I stood in front of the headstone which read 'Rita Rocca Nee Tomlin (15/6/1942 - 21/10/2020)' and thought, 'Is this all there is? Her name on a headstone with mine to follow.' I remembered a warm May Day in 1948, when we both kneeled at the same altar waiting for a priest to give us our first taste of Jesus. She, in her white dress, was wondering if the day would yield enough for a new doll and pram, while I wondered if mine would yield enough for roller skates and maybe a new football. I recalled the honeymoon in Jersey in 1963, Miss World at the Royal Albert Hall in 1980, and the ball that followed at the Savoy Hotel. I said, "Sorry girl, I can't give you a Taj Mahal, but I will write a book, which will hopefully make us more than just names on a tombstone."

A poignant story of the impact of war on a defenceless French village during the Second World War. Four courageous villagers join the Maquis, the Resistance in Vichy occupied France, to protect their families. They are swept into a treacherous conflict where one false word or brave action can result in the torture and death of people they know and love. One old man and a young girl survive the savage destruction that wipes out the whole community. This novel uses the recorded history of the devastation of many rural villages in the Aveyron, Lot and Tarn departments of the Midi-Pyrénées. Oradour-sur-Glane in the Haute-Vienne Department is a famous memorial to the brutality of the Second World War.

Roberta Albrecht has discovered an adept way to transform fiction into truth. As in the familiar beast fable, the subjects of her alchemy are a series of animals or animal-like creatures, all of whom lack the experiences essential to transformation. Albrecht invites her readers to join them in the decision-making process when she situates them in a specific alembic, that is, in the widely heterogeneous society of New York City where they suffer and learn to survive. All of her subjects begin or end their lives within the geographical confines of New York's five boroughs: The Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, and Staten Island. All are confronted with serious questions: Where can I find a friend? How can I join a group? (Or should I?) Where can I be safe? How can I find happiness? Albrecht's illustrations focus on details particular to these moments, marking the challenges, failures, and successes of each. Her drawings serve as vignettes that enrich the text, making a complete experience, making the visual and verbal arts converge. Readers of these fables will sometimes ponder and sometimes laugh. Sometimes, it is hoped, they will discover things once thought familiar to be refreshingly new.

This book is three decades of my clinical work in one fictitious story. It is based on the marginalization of deaf individuals and is about Mary, a hearing child born to deaf parents. The difference however is that Mary is the outsider as the majority of the world is deaf. Her parents Ellen and Ben feel completely overwhelmed and her siblings react with anger and confusion that their sister is different. Mary's life is set in a history of her grandmother's life lived with love, sorrow, and mystery. Their stories will ask you to think outside of all you know and to imagine life as you never thought it.

In Scientism: A New World Dream, the author delves into the rise of left-brain dominance in Western culture and its impact on our understanding of the world. The author argues that this shift has led to a more distanced and factual approach, akin to the denatured view of science and the emergence of scientism. Through examination of cultural movements throughout history, the author suggests that this mindset has resulted in a disregard for actual fact-checking and a reliance on ideas over reality, leading to the prevalence of fake news and opinions. This book provides a thought-provoking examination of the impact of scientism on our society and raises important questions about the nature of truth and reality.

As soon as Rebecca entered the house, she could tell something was off. Just a feeling but she knew her home and something wasn't right. She stood for a moment without turning on the lights. She moved slowly through the living room. Nothing looked out of place. She started toward the kitchen and there it was. A shadow. Now she wished she had listened to Hershel and kept her small pistol in her purse. Hershel had bought it for her after their experience with the drug smugglers six months ago. She had even taken lessons but none of that was going to do her any good now. The pistol was upstairs in the draw of her bedside table. And the shadow was between her and the stairs.Hershel always said if you can't get away and you have no weapon---hide. So that's what she did.Rebecca slipped inside the closet just off the living room. She felt in her purse for her phone and being as quiet as possible called Andrew. As soon as he answered she said, "I need some help, someone is in the house. I'm hiding in the closet off the living room. How quick can you get here?"Andrew's entire body went cold. "Rebecca don't move I'm on the way. I can be there in less than ten minutes. Just stay quiet. I'm on the way." He repeated. "Rebecca, do you hear me I'm coming?" But Rebecca didn't answer. She was already gone.

The Gifted 3 is a book for children between the ages of 12 and 17. It introduces them to a time in history where events happened that are often skimmed over or are nonexistent in schools today. Wouldn't it be great if children could travel through time and see history as it actually happened? I would like this book to peak the interest of children in regards to historical events, genetic manipulation, science, and the possibility of time travel. Has social injustice always been an issue in America and the world? What could the gifted three do to make a difference? Are we alone in this vast universe? Julia, Maggie, and Sophia are all exceptionally gifted; however, they have totally different personalities. Being different is an asset to improving the future, not a failure. Life on Earth will never improve until we recognize being different can be a gift.
