At the core of scientific thought lies a fundamental misconception, one that has kept humanity ensnared in what future generations will dub the 'Aeons of Ignorance.' This book unveils this profound oversight, introducing a 'foundational grand narrative' that harmonizes the realms of science. Dive into the exploration of a long-anticipated unifying theory, rooted in a singular, recurring pattern. "Surely underneath it all is something so beautiful, so simple, that when we find it in a decade, a century, or a millennium, we will all turn to each other and say, how can it have been otherwise, how can we have been so stupid?" - John Wheeler, physicist

Hugh Graham lived from the start of the 20th century to the start of the 21st, in the sea-girt Highland Parish of North Knapdale in Argyll, Scotland. Great changes occurred in his lifetime, and the centuries before - changes in land use and culture that saddened him, even angered him, but he had ever the serenity and pragmatism of the West Highlander - the Gael. In this place the Irish Gaels arrived over 1,500 years ago, establishing the proto-Scottish nation, in a green place amidst the ancient grey crags, with the blessing of the monks in the holy island of Iona on Argyll's North-Western edge. Amidst the craggy hills and raised lochs of Knapdale, and prehistoric standing stones and burial mounds of wide Kilmartin Glen, and old chapels on the long peninsulas reaching into the Hebridean Sea, and the ruins of villages in the now-sheep-cropped glens, lived Hugh Graham and his ancestors.

Welcome to Brungle Farm, the last stronghold of the indomitable Brungle twins, Bees and Clarafina. Alongside them live twelve laborers and their families, subjected to the twins' unyielding rule reminiscent of their formidable grandfather, Grandpa Brungle. Their reign is as rigid and crushing as any tyrant's, their whims leading to the spilling of workers' blood merely for amusement. When they are not the centre of the twins' cruel games, the workers are treated with disdain even the farm's cockroaches would find familiar. Soon, an enigmatic figure known as Leader approaches the farm with a proposal for Bees. Leader seeks to leverage Bees' influence as the face and voice of a burgeoning political party, aiming to seize control over the entire country. However, the anticipation Leader harboured for weeks rapidly curdles into alarm upon hearing of a man named Petrus, a serene ex-priest. Despite being cruelly uprooted from his home and forced to toil on Brungle Farm, Petrus has been sowing seeds of hope among his fellow workers. Word of Leader's murderous intentions for Petrus and the rest ignites a series of events that, after a night of destiny, will forever alter the face of Brungle Farm.

Martin Penny, a disillusioned and awkward young man, looks back to a turning point in his life - when his old, boring, and enthusiasm-destroying English teacher was arrested for pimping and was replaced by a fresh new teacher, a man who managed to blow off the dead-dust of his predecessor and rekindle the reader and writer in Martin. Martin, now an English teacher himself, has to come to terms with which of these two teachers he has come to resemble most - the one he hates or the one he emulates. Written in a free and easy style, Small Doses is a celebration of reading, writing, poetry, diary-keeping and of the little bits of magic poked, prodded and relighted back to life from the embers of memory.

This fragile, fragile philosophy unexpectedly developed an enormous power of conviction and direction. It invented individual rights, it founded our way of thinking, it created science in the third century B.C. in Alexandria, it invented democracy. From what characteristics does all this power, the fragile philosophy, derive? These ancestors of ours, the classical philosophers, had postulated three things, then forgotten. a) The word is not the thing, the sentence is not the fact, the language is not the world. Not even an image of them. b) Our thinking is groundless, because the initial concepts, let's say the axioms from which we start to think, are not based on anything, because they are precisely the first. c) Thought, rational discursive intellect, and language are the same, logos, one word indicates one and the other. Thought and language are the same thing.

Grace's world crumbled when Ben, her young husband, passed away unexpectedly. Just when the grief seemed too much to bear, an advertisement caught her eye: a quaint inn for sale in picturesque Cornwall. Though the price was daunting, the dream was within reach-fulfilling her late husband's aspiration of owning a pub. But could she, a novice, manage such a venture? Reaching out to her eldest son, Brian, for advice, his skepticism became the unexpected spark that ignited her determination. 'Running a pub isn't as simple as shopping for shoes,' he warned. Yet, when he offered to discuss it further with his brother, John, Grace's resolve was set. She was claiming the Sea Drift Arms for herself, along with its intriguingly stubborn caretaker, Arnold Tresider. With Arnold's guidance and a few inevitable missteps, Grace transformed the inn, navigating the nuances of her new world. The courage to dive into the unknown brought unexpected rewards and a renewed zest for life. However, renovating the inn's dilapidated snug into a dining space pits Grace against the formidable local landowner, Nicholas Penrudock. Their previous run-in- a near-collision on the roads - was just the beginning of their tumultuous relationship. As tensions rise, Grace must navigate her newfound life, determining whether this Indian summer has room for love, conflict, or a fresh start.

This book is a tribute to the shamans of the Orinoco, those men who learned to bow to nature by using the multiple facets of the human mind. It is also the expression of a blood debt of more than five hundred years, for where many saw only charlatanism and deception, there was an elaborate tradition of wisdom, far ahead of its time, which vanished forever as a result of the violence that followed the discovery of America.

This is the story of my grandfather's life in the Merchant Navy, originally written by him during his retirement. He was a Marine Engineer from 1908 to 1945. This book describes a lifetime of adventure, hardship, and joy on all the different ships that he sailed, from grand liners to rusty hulks. He survived the two world wars, the depression of the 1930s, and at one time he even took his family to sea with him. He sailed on the Oceanic, the Olympic, the Britannic, and almost sailed on the Titanic. During the First World War he spent some time as a volunteer tugboat engineer at the Gallipoli Landings and later saved a ship from sinking from a torpedo strike. During the Second World War he survived two shipwrecks from torpedo strikes and avoided another sinking, thanks to the Enigma code breakers. He met a whole variety of people throughout the world during his career and often gave humorous talks in many ports that he visited around the world. This book also gives some details on the ships he sailed and a small window into the events, and the world at those times.
