di resistere agli attacchi nemici, soprattutto nelle fasi iniziali del conflitto. La sua corazza, infatti, lo rendeva praticamente invulnerabile ai cannoni anticarro dell'epoca. Per contro, la sua velocità e la sua capacità di fuoco erano limitate rispetto ai carri avversari. Era armato di un cannone principale da 2 libbre (40 mm) e una mitragliatrice coassiale. Per tutte queste caratteristiche il carro inglese Matilda era soprannominato "la regina del deserto"!

The Panzerkampfwagen 38(t) was not born German. Its original name was LT vz. 38, and was the best Czechoslovak tank made between the wars. However, it only had luck and substantial use in another army, the German army, which renamed the vehicle Pz.Kpfw.38(t). In the Wehrmacht, this tank became one of the symbols of the Blitzkrieg, fighting in the vanguard of the German armoured units. Thus it was that in the spring of 1940, the Prague-built tanks destroyed the British and French vehicles that had failed to come to the aid of Czechoslovakia two years earlier...

The L6/40 Tank was the only true Italian light tank of World War II. Used during the Second World War mainly by the Regio Esercito, which employed it in practically all theaters of war: North and East Africa, Russia, the Balkans and the rest of Europe. Used mainly as a reconnaissance vehicle from the spring of 1941 until the armistice with the Allies in September 1943. A vehicle originally designed for mountain operations, it soon proved unsuitable for the operations to which it was entrusted. Even before it went into action, it was obsolete both in terms of armament and weak armour.

Il Carro Armato L6/40 fu l'unico vero carro armato leggero italiano della Seconda Guerra Mondiale, utilizzato prevalentemente dal Regio Esercito che lo impiegò praticamente in tutti i teatri di guerra: Africa settentrionale e orientale, Russia, Balcani e resto dell' Europa. Venne utilizzato soprattutto come mezzo di ricognizione a partire alla primavera del 1941 fino all'armistizio con gli alleati nel settembre 1943. Mezzo originariamente progettato per le operazioni in montagna, si rivelò tuttavia presto inadatto alle operazioni cui venne affidato. Già prima di entrare in azione, era obsoleto sia per l'armamento che per la debolezza della corazza.
