When friends start talking about their most recent trip to Mexico, popular destinations like Cabo San Lucas, Mexico City , Guadalajara , Cancun, Puerto Vallarta, Cozumel, Tulum came to mind as Mexico's 'most popular destinations.One evening, while having dinner with friends that travel extensively, they excitedly told us about a trip they had just taken to San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. They raved about the culture, the architecture, the arts, the joyous atmosphere, and the food.My wife surprised me when she said that this city has been on her ''Bucket List'' for many years. I was surprised since this was the first time I heard this wish, nor did I even know where San Miguel was. A few days later, I was talking with a my sister, who lives in NY City, I recounted the events of the dinner with our friends, and was surprised again when she said that San Miguel was on her ''Bucket List'' too.This inspired me to find out more about San Miguel. We got excited about this destination and scheduled a trip to this city. The four of us, my wife, my sister and her husband. were in for a fantastic vacation in central Mexico, in a city at about 6000 ft elevation and known as an artist colony with historic buildings dating back to the 15th century, and before.Now, I can tell you a lot about San Miguel, however, there is so much written and available on the web, I thought I could just share a few of my photos, and observations. After all, some say that a photo is worth a 1000 words or is it 10,000 words. So that we could enjoy the most of this trip, we recruited a local guide. Bernardo was a fantastic help showing us around and getting us into several of the main attractions in this city. Bernardo, an artist at heart, started creating papier mâché figures, working at la Aurora, with a fellow artist. Being fluent in several languages, he gained a reputation assisting ex-pats assimilate into the culture of this town. We found Bernardo to be a valuable asset.

Artists and Critics have it backwards. Actually Art imitates Life. This debate has been ongoing for decades. The examples in the following pages will take a whimsical approach to the inspirations of works of art and try to recreate the feelings that the artist must have thought as he created his piece.This debate has a long history. In 1889, Oscar Wilde stated "Life imitates Art far more than Art imitates Life." More recently, Michelle Gaugy, art gallery owner and art critic has argued the same.I don't believe it does. Today, lets take a look at the concepts of art in general in a whole new light, and with a playful touch to the creativity of others. Art can be viewed in many ways. It has the power to inspire people to think, feel and act. It can express social issues, cultural values, and lead to changes in society. It can display human emotions in a creative manner. This relationship between art and life is interdependent and dynamic. I will not attempt any scholarly treatise on the works of art that art shown, but will define a more offbeat observation. "Art Imitating Life Imitating Art" is a dynamic and continual experience that is photographically portrayed in this work.However, if I start looking at some abstract art today, I get thoughts like, maybe the artist had a piece of bad pizza and a too much wine the night before he started.

It was the mid-1990's, and Ronald Regan had just deregulated the electric industry. I was bored. With deregulation, TVA, (Tennessee Valley Authority), which had once monopolized the generation and distribution of electricity, suddenly founditself on an alien playing field, rife with looming competition and in need of a real marketing manager, no, an entire marketing department. Now they had to woo their 160+ power distributors and directly-served industrial customers in a seven state area, or lose their business. In dire need of a marketing manager, they hired me.One early campaign idea I came up with was "You need it, We got it," and my second brainstorm, "Where else can you go?" was catchy and to the point, but fell on deaf ears. Obviously, there was no longer any room for silly campaigns. I created "Eddie Current, the Ambassador of POWER," who was a big success, and set off to sell, sell, sell on their clearly stated mission.But in my during windshield time covering the vast TVA territory, my mind wandered as it is often prone to do. This is how the "What is Electricity" story came to be.
