Ever since I was a young kid, I've been a die-hard Liverpool FC fan. The dream of witnessing a thrilling match at Anfield and catching a glimpse of the players in front of the Melwood training center had always lingered in my mind. After graduating from college, the pressures of the real world were looming. My friends were scrambling to secure their dream jobs, investing time and effort to climb the career ladder. Amidst this hustle and bustle, I made a daring decision: I was going to turn my dream into reality. I hopped on my trusty bicycle and embarked on an epic journey to Liverpool. It took me 235 days to finally arrive at Anfield. From the heart of China through the vast landscapes of Mongolia, Russia, Kazakhstan, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Czech Republic, Germany, the Netherlands, and, at last, England. I braved the scorching heat of the Gobi Desert, the desolation of Siberia, and even cycled through the European winter. A staggering 17,190 kilometers later, I had reached my dream destination, only to watch the home match in a humble Liverpool pub. While I may not have achieved the dual goal of seeing a game at Anfield and boosting my career, I've never regretted my decision. This journey fulfilled a lifelong desire and taught me lessons that no classroom ever could. This book brings you along for the ride, recounting the real-life adventures and experiences that shaped this unforgettable journey.

Life is all about choices. The choices we make can make us who we want to be.It was never about what we want as a full picture, but as pieces that we put together to make a better picture. We are never given a complete life. It was never meant to be complete and we are never meant to be complete in any way.We are demanding creatures among all creatures. We always strive for more and never settled. Among all creatures, women are the most demanding. Not because they are unsatisfied and greedy but because they are smart enough to locate what is missing in their own lives. The woman in this book is a woman who went through different journeys to reach the destination she settled in today, but toxic thoughts of yesterday or maybe the hidden desires of tomorrow are living in her thoughts and hunting her present. She demands to be free, if not on the outside, then on the inside is enough for now.She is all of the women out there and is all the girls they once were.

A journeyThrough the hardships of life. The struggles,The darkness within,The rights,The wrongs. To a moment,A simple momentOf clarity,Leading toSelf-discovery.We each have our own journeys in life: paths we are forced to take, and passageways through which we all struggle. Darkness surrounds us, slowly consuming us, and a darkness within screams out the names of every sin. Every restless night, every tiresome day, every tearful fight, and every word we couldn't say. The rights and wrongs. The sorrows and heartbreaks. The times we were forced to play along. All of our mistakes. All of them. Everything leads to a moment that changes everything. A moment marking a new chapter in our lives. A moment of clarity, where we finally see the truth, where we finally see ourselves. A moment where we have a decision to make. A moment of choice, leading to self-discovery and marking yet another journey. A new journey, like all our other journeys. Darkness and light. Fight after fight. Nothing is right; nothing is wrong. This was justice all along. A path we must take for our own sake, to finally be able to see. A path for you. A path for me.

This book is neither fact nor fiction. It's something in the middle. It's about the universe and time and is a book for ordinary inquisitive people to read. Curious people who feel disconnected from much of the complex and jargon-heavy logic about the universe and time that comes from scientific or religious quarters. But the contents of this book might interest a broad segment of scientists causing them to raise their voices, hands and arms in agreement or most probably disagreement. Words like rubbish, stupid, and it's a naïve falsification may be uttered. So be it. This book is readable for the uninformed because most of it is in plain text and pictures with some elementary mathematics sprinkled here and there. Various simple questions are posed as to why our universe exists and how it happened. That happening was what the book terms a grey swan moment. Time will not tell if that moment was even a moment because time is an earthly fabrication of our imagination and is not real. Read this book and gain a fresh perspective on what has, is and might happen.

  • von Antonatie Jemwa
    23,00 €

For Antonatie Jemwa, The Journey, "...depicts the reality of events that each individual can relate to; it points out to positivity in the grand experience of life as it unfolds each chapter, just as each season, in a lifetime." Informed by faith, the poems have a common theme of love, of how enhancing and revitalising it can be, and yet at the same time so fragile. Grouped under headings like 'Family', 'Dreams', 'Character' and 'Gone', Jemwa shines a light on our interactions with the world, both metaphysical and real, which make The Journey a lottery that perhaps can only find an understanding through faith. The Journey is a meditation, a sensitive look at our condition through the instrument of poetry.

  • von Sheku Gibril Kamara
    17,00 €

This is the story of Sheku Gibril Kamara from his childhood days in Sierra Leone. It deals first with his parents in the capital, Freetown, and then with his aunt's family in the rural countryside. Educated in Freetown, he gained employment as an accounting assistant in the colonial Daily Mail newspaper in his home town and later at the iron ore mining company in nearby Lunsar, a job he relinquished to pursue his dreams of higher studies in Britain. With great finesse, Sheku provides intimate details about life as a private student in London and the political wrangling among fellow Sierra Leonean students. This culminated in the temporary seizure of the country's high commission at Portland Place in London in 1972 after a mass demonstration. Sheku and his colleagues were sent to the Old Bailey on a charge of treason but were instead found guilty of trespass. On appeal, the House of Lords reached the landmark judgment in British law: a case for trespass cannot hold where the national of a country occupies his country's diplomatic mission since that territory is, after all, deemed to be his home ground. Defended by Sir Dinglefoot, the students were bound to peace for six months... Upon the establishment of Sierra Leone's state-owned insurance company, Sheku was encouraged to return home to help develop the nation's market. When he became the Company's first indigenous chief executive, Sheku was to traverse the gruelling events that accompanied his role in top management. In what follows, the reader will join him in enjoying the exciting experiences with his supervising authorities...

  • von Peter J Crawford
    20,00 €

Peter Crawford is well known in Australia and internationally for his leadership in reforming governmental organisations and institutions, notably in environmental and water domains. In recent years he has focused on the role of political ideas and influence on national approaches to water management and water security. He is now one of the few international experts, who is both formally qualified and sufficiently experienced to write a book exploring the way politics and public policy formulation currently interact with science, social science and multiple interests in shaping national water security. In studying water security in Australia, China and Japan, Dr Crawford has shown that despite the great difference between the political ideologies of the three nations, the exercise of political power has frequently had similar adverse impacts on national water security outcomes - especially when independent, evidence-backed advice has been ignored. Equally, the way each nation has modified major river systems, by giving priority to economic development, has frequently compromised current and future efforts to achieve the sustainability of these systems and their potential to contribute positively to national water security. It becomes clear as the book progresses, that deterioration in national water security not only threatens human and environmental welfare but, if unchecked, could undermine future national welfare and prosperity in each nation. Yet, none of the three states under review has assigned water security the priority it deserves nor developed a national strategy to advance future water security. Other states could well benefit from analysis of this kind, by assessing the extent to which current policies and measures are impacting on national water security, followed by formulation of a strategy explicitly designed to improve future prospects.

  • von Mark Anstey
    21,00 €

Life is a process of mutual persuasion. Whatever our walk of life much of our everyday energy in interpersonal, intergroup and international relations is directed at trying to get others to do as we want, to change their behavior or beliefs. Change can evoke resistance, tensions rise, people find themselves in conflicts they cannot see a way out of. They precondition talks; become entrapped by escalation dynamics; struggle to listen effectively; misjudge one another's intentions, capacity, commitment or competencies; and make choices whose consequences they haven't thought through. Current and future relations become marooned on unresolved issues from the past. Some see better returns in perpetuating than resolving differences. Predatory neighbours and difficult political, social and economic conditions reduce the wriggle room for creative problem-solving. Drawing on 35 years of experience as a mediator in a changing South Africa, as a conflict scholar, and as a trainer across over 30 countries Mark Anstey shares insights into how people have broken through such impasses.

The Way of the Philosopher touches on a wide range of philosophical ideas and perspectives. It opens by pondering the meaning of philosophy itself, defining it as 'the search of truth' and 'the continual failure to get to the truth.' The author then dives into discussions of logic, reason, the patterns of thought, living in the present moment, and having an open, questioning attitude. There are reflections on the purpose of emotions, the subjectivity of morality, the illusion of past and future, and the importance of authenticity. Several chapters offer practical personal growth teachings, from cultivating self-awareness to overcoming fears and destructive thought patterns. Themes of freedom, autonomy, and self-reliance also feature prominently. Throughout, author Abdul Shakoor aims to share useful life lessons and timeless insights. The Way of the Philosopher emphasizes cooperating with others, facing challenges with courage, removing the veils of illusion, and ultimately living by following one's heart. While wide-ranging, the unifying message seems to be about seeking truth through philosophy and dedicated self-inquiry.
