Working in education has it's highs and lows, it's enjoyable moments and it's challenges and memories that will stay with me forever.This is a tell all of my experiences working as a Teaching Assistant in Primary Schools and Nurseries. Some stories are almost unbelievable. I would struggle to believe them myself if I hadn't been there in person.Some of today's children can be extremely difficult to work with especially when there is little or no support from staff and Head Teachers in schools.Over the time period of working as a TA I have been to countless schools and nurseries. I haven't had a story to tell about all of them, but those I have are the ones that have stayed with me, for reasons you will understand upon reading.Please don't judge me or think I'm being too harsh. I'm just saying it as it is and feel it's time someone spoke out.

A 140th birthday celebration offers an opportunity to reflect on the life and history of a church.This short history adds to a much earlier one. Its starting point is the founding of St Saviour's in the 1880's, an age of revival in which extensive building of churches took place, in an area of London rapidly increasing in population and housing developments.Through themes, it tells a story of how the many groups of people who, over the decades have formed the church, have met the challenges and opportunities offered by a continually changing east end society to pursue a key mission of demonstrating the transforming love of Jesus Christ.The story describes how the church has survived war, demolition, potential closure, a pandemic, to remain the strong church it is today. Descriptions of key events and activities underline how the church has sought to respond to, and interact with, its local community which has seen substantial social change in terms of increasing multiculturalism, changing family dynamics, developments in the role of women, increased social mobility, and multiple social issues.Sources used in telling the story are mainly the records of parish meetings, official church documents, and images old and new. But, most importantly, church members have offered their own accounts and memories, a source that would otherwise have gone undocumented.

In Austerity England, 1953, England have just won back 'The Ashes' from Australia after 19 years, but this is soon forgotten by the southern villages of Rotting Hill and West Rotting as they prepare for their annual cricket contest.The story follows the lives and loves of the villagers in the days preceding the contest, then the dramas and absurdities of the game itself as it descends into chaos, both during and after the match.In an England still ridden by class mores and dichotomies, the combatants meet on equal status on and off the field - snobs, vicars, barmaids, debs, trade union agitators, schoolmasters, dysfunctional artists and artisans, black-marketeers, minor aristocrats, bigots and traditionalists.There is a one-legged ex-naval commander, who still insists on captaining his team and opening the batting, whilst his alcoholic wife is having a steamy affair with the dashing ex-war hero vice-captain; an amorous vicar and warm-hearted barmaid. At the scorers' table, two women bitch at each other throughout the day, whilst an errant dog has a major influence on the outcome of the game.Just a jolly romp through the countryside of old England - the village cricket match.

Grandma Gee lives life to the full. She's a sweet smiley little lady with a lovely Indian accent, red glasses and orange hair. She loves the game of bowls and has been playing for ten years. Grandma Gee is not the best player at the bowls club, and at the beginning, the other players would ridicule her for being so bad. She stayed positive and kept practising every day to get better. The Big Bowling Competition is a prestigious one. It's held every year and the prize is a shiny trophy. Grandma Gee has never won this in nine years of competing. This year, it would mean so much to her, as the competition falls on her seventieth birthday. She promises to do a cartwheel if she picks up the trophy.

"Wayne Goes Wild" tells the story of a wasp who had been famous when he saved hundreds of his pollinating friends being killed by a crop sprayer. He had flown into the cab and attacked the driver making him stop and leave his machine. His fame had not lasted so Wayne goes on the television show "Get Me Out Of Here" to remind everyone of his famous heroics. Things do not go very well for Wayne and he starts behaving very badly and gets into a lot of trouble. He eventually learns that there are more important things than being a famous celebrity.

This is an equal opportunities book - it doesn't matter whether you're male or female, you can still read it - but as the father of a young curious girl - when I was writing this book, I was thinking mostly of girls and young woman., because it's girls and young woman who have the greatest need of the information in these pages. We live today in a world of immense opportunity. There are probably more opportunities for more people today that there have ever been in the past. Whatever goal you have, you can get there. You can become the very best version of YOU it's possible to dream of. If you go about it the right way. And if you believe. Because that's what this book has to tell you. You can get anything you want, be anyone you want, and overcome any obstacle you want. But only if you believe you can. This book is here to tell you, and to reinforce those beliefs until they are absolutely and unshakably part of you.
