  • von Bruce C. Steffens
    27,00 €

The Obvious Secret explores the various major beliefs of the Christian faith from a logical and analytical standpoint. It is intended for two purposes. First, it is a resource to develop Christian discipleship curriculum for teachers and instructors. Secondly, it is self-study resource for seekers, new believers, and even established believers. It contains a systemic approach to understand the "why" of what we believe and then helps one to establish and deepen a personal relationship with God. The book is not intended to tell someone what to believe, but rather to give the logical reasons related to belief topics and allow a person to discover the truth of the belief for themselves. However, without a vibrant relationship with God, all the understanding of God's principles and truths are academic. A mature disciple is the person whose best friend is God and who helps those around him or her to know God's love and create their own relationship with God. About the AuthorBruce C. Steffens is an ordained lay minister. He is also a retired professional engineer with an analytical mind. He spent twelve years as a US Coast Guard rescue pilot and aircraft maintenance officer. He went through the US Naval Aviation training in Pensacola, Florida, and flew helicopters out of Cape May, New Jersey; Kodiak, Alaska; and Traverse City, Michigan. He has flown off of Coast Guard cutters, landed on many of the Aleutian Islands, and scared himself in snow squalls in the Bering Sea. Bruce graduated from Purdue University with a Master of Science in aerospace structures. His thirty-five year civilian employment was with large aerospace related companies, analyzing the mechanical design of aircraft parts and sensor systems. He taught Mechanical Engineering analysis courses to many young engineers over many years. Bruce's lifetime hobby has been working with boys, first in Boy Scouts and for the last thirty years with Royal Rangers, a denominational boy's group. He has enjoyed nature study, camping, hiking, and related outdoor activities, mainly leading boy's events.

Talewinds combines author James B. McConville's love of aviation history and technology with his real-life interactions with a diverse group of fliers, many of whom he met while working as an engineer or while pursuing his passion for airplanes. • von Ph. D. Mack E. Crayton III
    31,00 €

As both a Christian and a scientist, two entities that many consider to be opposite of one another, Mack E. Crayton III, Ph.D. explores the often-overlooked convergence between the science of the mind and the truths of the spirit. Inspired by his work in Genetics research, Dr. Crayton wrote Brain, Mind, Soul, and Spirit for three powerful reasons. He wants to prove that Biological science and Biblical Scriptures support each other much more than they contradict each other. He wants to provide a straightforward science reference book for the clergy that can be used to prepare sermons and lessons. Finally, he wants to pair Biblical Scripture with scientific data to ask whether modern and alternative interpretations of Scripture are warranted. Many historical interpretations of Biblical Scripture have left people feeling marginalized when it comes to matters of the brain and mind as they relate to mental illness; determining when human life begins or ends; understanding our spirituality and sexualities; and the inherent powers of the human mind. This religious marginalization has caused millions of people to live unfulfilled lives, life without love, and have driven others to suicide or acts of terrorism. Complete with discussion questions at the end of each chapter, Brain, Mind, Soul, and Spirit invites you to a greater knowledge of God's creation, a knowledge which will decrease fear and foster increased inclusiveness and love. About the AuthorMack E. Crayton III, Ph.D. is the Founder and CEO of Crayton's Services LLC, which provides educational and graphic design services. He has been a Christian since the age of eight and was reared in an African-American Southern Baptist Church. Currently, he serves as the lead Church Administrator of a non-denominational ministry in the City of New Orleans. Dr. Crayton's undergraduate and graduate studies were in Biological Science. He earned his doctorate degree in Genetics from the University of Connecticut, Storrs in 2003. He has twenty-five years of teaching experience on the college level and is a former Assistant Professor in Genetics and Molecular Biology at Xavier University of Louisiana. As a research scientist, he has peer review publications in professional science journals and research training from Cold Spring Harbor Laboratories in Long Island, New York.
