  • von Edward E. Williams

As much words of wisdom as poetry, Grandy's Poems provides thoughts and appreciations to loved ones. Edward E. Williams is the only boy from a family of eight drafted into the Vietnam War. While he served in Vietnam, First Lt. Williams wrote his first poem "Christmas, Oh Christmas" from a bunker for his young wife and year old daughter. Since then, Williams has crafted and shared a poem for every occasion-Valentine's Day, birthday, anniversary and more. Meticulously organized, the collection provides quick reference to the poem, or group of poems needed. The heartfelt words of Grandy's Poems draw from loving family experiences. The collection allows fleeting moments with a significant other, or memory of a vivid Hawaiian sunset to last in perpetuity. The poems add new flavors and nuances to Edward E. Williams' experiences, allowing his family and readers to savor moments throughout these pages.

It is said that two spaceships going away from each other at very high speeds are able to see light from the other travelling at the proper speed of light because space contracts and time slows down. What would happen if these two spacecrafts passed each other? Would space suddenly invert and time change speed? How would a spaceship travelling between two light sources, such as stars, see light from both going the right speed at the same time? If, on the other hand, light travels at a broad range of speeds and we can detect only that which is going the right speed for us, then where is all the other light hiding? An electron in a cyclotron that is accelerated toward a target at close to the speed of light gains mass. If the target were racing away at a near equal speed, would that extra mass turn out to not be there? This book suggests an alternate theory to special relativity and a few experiments to prove it - or help us to learn something new.

  • von Bernard Shapiro
    21,00 €

Bernard has accumulated these quotes, sayings, and caveats, over the years; and he truly believes that if you live by them, you will be a good person and will end up "doing the right thing" every time!!! Although the collection encompasses numerous subjects, there is a common theme woven throughout the book: "be a good and righteous person." The world is devoid of people who try to do the right thing every time!!! There is nothing unique or magical about this collection of quotes, sayings, and caveats, yet you will find few people that adhere to all of these good ideas every time!!! Bernard is sure there are hundreds more one or two sentence caveats that contain the wisdom that make for a truly humane person. Why not collect them and add them to your list of "doing the right thing" every time!!!!About the Author Bernard Shapiro graduated from Clark University in 1957, majoring in government and international relations. After a brief stint at Columbia University Law School, he followed in his father's footsteps and entered the world of fashion jewelry, forming his own company, Les Bernard Inc. in 1963. Bernard sold the company in 1991 and then spent the following five years traveling the globe as the company's international sales representative. From 1971 to 1996 he and his wife Laura, logged over 100 trips to Europe and Asia. In 1974, Les Bernard was the first American fashion jewelry firm invited to mainland China where Bernard soon established a working relationship with the government-run jewelry division. In 1984 he appeared on Good Morning Hong Kong to introduce the company and it's product line to retail customers through out the Pacific Rim. He currently resides in an ocean front condominium in Long Beach, New York.
