A contemporary tale of love and tragedy set against the backdrop of Argyll's dramatic forest scenery, much of the story takes place in and around Ardcairn Estate owned by an imperious American heiress Miss Lacelaw. Weaving like a constant thread throughout the story is an old Douglas Fir - the 'Family Tree' - that unites the characters in life, love, death and new life.Neil, the self-made son of a forest worker, is locked into a self-destructive relationship with Morag, a local lass. One wild night Neil's collie dog discovers Sophie - a pre-University student on an expedition - lying unconscious by the Douglas Fir. Neil saves her life but through the interference of Miss Lacelaw, they lose touch with one another.Later, when Neil finds a ring that Sophie lost at the Family Tree, he traces it back to Dorothy, Sophie's aristocratic grandmother. Dorothy helps Neil find Sophie, who is studying at St Andrews, but the two of them are fated not to meet properly. One evening they find themselves unexpectedly reunited at a ceilidh in Oban. During the reeling Sophie loses her ring again but Neil retrieves it and slips it onto her finger. Seeing Neil's unmistakable love for Sophie, Morag makes a dramatic exit in a drunken rage.Romance blossoms between Neil and Sophie and they spend an idyllic summer at a cottage on Ardcairn belonging to Ann, Neil's psychic godmother who is Miss Lacelaw's housekeeper. After some memorable adventures Neil and Sophie marry, with a ceremony held at The Family Tree.Pregnant by now, on the night that a massive storm hits Argyll, Sophie's waters break prematurely. Rushing back from Edinburgh to be by her side, Neil is tragically killed in a motorbike accident at the same time that Dorothy dies watching a rugby match. When Sophie regains consciousness she discovers that she has lost the two people she most loved in the world... and gained a daughter. The novel opens and closes with the arrival at Ardcairn of a married couple - David and Eleanor - who are buying the Estate from Miss Lacelaw. This sets the scene for the arrival of Ann, who realises that there is an uncanny connection between Eleanor and Sophie. Although Eleanor is in truth Sophie's daughter, Sophie had kept this fact secret all her life. It is now left to Ann to tell Eleanor the story of her connection to Sophie, Ardcairn and The Family Tree. Following a momentous evening of revelation and a night of passion the new owners of Ardcairn pay homage to that survivor of the great storm The Family Tree, that now belongs to them. Is this an act of closure, or perhaps a new beginning? Might Eleanor even now be pregnant, and will The Family Tree see a connection to a third generation?

Working in education has it's highs and lows, it's enjoyable moments and it's challenges and memories that will stay with me forever.This is a tell all of my experiences working as a Teaching Assistant in Primary Schools and Nurseries. I would struggle to believe them myself if I hadn't been there in person.Some of today's children can be extremely difficult to work with especially when there is little or no support from staff and Head Teachers in schools.Over the time period of working as a TA I have been to countless schools and nurseries. I haven't had a story to tell about all of them, but those I have are the ones that have stayed with me, for reasons you will understand upon reading.Please don't judge me or think I'm being too harsh. I'm just saying it as it is and feel it's time someone spoke out.

Descriptions of key events and activities underline how the church has sought to respond to, and interact with, its local community which has seen substantial social change in terms of increasing multiculturalism, changing family dynamics, developments in the role of women, increased social mobility, and multiple social issues.Sources used in telling the story are mainly the records of parish meetings, official church documents, and images old and new. But, most importantly, church members have offered their own accounts and memories, a source that would otherwise have gone undocumented.

Grandma Gee lives life to the full. She's a sweet smiley little lady with a lovely Indian accent, red glasses and orange hair. She loves the game of bowls and has been playing for ten years. Grandma Gee is not the best player at the bowls club, and at the beginning, the other players would ridicule her for being so bad. She stayed positive and kept practising every day to get better. The Big Bowling Competition is a prestigious one. It's held every year and the prize is a shiny trophy. Grandma Gee has never won this in nine years of competing. This year, it would mean so much to her, as the competition falls on her seventieth birthday. She promises to do a cartwheel if she picks up the trophy.

"Wayne Goes Wild" tells the story of a wasp who had been famous when he saved hundreds of his pollinating friends being killed by a crop sprayer. He had flown into the cab and attacked the driver making him stop and leave his machine. His fame had not lasted so Wayne goes on the television show "Get Me Out Of Here" to remind everyone of his famous heroics. Things do not go very well for Wayne and he starts behaving very badly and gets into a lot of trouble. He eventually learns that there are more important things than being a famous celebrity.

This is an equal opportunities book - it doesn't matter whether you're male or female, you can still read it - but as the father of a young curious girl - when I was writing this book, I was thinking mostly of girls and young woman., because it's girls and young woman who have the greatest need of the information in these pages. We live today in a world of immense opportunity. There are probably more opportunities for more people today that there have ever been in the past. Whatever goal you have, you can get there. You can become the very best version of YOU it's possible to dream of. If you go about it the right way. And if you believe. Because that's what this book has to tell you. You can get anything you want, be anyone you want, and overcome any obstacle you want. But only if you believe you can. This book is here to tell you, and to reinforce those beliefs until they are absolutely and unshakably part of you.
