A Life of Hell is a true story of my life. I am a Vietnam veteran who's trying to conquer the demons that have haunted me for over forty-six years. Now I'm able to write about it. Th is has been therapy for me, and now, the nightmares have stopped.

"e;Twenty-eight... Twenty-nine... Thirty..."e;The counting is the only sound she hears as her ordinary day takes an unexpected turn. She never sees it coming, yet she knows one day this moment will arrive. It is here on this bridge where her story began, and it is here where these strangers fi ght to save her. Musings of a Preacher's SonLife is so precious yet unpredictable. No matter what education or background we come from, none of us knows how our lives will evolve. I never thought I would write poetry, but at fifty-five, I became a poet. The wisdom acquired through my life's experiences forms the prelude for my interest in writing these poems that reflect my life as the son of a priest, a Christian, a father, a husband, and a practicing lawyer. Some of my musings are inspired by being raised in a large and colorful Greek-American family. My observations about people, religion, nature, the world, love, and life are reflected in my writings. No matter who we are, we are shaped by our parents, our environment, our culture, and our upbringing. We all want the same comforts in life; and we all show our weaknesses and strengths through our passions, prejudices, and talents. I hope one or more of these poems speaks to you in some small way.

This writing shares portions of my devotional journaling with you the reader. I continue to be amazed about reading the Word of God and how it continues to speak and teach on God's plan for life in this world. As well the Word teaches, heals and meets needs timely and at times when I'm not aware of my own needs. My desire is that others will be encouraged to read the Word regularly and to take up the discipline of journaling. Be open to be blessed.

Is our Lord's return imminent? Many Christians believe it is"e;"e;emphasizing that He has promised to return and that as His disciples, we must be ready. Yet in spite of their assurance, surprisingly few of God's people may actually be prepared for His appearing. Of the many signs suggesting that our Lord's return is near, two in particular are of great interest"e;"e;the rise of Babylon and the restoration of Israel. These two major end-time events as foretold in Scripture have great implications for us as Americans, and more specifically as Christians. He is a well-known author, most notably of the MasterLife discipleship materials. This biography-written memoir-style through his own journals, letters, and newsletters to his intercessors-recounts Avery's life journey, his spiritual encounters and struggles, and the daily habits that Avery demonstrated as a disciple. It is less about his greatest moments than the personal daily choices to follow God with all his heart. It is the story of a man committed to God's purposes and passion to bring "e;as many people of the world as possible"e; to God's redemptive grace in Jesus, regardless of the cost.

Called is not about chasing. It's about following. It's not about going. It's about staying. It's not about us. It's about Him. It's not a "e;how to."e; It's a "e;who through."e; It doesn't say, "e;I can do this."e; It says, "e;He'll get me through this."e; It's not about shining bright. It's about reflecting His light. It's not about aiming to please. It's about pleasing the King. When these six little verbs take root in our heart, that's when we are able to start living set apart:need, be, see, know, grow, and sowThese six little verbs are stepping stones into the places God is calling each of us. Unique paths paved by the same six words"e;"e;paths that are both practical and purposeful. This Bible study is for the woman wanting more but tired of dream chasing and fear facing only to discover she's still rat racing. King Solomon in Ecclesiastes mentions this chasing after the wind, but in John, King Jesus reminds us that is all about abiding in Him. When asking someone why they hold a political or social justice belief, they often are at a loss to defend it. We need articulate defenders of the biblical justice agenda. As people of faith, more of us should be able to explain why we reach out to others to assist during times of need or at times when they cannot speak up for themselves. This is the example set for us through the ministry of our Old Testament prophets and New Testament Jesus. Lay people often want to get right to the point and not always have to wade through the academic jargon of the various religious disciplines. My volume gives them some examples of how certain scripture, once it is employed, was and is used to support the mandate to "e;feed the hungry, clothe the naked, heal the sick, and set free the captives"e; and that the nations will be judged by the way they treat the "e;least of those among us."e; The volume has real world applications. Justice can be done through direct service; education about the issues; or systemic advocacy as shown here.

Don't be fooled by all the different stories about Christmas. It's because the real Christmas story has been under attack. As innocent as it seems, we are in a battle. The battle is not over entertaining our children with stories that make up the Christmas season. It's over making sure our children understand there is only one real Christmas story, and how can we tell a story if we don't include the ending. Jesus did come into the world as a baby, but he left as our savior. I'm not trying to take away all the stories told about Christmas; I'm just trying to tell the greatest story ever told. And it's not even my story"e;"e;it's God's story about how much he loves us and what he did to prove it. It is my hope that all children will know the real Christmas story.

From Alcatraz to Africa is the amazing story of the Konnerup family who were pioneer missionaries in East Africa. It is the story of how two young people from different settings came to Jesus, met each other, and together answered the call of God to be missionaries in Ethiopia. By many fascinating stories, you will be taken through the difficulties of living in primitive areas with unique customs, see life as a missionary in the pioneer days of the 1960s and 1970s, observe all kinds of struggles to live, including separation from their children, view what ministry in rural Africa was like, and eventually learn how they persevered during a communist takeover. At the same time, God worked through this family to reach many people with the Gospel. People who had never even heard the name of Jesus and who lived in fear of evil spirits found the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Many lives in northern Ethiopia were transformed from fear of the devil to freedom in Jesus Christ. The Konnerup's encounters were harrowing, funny, incredible, and even miraculous as they experienced God's protection and answers to prayer. So what does Alcatraz have to do with all of this? In a sense, part of this journey starts there. As you read their journey from Alcatraz to Africa, you will come away inspired as you see how God can use ordinary people to do extraordinary things. No doubt, you will gain an appreciation of the power of prayer and believe that it really does work.

Many of us think we know what the price system is, and because of this, we do not take the time to explore it to any real depth. This one mistake is perhaps the biggest reason our economy is in such bad shape. It is the reason countries around the world have the economic hardship that they face today. You can do something to help the world dig itself out from under these problems. It is said that knowing about a problem is the first step in resolving that problem. Knowing about the price system could save your economic life, your family's future, and perhaps even the planet. These are big claims, and it is hard to believe that the price system could be threatening all of these things. This book addresses those claims in a way that is easy for the reader to follow. Maverick was a strong and outgoing blond-haired, blue-eyed sixteen-year-old that had the world at his fingertips, or so his family thought. The Gospel of John was the first book in the Bible that I read in its entirety after I became a Christian. In this Gospel, Jesus said the following: In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.) (John 7:37"e;"e;39). The phrase rivers of living water immediately caught my attention. For the next several years, I studied, thought about, questioned, and wondered what that really meant. The book you are about to read is the culmination of much study, prayer, and labor focused on this passage of scripture. My prayer and desire is that you come to the same conclusion that Paul did in Philippians 2:13, "e;For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure."e; The Holy Spirit is so much more than we can ever truly comprehend, yet the Bible has a lot to say about him and how he interacts with us. It is imperative for us to better know the helper (Rom 8:26) especially in the days and times in which we live.

During daily walks, I have gathered a lot of thoughts about my fellow walkers. Oftentimes I have thought, "e;What's their story?"e; as I have passed by them and said hello. The manner in which a person responds to a greeting is quite telling. Watching a person's mannerisms, eye contact, and general facial expressions tell a passerby a lot. These forty short stories are a fictional reflection of the day-to-day stories that anyone could be experiencing as they walk the daily walk of life in this modern time in America, in the beautiful park with the oaks.

How an old bicycle repairman during the mid-1930s in the small town of Xenia, Ohio (Dalton "e;Wiz"e; Reinholdt), and a high school kid from the neighborhood (William Paul "e;Doc"e; Sanders II), Wiz's would-be apprentice, became friends.
