The Reichsbürger Movement (Citizens of the Reich) have been gaining momentum in Germany for some time. The inspiration for writing poetry came from Sybil's fathers' story, which he wrote after her mother passed. Having left home at 13 she knew very little about her parents and initially was so enthralled with his story that she believed it would make a great book, but as she started to write found that writing in verse flowed much easier. Her siblings were also grateful for the writing of this first poem as they also had no idea of the early part of their fathers' life. From there she found everyday life and happenings around her gave her material to continue writing. Now retired and not having a mind cluttered with work, it never ceases to amaze her how these stories come to her and just must be written, often waking in the night, mulling over new poems, and having to quickly write lines down before trying to get back to sleep again. The local pastor has also tapped into this gift and she is often asked to write a poem to go with a Sunday sermon.

The Stars Will Always Shine describes how life has changed in Britain from the 1950s until the present day. It also details some of my hilarious travel adventures, particularly in America, and contains illustrations of some of my oil paintings. Two decades of my life were spent fighting the establishment for justice with considerable success, hence my decision to leave the UK in 2010 to live in a remote cabin in Maine, USA.

Charlemagne was perhaps one of the most remarkable of the Kings of France. Born on 7 April 742, his astonishing rise to power has long fascinated historians. The founder of the Carolingian dynasty, he united much of Western Europe under his banner. After he was crowned King of the Franks, he constantly travelled across his lands from Spain to Italy, defending his Realm, but also encouraging education, the building of beautiful public architecture, artwork, and the adoption of Christianity. There was contact with diverse rulers, from the Byzantine empire, the Saracens of Spain, Danish Kings and Kings of Wessex. He had to deal with treachery from within his own family, and dealt with numerous other factions in his reign, subduing the Lombards, Saxons and Avars, sometimes with magnanimity, and other times with severity. He lived to see five Popes of the Roman Catholic Church, and was finally crowned Holy Roman Emperor in 800. He, more than anyone else, made the European 'Dark Ages' light.

His elder daughter was all he-and a number of other men-found they wanted in a woman, and Lily soon learned to use her good looks and lively personality to the best advantage. But she was also hard-working and practical and, in her lifetime, held down a number of jobs which, in those times, women were not expected to be able to do. Was it a good life? Depends on what is meant by 'good.' Looking back, Lily would probably say there were plenty of good times, and more than a few regrets. But at least she lived it to the full. In every way. Mr Meeks is a "little" OCD, and very set in his ways, everything he does has a set routine, any deviating from the routine caused great anxiety, much to his annoyance. Mr Meeks spent most of his adult life taking care of his elderly parents; when they died, he was left on his own, and that was just the way he liked it. ...Until he met a young damsel in distress one evening, after he had consumed a few alcoholic beverages. Little did he know, but his whole life was about to be turned on its head. He found himself in very strange waters, hardly able to recognise himself. Suddenly, he was living in a full house and enjoying the noise, having fun, and enjoying the laughter, being confrontational on someone else's behalf, and enjoying the responsibility, loving others, and loving the feeling. This is a story one of emotional rollercoasters, huge surprises, shock revelations, some sadness, childhood sweethearts and, above all, love.
