Now seeing as how I know you never left that bed for a single minute since we put you there three days ago, this poor old country boy has to stop and ask himself, 'Do you possibly have a twin?'" The senior officer raised an eyebrow at Devon's expression of shocked surprise. "Son, you just might want to ask yourself about that top secret stuff one more time. Because personally, I disagree with your answer." He stepped into the hall to let Devon rethink what it had meant to be part of the Carmichael Experiment.

I wrote Elsie's Anxious during the middle of the night when I could not sleep because of my anxiety. My boyfriend adopted a hedgehog and gave the hedgehog to me for Christmas because I have wanted one since I met him because he is really into exotic animals that are not necessarily found in the US. If you asked me years ago if I ever thought I would have a hedgehog to take care of, I would have laughed and said no way! I named my hedgehog Elsie because I really like the way it sounds. I think it is very cute! The title of my book is Elsie's Anxious because Elsie is anxious just like me. She gets really nervous and scared when there is no reason to be those things. She is just like me! Hedgehogs have quills, and when their quills go up, it means they are anxious in some way. I feel that a hedgehog is a perfect animal to represent anxiety in a children's book.

When slaves were set free, forty acres and a mule were promised to the slaves on the plantation. The "40 acres" was the land on the plantation, while "the mule" was the physical body that did the work. Back when Black men were slaves on forty acres of land, you could grow cotton, beans, corn, and wheat. Today, however, on forty acers of land, one could build a billion-dollar football stadium or basketball arena. The physical body code word, (the mule) represent eighty percent African American football and basketball players currently playing today. But remember, every time you catch yourself doing something honest, thank God for it; give him the glory, and he will keep giving you the power to keep practicing, and that I can promise you.
