LION 3, the Third International Conference on Learning and Intelligent Op- mizatioN, was held during January 14-18 in Trento, Italy. The LION series of conferences provides a platform for researchers who are interested in the int- section of e?cient optimization techniques and learning. It is aimed at exploring the boundaries and uncharted territories between machine learning, arti?cial intelligence, mathematical programming and algorithms for hard optimization problems. The considerable interest in the topics covered by LION was re?ected by the overwhelming number of 86 submissions, which almost doubled the 48 subm- sions received for LION's second edition in December 2007. As in the ?rst two editions, the submissions to LION 3 could be in three formats: (a) original novel and unpublished work for publication in the post-conference proceedings, (b) extended abstracts of work-in-progressor a position statement, and (c) recently submitted or published journal articles for oral presentations. The 86 subm- sions received include 72, ten, and four articles for categories (a), (b), and (c), respectively.

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 11th International Conference on Distributed Computing and Networking, ICDCN 2010, held in Kolkata, India, during January 3-6, 2010. There were 169 submissions, 96 to the networking track and 73 to the distributed computing track. After review the committee selected 23 papers for the networking and 21 for the distributed computing track. The topics addressed are network protocol and applications, fault-tolerance and security, sensor networks, distributed algorithms and optimization, peer-to-peer networks and network tracing, parallel and distributed systems, wireless networks, applications and distributed systems, optical, cellular and mobile ad hoc networks, and theory of distributed systems.

Recon?gurable computing (RC) systems have generated considerable interest in the embedded and high-performance computing communities over the past two decades, with ?eld programmable gate arrays (FPGAs) as the leading techn- ogy at the helm of innovation in this discipline. Achieving orders of magnitude performance and power improvements using FPGAs over traditional microp- cessorsis not uncommon for well-suitedapplications. But even with two decades of research and technological advances, FPGA design still presents a subst- tial challenge and often necessitates hardware design expertise to exploit its true potential. Although the challenges to address the design productivity - sues are steep, the promise and the potential of the RC technology in terms of performance, power, size, and versatility continue to attract application design engineers and RC researchers alike. The International Symposium on Applied Recon?gurable Computing (ARC) aims to bring together researchers and practitioners of RC systems with an emphasis on practical applications and design methodologies of this promising technology. This year's ARC symposium (The sixth ARC symposium) was held in Bangkok, Thailand during March 17-19, 2010, and attracted papers in three primary focus areas:RC applications, RC architectures, and RC design meth- ologies.

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 14th European Conference on Genetic Programming, EuroGP 2011, held in Torino, Italy, in April 2011 co-located with the Evo* 2011 events. This 20 revised full papers presented together with 9 poster papers were carefully reviewed and selected from 59 submissions. The wide range of topics in this volume reflect the current state of research in the field, including representations, theory, novel operators and techniques, self organization, and applications.

The Second International Conference on High-Performance Computing and Appli- tions (HPCA 2009) was a follow-up event of the successful HPCA 2004. It was held in Shanghai, a beautiful, active, and modern city in China, August 10-12, 2009. It served as a forum to present current work by researchers and software developers from around the world as well as to highlight activities in the high-performance c- puting area. It aimed to bring together research scientists, application pioneers, and software developers to discuss problems and solutions and to identify new issues in this area. This conference emphasized the development and study of novel approaches for high-performance computing, the design and analysis of high-performance - merical algorithms, and their scientific, engineering, and industrial applications. It offered the conference participants a great opportunity to exchange the latest research results, heighten international collaboration, and discuss future research ideas in HPCA. In addition to 24 invited presentations, the conference received over 300 contr- uted submissions from over ten countries and regions worldwide, about 70 of which were accepted for presentation at HPCA 2009. The conference proceedings contain some of the invited presentations and contributed submissions, and cover such research areas of interest as numerical algorithms and solutions, high-performance and grid c- puting, novel approaches to high-performance computing, massive data storage and processing, hardware acceleration, and their wide applications.

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the Third International Conference on Language and Automata Theory and Applications, LATA 2009, held in Tarragona, Spain, in April 2009. The 58 revised full papers presented together with 3 invited lectures and two tutorials were carefully reviewed and selected from 121 submissions. The papers address all the various issues related to automata theory and formal languages.

It is our great pleasure to welcome you to the proceedings of the 10th annual event of the International Conference on Algorithms and Architectures for Parallel Processing (ICA3PP). ICA3PP is recognized as the main regular event covering the many dimensions of parallel algorithms and architectures, encompassing fundamental theoretical - proaches, practical experimental projects, and commercial components and systems. As applications of computing systems have permeated every aspect of daily life, the power of computing systems has become increasingly critical. Therefore, ICA3PP 2010 aimed to permit researchers and practitioners from industry to exchange inf- mation regarding advancements in the state of the art and practice of IT-driven s- vices and applications, as well as to identify emerging research topics and define the future directions of parallel processing. We received a total of 157 submissions this year, showing by both quantity and quality that ICA3PP is a premier conference on parallel processing. In the first stage, all papers submitted were screened for their relevance and general submission - quirements. These manuscripts then underwent a rigorous peer-review process with at least three reviewers per paper. In the end, 47 papers were accepted for presentation and included in the main proceedings, comprising a 30% acceptance rate.

This book constitutes the thoroughly refereed proceedings of the 18th International Conference, Euro-Par 2012, held in Rhodes Islands, Greece, in August 2012. The 75 revised full papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 228 submissions. This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 4th International Conference on Computational Logistics, ICCL 2013, held in Copenhagen, Denmark, in September 2013. The 19 papers presented in this volume were carefully reviewed and selected for inclusion in the book. They are organized in topical sections named: maritime shipping, road transport, vehicle routing problems, aviation applications, and logistics and supply chain management.
