Trainees who treat sexually exploited children are helpless witnesses to long term psychological, social and physical effects of physical and sexual abuse trauma narratives.Trainees and those with limited training and self-care practices are at a greater risk for vicarious traumatization. Unfortunately little attention has been given to the experience of vicarious traumatization in trainees who treat sexually exploited children. In addition, there has been limited research on self-care training resources as a primary prevention tool against vicarious traumatization. The purpose of this study was to develop a self-care PowerPoint workshop to help prevent vicarious traumatization in trainees working with sexually exploited children. The validity of the workshop was evaluated by 5 experts in the field of vicarious traumatization, self-care, working with sexually exploited children and providing supervision to trainees.

Quantum algorithms for optimization often achieve speedups in the problem dimension. Yet, their error dependence and sensitivity to scale makes it challenging to identify broad classes of optimization problems for which thei r is a clear advantage over classical algorithms. This dissertation is comprisedof multiple projects spanning three parts that seek to reducethis gap. Part I concerns quantum linear algebra. We provide a construction for implementing matrix arithmetic operations, such as Kronecker and Hadamard products, on a quantum computer. Then, we demonstrate how Iterat ive Refinement can be leveraged to exponentialy improve the dependence on precision in the overall running time associated with classicaly solving linear systems of equations using quantum computers.

Diabetes Mellitus is a chronic disease that leads to long-term damage and dysfunction of various organs, such as the eyes, kidneys, nerves, heart, and blood vessels. Diabetic keratopathy is a significant ocular complication of diabetes that leads to persistent corneal epithelial defects and is a major cause of blindness due to its deviation from the normal wound healing process. Despite its significance, the pathogenic mechanism of diabetic keratopathy remains elusive and has received less attention compared to other diabetic complications due to its latent and chronicnature.

Recent years have witnessed rapid development in the field of quantum information science. Quantum technologies are promising to revolutionize many fields, ranging from fast computation and simulation to precise sensing and secure communication. While the performance of quantum devices in the current noisy intermediate-scale quantum (NISQ) era is still limited, exploring intriguing applications of various quantum systems has been an active research area. Among the many physical platforms, solid-state spin defects, such as nitrogen-vacancy (NV) center in diamond, have attracted a lot of attentions thanks to their good controllability and long coherence time even at room temperature.

The motion of the Earth's tectonic plates creates a gradual accumulation of stress at their boundaries, followed by a rapid release in earthquakes, a process known as the earthquake cycle. Studying this process is important because of the hazardsearthquakes pose, but presents challenges due to the multi-scale nature of the problem-stresses build up over hundreds to thousands of years, while earthquakes break narrow fault zones in a matter of seconds. In this thesis, we combine a varietyof techniques to study the earthquake cycle on multiple temporal and spatial scales, including satellite-based interferometric synthetic aperture radar (InSAR) to observe the slow deformation of the Earth over wide areas, and high-performancecomputational simulations to model faults during earthquakes. We begin by presenting a method for removing the signal of plate-tectonic motion in large-scale InSAR measurements, allowing for better observation of small ground deformations.

This dissertation's primary goal is to trouble the ableism embedded in how written communication is taught and evaluated. Drawing on principles of disability justice, user experience (UX) design, and socially just writing assessment theory, I develop equity-oriented approaches to classroom grading, writing program directed self-placement, and theories ofvalidity. I argue that for writing assessment ecologies to continue moving toward the goals of justice and equity, including intersectional anti-ableism, there must be commitments to crip community building, flexibility as access, radical trust, and participatory localization

In a general-purpose multicore multithreaded parallel environment, multiple threads work simultaneously to finish a task faster. Usually, threads need to communicate with each other due to the need to share data or synchronize access to shared data. Communications commonly occur when threads need to wait for the computational results of other threads before continuing their own computations; all necessary data dependencies need to be met before subsequent computations take place.

This nonexperimental, survey-based online quantitative study on nonprofit managers' technical training measures the extent of the influence on big data technology use. The unified theory of acceptance and use of technology is a theoretical framework todetermine whether business managers are trained to have know-how in using big data technology. This study followed a quantitative methodology to help narrow the gap in research between what is not known in relation to the nonprofit manager's technical training on the use of big data technology. Today's data is the most critical asset, but progress toward big data technology-oriented usage needs to be accessed by the nonprofit.

The nonprofit sector plays an important role in our country's economic landscape, contributing to 5% of the gross domestic product (GDP) of the United States (NCCS, 2020). Nonprofit organizations are often seen as a bridge, operating in collaboration with both the private sector and government entities (Shier & Handy, 2020). Nonprofits provide entry points for citizens to engage in their communities, either on a paid or volunteer basis (Mathews, 2020). In addition to serving as the third largest employer, an estimated 64 million adults (or 25% of the population) volunteered at least once in the last year for a nonprofitorganization
