This is a gentle story thought of a time I was practising playing my saxophone, looked upon by inquisitive camels. They are beautiful, gentle creatures, and even quite intelligent. So why couldn't one of them have an adventure alongside some of the really friendly local people? They too live a much slower pace of life than some of us, but they seem to be far more content. I hope it gives an idea of how we should value people in their diversity.

A short depiction of what it's like to have a mind that can't rest. Depression and anxiety is a deathly combination. Reading this book is not going to be a comfortable ride. It's going to be up and down and spin around, and around, and around. I know how it feels to be overwhelmed with feelings but struggle to find the words to express it. Feeling unable to talk about it, or unable to find the words for it, is such a painful feeling. So, I hope in this book you can find some words or ideas that you can use for yourself, or for your love ones to understand you. Sometimes it's hard for others to understand, but they do want to try to understand what it's like to have a head that spins like the merry go round.

Picture this: you wake in a hospital bed. Searing pain courses through your body from your toes to your head. On your head, there is a hole where they've placed a drain to counter the effects of the terrible subarachnoid haemorrhage you've suffered. You open your eyes, and the botched blood still remains in the right eye, as does the appalling double vision. You struggle to pull yourself a little more upright and reach over to the table with trembling hand to get the eye-patch to cover the now weeping eye. There's the hustle and bustle of the Intensive Care Unit beyond, and a TV plays in an adjacent bed. Every sound is muffled and distorted, like profound, dismal cathedral bells. This is hell. You struggle to sit up some more, pushing against the paralyzed right foot that slips helplessly against the sheets. You lean over again to hit the button for the bell that summons the nurse; more morphine is needed for the exhausting pain. Tonight, you will suffer a near-fatal catastrophic seizure brought on by blood seeping into the brain. Life, Death, Tai Chi and Me - My Brain Injury Journey is the incredible true story of an epic struggle to defy the odds and survive the most profound physical and mental trauma. If you've had a brain injury or know someone who has, if you've ever wondered what a near-death experience is actually like, if you've been intrigued by the power that martial arts can have on one's mental and physical resolve, if you question your own mortality and your place in the universe, or if you want to know what it's like to come back from the dead, then this book is for you.

Wherever you're from, from whatever background or class, no one knows what goes on behind closed doors. The trauma and abuse I was brought up with from a young child has made me the person that I am today. It is like a branding iron put onto a developing mind. The scars you cannot see but dictate my every moment, others of you out there will know exactly what I mean. I hold no shame for what was done to me as a child. It has certainly given me more tolerance for other's situations because of it. It has certainly made me more understanding. For all my adult life, I have suffered from mental health issues as a result. This itself has made me more empathetic with others. All these poems come from deep within. Some written from very dark places, others from hope and forgiveness, I've written many poems when I've had no one to talk to. Writing has always been there for me - it has always been my friend. Forgive those that hurt you for it will only harm you. Love and good luck Braveheart.

Somewhat late in life I decided to write a book based on an idea which had been kicking around in my head for some time. The story concerns some antique dealers who meet every Friday at 4am in the Caledonian Antique Market in Bermondsey in all weathers. The group spent a lot of time laughing about the futility of trying to deal with the rain, frost, and snow. When not soaking wet we are cold and shivery but turn up every week without fail because they love every minute of it. A buying trip to East Anglia turned out to be very eventful and profitable with several twists in the plot which it is hoped that the reader will enjoy. The results of this trip enabled us to form a business partnership with a view to making our fortunes. An unexpected inheritance enabled us to open a Mayfair showroom and stock it with our specialities of furniture, pictures, and ceramics. Later books may reveal the outcome of this venture.

Orixa of the Stars tells the story of a young princess who is forced to flee from the stars due to a huge vapour storm caused by the Wasenas. These are very small creatures with wings, and they remain so if one does not look at them, but as soon as one gives them any attention they grow and develop hairy bodies with short legs and leech off one's shoulders and surfaces of asteroids. Hence, Orixa, holding tight to her magical mirror along with her best friend princess Priska, find themselves on the remote island of Shofall on earth. Here, Orixa and Priska are received by Dharkjen, the oldest witch on the island, who has only one hand carrying a stick and who also has a necklace of eyes around her head to see everyone and everything from everywhere! Thence, Orixa travels through five more islands on her quest to build a ship and return to the stars. However, on each island she encounters either the witch Dharkjen or the Wasenas, and sometimes both who subject her to many adversities. Nevertheless, Orixa achieves higher levels of awareness on each of the islands. These are further reflected in songs throughout the story. Will Orixa reach her destination, or will she keep running away from Dharkjen?

We are COVID veterans together. We have felt the suspension of plans and certainties, apprehension for our own health and for those dear to us, separation from family and friends. These poems came about in the empty space, the clear table that COVID left in its wake. The palate cleansed allowed thoughts to percolate and mature; sights 'seen' frequently over many years were seen as if for the first time, the mystery and majesty of sunlight both in summer and winter, early and late. When we have everything, we can never have enough but when we have less we can appreciate the gifts that surround us, the blessing of presence. Feeling separated, these were an attempt to connect with friends, family, myself. Inside you'll find musings and bemusings on life after death, life before death, depression, dogs, cats, the wonderful world of nature around us, the mysterious world within us, politics, palmistry, children. Speaking of nature, she never got the memo. She just carried on. As should we.

We all have challenges to face in life, some greater than others. Most of us born in the developed world are extremely fortunate - something we need to remind ourselves of from time to time. It becomes apparent that it is more the state of mind than the actual circumstances which affect our ability to lead full and happy lives. This is brought home to us when we meet those less fortunate than ourselves. I see this with friends who maybe seemed shy and insecure but when they suffer a serious illness like cancer or some other disaster that occurs in their life, they find a courage and strength that surprises and impresses us all. Disabled people have much to teach us, can we even imagine life day after day in the circumstances in which some people live their entire lives, wheelchair-bound, unable to see or hear or communicate, control their actions or their lives? Yet many of these people show nothing but affection and gratitude, they remain cheerful, positive, and determined, to know such people is an honour and a truly humbling experience.

And now they seem to have brought one home, one that will surely require feeding. And what do monsters eat? Chickens of course, and lots of them! As the title shows, it has two main subjects: WWII and Potters Bar - which is my hometown, almost but not quite a suburb of London. The global public already has extensive knowledge of WWII, yet the same cannot be said of Potters Bar. Outside Britain, there are probably no more than a few thousand people who have even heard of it. But for me it was the hub of the universe as I grew up - passing through childhood, then adolescence, eventually teetering on the brink of adulthood. Not just battles and air-raids, victories and defeats - the hard stuff of war - all that's common knowledge. But - the things we did against that ever-present background. At home, at school, as we started out in jobs. Falling in love - and out of it! In short, the way we lived our everyday lives and yes, in spite of continuous tragic realities, the fun we had - tremendous fun at times. My memories are still extremely vivid - albeit many of them a child's eye view. Read all about it!
