They seldom smile or they laugh too long, too loud. They are at the center of activity, effectively leading to accomplish goals or they are quiet at the perimeter, contributing little. Pretty, handsome, well-groomed, simple, plain; age, gender, socioeconomic standing-nothing appears to be a common factor. The sense of non-entity, loneliness, namelessness can happen to anyone, at any time, and for any length of time. Everyone is vulnerable. He will not forsake us. He will offer us the peace that passes all understanding. Peace that comes with having nothing between Him and us. When we seek professional or pastoral help, we need to remember He is only a prayer away.About the AuthorJerry Beasley lives with her husband, Jim, in Hutchinson, Kansas, where they raised their son and two daughters. • von J. Thomas Whetstone
    17,00 €

Dr. Whetstone has written a much-needed book that gives us a practical, clear approach to ethical decision making. I know of no other book on leadership that proves its value so remarkably by melding theory, method, and hands-on practice-and all from a Christian perspective. As a growing array of stakeholders exert pressure, our institutions are pushed and pulled between competing measures of success. Christian character in our students, high enrollment, financial health, employable students, and accreditation are only a few we could name. Yet within this milieu, we want to be faithful to our calling to serve Christ. How does a Christian administrator make a good, ethical decision amid the complexity? Whetstone suggests a way through while continually challenging us to be the "light for the dark side." This book should be required reading for all Christian college and university teachers.- Dr. Beth M. Doriani, former dean, College of Arts & Sciences, Eastern UniversityEducators, administrators, and faculty of Christian institutions should, and can, serve their institution's mission according to a God-honoring ethic. But this is not easy. Teaching and research faculty commonly refer to their administration-the president, provost, and deans-as the Dark Side. Faculty members appointed to administrative positions are sometimes considered traitors for going over to the Dark Side. The twelve cases offered in this book are based on actual situations involving relations and tensions among university presidents, provosts, deans, department chairs, and other full-time and adjunct faculty members. Questions accompanying each case seek to guide rational discussion of ethical issues involving conflicts of interest, hiring and termination, communication practice, new program development, and relations among students, faculty, and consultants.

  • von Khalid Chowdhry
    26,00 €

Pakistan is the only country to be created in the name of Islam. Due to the movement led by Muhammad Ali Jinnah and the Indian subcontinent's struggle for independence, Pakistan was created in 1947 as an independent homeland for Indian Muslims. After the announcement of British exit from India, Muslims were anxious over the prospect of universal suffrage and majority rule. They would be overwhelmed by the Hindu majority. Inevitably, they successfully secured the division of India into two separate sovereign states - India and Pakistan. Tracing the historical, social, and economic rationale for the creation of Pakistan, Apocalypse 1947 is the author's personal account of his experience and recollection of the events leading to the partition of the Indian subcontinent into two separate countries and the following aftermath. Events unfold chronologically, written by an eyewitness to it all. Drawing heavily on scholarly contributions by authors writing on subjects relating to his story, Chowdhry chose writers with non-South Asian origination. He endeavors to dispel untruths by authors hired to malign Pakistan. This book strives for an accurate determination of responsibility in each case for actions by individuals and entities. About the Author Khalid Chowdhry was an eyewitness to the 1947 division of the Indian subcontinent, creating present-day Pakistan. Growing up surrounded by political upheaval, it's no surprise he became interested in politics. While in college in Pakistan, Chowdhry participated in debates and became a social activist. He has an environmental engineering degree from the University of London, where he was a commentator in the Urdu service of the BBC from 1960 to 1963. Having worked on environmental projects in England, the Middle East, and the United States, Chowdhry once again lives in Pakistan.

  • von Victor Grant
    25,00 €

Sunken Sunlight has a vigorous and animated breeze. It is a novel about the brevity of life, which slowly fades towards a particular finish. It has a joyful view. Its purpose is to ask questions through a faded smile and, skirting the outlines, represent itself in new clothes and redefine the cardinal outlines behind those ethereal modes of writing which induce the mind into graceful contemplations. There is only a continual bit of pallid pigmentation running about the pages and casting soft glimmers through the breeze and the waves and the little lingering beauty by the tip of every evanescent line. Soft words throb in a land of their own, where perhaps, like everything else, the beauty of the world may softly seep down from the horizons laid ahead of it.About the AuthorSunken Sunlight is the third novel by Victor Grant, who has previously written When Does the Sorrow End and A Sound from Above. Only 20, Victor has found writing to be an enlivening and enlightening pursuit that allows him to portray the scenery of life with the feeble, fickle brush of language.

  • von Mark Guinn
    24,00 €

Author Mark Guinn has always believed that, at some point in life, everybody questions the "why" of life. Guinn's question arose early in life, around sixth grade. Being born and raised as a Catholic in northern Iowa had a significant effect on him. Guinn felt the stories that the nuns told of the Old Testament were very moving and uplifting. Then, with a move to Minnesota when his father took a job there, Guinn's belief in Catholicism saw God from a different view. Years later, a trainee cultural exchange student came into Guinn's life. In her, Guinn saw a closer, more personal one-on-one relationship with God than he had ever seen before. And I Ran from Her is Guinn's view on an ever-changing world that set the "me" in life's "theme." About the AuthorMark Guinn is the third oldest in a family with ten kids. Needless to say, his parents had their hands full in providing for them. Even though Guinn put himself through college, he is still surprised he graduated from high school. It's not as if he was born in the horse-and-buggy days, but his father's view of homework was work "at home" that needed to be done. With that said, Guinn did learn how to work. Work was his foundation, his foothold in life-anything worth doing is worth doing well. Guinn's work ethic earned him recognition for intuitive reasoning, leadership, and getting the job done. Guinn believes life is worth living, that the way to move forward is to look for the good in all things, and that the biggest room in the world is the room for improvement. He wants readers to know that regardless of where you are in life, there will be some area, some aspect that at some point needs to be improved, and that one should not be afraid of taking the next step in life, one step at a time.
