["e;Rulings in Ecclesiastical Matters Since 1946"e;]The collection of rulings publishes the administration of justice by governmental courts in the Federal Republic of Germany pertaining to the relationship of church and state, and also regarding further problems which are characterized by the relevance of religious concerns.

The fragmentary remains of the Carmen Saliare have been the object of scholarly discussions for centuries, but no exhaustive collection has been published after 1894. This work intends to fill this gap by gathering all the testimonies on this ancient hymn. This new commentary takes into account all the various issues posed by the text. First of all, it undertakes a philological reassessment of the most important manuscripts in which the fragments are preserved (Varro's De Lingua Latina, T. Scaurus' De Orthographia and Festus' De Verborum Significatione). The readings thus established are the basis for the ensuing linguistic analysis conducted on the fragments, in which new suggestions are proposed. In the hypothetical restoration of the text, a scheme of antiphonic recitation is reconstructed in which different 'voices' are identified. The review of the testimonies as a whole - together with a comprehensive collection of the classical sources on the Salian tradition - presents a picture of the linguistic and cultural frame in which the hymn was composed. By combining linguistic, philological and cultural data, this work offers a thorough survey of the Carmen Saliare to scholars interested in the most ancient phase of old Latin.

Sigillography has provided Byzantine studies with large amounts of new material for analysis. The articles in Studies in Byzantine Sigillography deal with all aspects of Byzantine sigillography: presentation of new finds, discussion of new methods, questions of the political and ecclesiastical administration of Byzantium, prosopography, historical geography, and art-historical and iconographical problems.

This book provides an interpretation of Plato's Euthydemus as a unified piece of literature, taking into account both its dramatic and its philosophical aspects. It aims to do justice to a major Platonic work which has so far received comparatively little treatment. Except for the sections of the dialogue in which Socrates presents an argument on the pursuit of eudaimonia, the Euthydemus seems to have been largely ignored. The reason for this is that much of the work's philosophical import lies hidden underneath a veil of riotous comedy. This book shows how a reading of the dialogue as a whole, rather than a limited focus on the Socratic scenes, sheds light on the work's central philosophical questions. It argues the Euthydemus points not only to the differences between Socrates and the sophists, but also to actual and alleged similarities between them. The framing scenes comment precisely on this aspect of the internal dialogue, with Crito still lumping together philosophy and eristic shortly before his discussion with Socrates comes to an end. Hence the question that permeates the Euthydemus is raised afresh at the end of the dialogue: what is properly to be termed philosophy?

Research into ancient scholarship had long wanted as complete as possible a critical edition of early Greek natural philosophers. As the title Traditio Praesocratica indicates, the aim of this new edition of individual volumes is not to reconstruct connections between works, but rather to document the transmission of early Greek philosophy, as preserved in the traditions of the various classical and late antique philosophical schools, in chronological order. This includes the Latin and Syro-Arabian traditions up to the early medieval period. The original texts are presented together with a German translation, supplemented where necessary with an introduction and notes. A detailed introduction is dedicated to the doxographic peculiarities for the Pre-Socratic concerned. It is planned to publish a revised edition with English translations some two or three years later entitled Traditio Praesocratica. Textual evidence on early Greek philosophy and its continuation . Parallel to the volumes on individual philosophers, the series Studia Praesocratica will present commentaries, monographs and edited volumes on early Greek philosophy and its doxography.

Mit den Commentaria et Lexica Graeca in Papyris reperta wird der Fachwelt ein einzigartiges papyrologisches Sammelwerk vorgelegt. Die bisher verstreut publizierten, auf Papyrus erhaltenen Teile antiker griechischer Kommentare - d.h. der Hypomnemata und Randnotizen zu griechischen Autoren sowie der Glossare und Lexika - werden in diesem Lexikon alphabetisch zusammengefuhrt. Zu jedem im Lexikon erfassten Fragment erhalt der Benutzer zunachst einen Uberblick uber Herkunft, Entstehungszeit und derzeitigen Aufbewahrungsort sowie uber alle dazu bisher erschienenen Publikationen. Darauf folgen die Anmerkungen unter Auswertung aller vorliegenden Aspekte in der jeweiligen Landessprache des Kommentators. Das Werk wird von mehr als 40 Wissenschaftlern aus verschiedenen europaischen und auereuropaischen Landern erarbeitet. Im 2-Jahres-Rhythmus sind je ein bis zwei Lieferungen im Umfang von 250 - 300 Seiten vorgesehen. Das Gesamtwerk, das insgesamt etwa 15 Lieferungen umfassen soll, ist in vier Hauptteile gegliedert: Pars I: Commentaria et lexica in auctores; Pars II: Commentaria in adespota; Pars III: Lexica; Pars IV: Concordantiae et Indices. Bis jetzt noch nicht publizierte Papyri werden im Anhang reproduziert.

This book presents an archaeological study of Crete in transition from the Neolithic to the Early Bronze Age (c. 4000 to 3000 BC) within the broader South Aegean context. The study, based on the author's own fieldwork, contains a gazetteer ofover 170sites. The material from these sites will prompt archaeologists in Greece, Turkey, and the Middle East to reconsider their understanding of the foundation of Bronze Age civilization in the Aegean.

Alhena Gadotti offers a much needed new edition of the Sumerian composition Gilgamesh, Enkidu, and the Netherworld, last published by Aaron Shaffer in his 1963 doctoral dissertation. Since then, several new manuscripts have come to light, prompting not only a new edition of the text, but also a re-examination of the composition. In this book, Gadotti argues that Gilgamesh, Enkidu, and the Netherworld was the first, not the last of the Sumerian stories about Gilgamesh. She also suggests that a Sumerian Gilgamesh Cycle, currently only attested in old Babylonian manuscripts (ca. 18th century BCE), was in fact developed during the Ur III period (ca. 2100-2000 BCE). Providing a new way to look at the Sumerian Gilgamesh stories, this book is relevant not only to scholars of the ancient Near East, but also to anyone interested in epic and epic cycle.

Die vom Institut für Kirchenrecht und rheinische Kirchenrechtsgeschichte an der Rechtswissenschaftlichen Fakultät der Universität zu Köln betreute Sammlung "Entscheidungen in Kirchensachen seit 1946" bietet die Judikatur staatlicher Gerichte zum allgemeinen Religionsrecht und zum Verhältnis von Kirche und Staat. Die Sammlung ist die einzige ihrer Art im deutschsprachigen Raum. Sie bildet zugleich ein Dokument der Zeitgeschichte. Es ist beabsichtigt, künftig auch die für die Verhältnisse in Deutschland relevante Rechtsprechung europäischer Gerichtshöfe in die Sammlung einzubeziehen.

Sozomena"e; bedeutet auf Griechisch Gerettetes"e;. Die Reihe widmet sich der Erschlieung von Texten, die aus der griechischen und romischen Antike nur durch ausserordentliche Fund-Umstande erhalten geblieben sind - allen voran durch Papyri, von denen Tausende in Universitaten und Bibliotheken unentziffert vorhanden sind. Die Reihe soll hauptsachlich Texte edieren und interpretieren, aber auch die Methoden der Erschlieung diskutieren. Verschiedene Buchtypen werden daher hier veroffentlicht: Texteditionen, Kommentare, Monographien und Sammelbande. Die Hauptsprache der Publikationen ist Englisch, daneben auch Deutsch und Italienisch. Herausgegeben werden die Sozomena von Alessandro Barchiesi (Harvard, MA), Robert Fowler (Bristol), Dirk Obbink (Oxford und Ann Arbor, MI) und Nigel Wilson (Oxford) im Namen der Herculaneum Society, die zur Forderung der Erschlieung des wichtigsten Fundkomplexes antiker Papyri gegrundet wurde: der Villa dei Papiri im Pompeji benachbarten antiken Herculaneum mit ihren zum Teil noch nicht ausgegrabenen Schatzen an Textrollen.

DIE REIHE: IVS-SAXONICO-MAIDEBVRGENSE IN ORIENTE Die Reihe versammelt vornehmlich die Arbeitsergebnisse des Akademievorhabens "Das sächsisch-magdeburgische Recht als kulturelles Bindeglied zwischen den Rechtsordnungen Ost- und Mitteleuropas". Neben diesen handbuchartigen Publikationen zu den Untersuchungsgebieten (Polen, Ungarn/Rumänien, Tschechien/Slowakei,Baltikum, Ukraine, Weißrussland, ...) finden hier Studien zu Fragestellungen im Zusammenhang mit dem Transfer sächsisch-magdeburgischen Rechts in Ostmitteleuropa ihren Platz.

Dieser Band enthalt die Referate und Diskussionen der Tagung der Deutschen Staatsrechtslehrer in Linz vom 5. bis 8. Oktober 2016.

Die Forderungsanmeldung ist das rechtliche Instrument, mittels dessen die Glaubiger in dem uber das Vermogen des Schuldners eroffneten Insolvenzverfahren ihre Rechte verfolgen konnen. Von der Rechtsprechung an die Forderungsanmeldung gestellte Anforderungen rufen in der Praxis Probleme hervor, denen in dieser Untersuchung mit dem Ziel nachgegangen wird, dem Glaubiger Hilfestellungen zu geben. Hierzu dient die eingehende Auseinandersetzung mit Voraussetzungen und Folgen des Widerspruchs gegen die Anmeldung durch Bestreiten der Forderung durch Insolvenzverwalte rund andere Glaubiger im Verfahren der Forderungsprufung. Den Wirkungen der Feststellung zur Tabelle wird ebenso besonderes Augenmerk gewidmet wie dem Tabellenfeststellungsprozess, in dem der Glaubiger bestrittener Forderungen sei Recht verfolgt.
