This book takes a comparative approach to economic history to offer ways to increase our understanding of the divergence between South America and Scandinavia. In particular, the book aims to deepen our understanding of why the two groups of countries have set out on radically different pathways with regard to industrialisation, long-term economic growth and income distribution. The book draws together the results of two separate projects focusing on this comparison. The first of these projects focuses on two of the so-called settler societies of South America, namely Uruguay and Argentina, sometimes called the Pampas region. Australia and New Zealand, two other settler societies, are also considered, adding a further contrasting effect. These settler societies are compared with Scandinavia, in its broad terms, including Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland. The second of these projects focuses on comparisons between Brazil and Sweden. Together, the two projects have engaged the minds of economic historians from Brazil, Uruguay and Sweden. This book will be of interest to researchers and students in economic history and economic development more broadly.

Dabei werden grundlegende Prinzipien erläutert und die Zusammenhänge zwischen dem Immobilienmarkt und dem demografischen Wandel aufgezeigt und erklärt. Besonderes Augenmerk wird dabei auf die Nachfrage und Angebot nach Wohnimmobilien gelegt, wobei Einschätzungen zu zukünftigen Entwicklungen und Prognosen in die aktuelle Zeit eingeordnet werden. In dieser Arbeit werde ich mich auf die Region Frankfurt am Main konzentrieren, da sie einen Ballungsraum darstellt und daher erheblichen Veränderungen in der Bevölkerung unterliegt. Zudem ist die wirtschaftliche Stärke in dieser Region überdurchschnittlich hoch, was ihre Attraktivität für Zuwanderung weiter verstärkt. Darüber hinaus werde ich die besonderen Unterschiede in weiteren Großstädten aufzeigen und kontrastieren. Des Weiteren werde ich die Perspektive der Politik näher erläutern und die Herausforderungen, denen sie gegenübersteht, analysieren. Dabei werde ich auf Regulierungsversuche eingehen und sowohl ihre Erfolge als auch Misserfolge genau bewerten. Der demografische Wandel in Deutschland steht in direktem Zusammenhang mit dem Immobilienmarkt und beeinflusst diesen maßgeblich. Die Veränderungen in der Bevölkerungsstruktur, wie Altersstrukturen und Nettoeinkommen, spielen eine bedeutende Rolle im Angebot und der Nachfrage auf dem Wohnungsmarkt.Derzeit ist der demografische Wandel durch einen Rückgang der Geburtenrate, zunehmende Migration und eine stetige Alterung der Gesellschaft geprägt. Die Ursache für diese Entwicklung liegt in der "Babyboomer-Generation", die in den 1950er und 1960er Jahren eine überdurchschnittlich hohe Geburtenrate aufwies. The art, fashion and wine industries are currently at various stages in their efforts to embrace and transition towards sustainability. While sustainability commitments are a necessary condition for progress, they are not sufficient. Instead, there is a need for sweeping transformative change that includes giving serious consideration to indigenous worldviews without recolonizing them. Sustainability in Art, Fashion and Wine includes findings from recent research and contributes to a new understanding of familiar concepts such as sustainability, (de)colonization and corporate responsibility in the art, fashion and wine industries by adopting critical lenses and incorporating them with innovative perspectives on circular business models and digitalization.
