When Aby Warburg left for the United States in September 1895, it was not foreseeable that his search for the symbolic foundations of art would become one of the most fascinating events in the history of his field. Warburg's American journey lasted only months, and his stay in the Pueblo communities only a few weeks, but in 1923 he presented his findings in the groundbreaking lecture on the '"Snake Ritual". As co-editor of the collected works of Carl Einstein and Aby Warburg, he has produced numerous publications on the subject.

"I have kept a diary since my school days," HP Zimmer remarked in 1984. This is also true of the time of the artists' group SPUR he co-founded in 1957. He wrote to "seek my own point of view in the midst of often turbulent events and sometimes controversial debates." Anyone who has ever laughed out loud at Max Kersting's brilliant combinations of word and image has immediately become a fan of his unique and original art. He lends new meaning to found photographs with his added speech and thought bubbles. The newly created word-image relationships are, in their sensitive way, as humorous as they are inimitably profound. The Nature of Being is the sixth volume from the series of books about the Helsinki School. It concentrates on bringing together the various approaches used by the School's representatives to conceptualize nature visibly. Over the course of six decades, a stylistically diverse and complex oeuvre was created that attests to Richter's status as the most important living artist. The scholarly catalogue raisonné, comprising six volumes, offers extensive technical information on all works, details of the artist's handwritten notes as well as provenance, references to literature, and exhibition credits, in addition to a large number of full-page color illustrations of the works. Sanna Kannisto's métier is nature photography. Like her role models, she considers herself both a scientist and an artist. He is known for his comprehensive series of works, Homage to the Square (1950-76) and taught at the Bauhaus, Black Mountain College, and at Yale University. HEINZ LIESBROCK (*1953) is Director of the Josef Albers Museum Quadrat in Bottrop. He has written extensively on Albers and his impact on art, as well as on Edward Hopper, Walker Evans, and others.
You can find him on the stage or in front of a film camera, in the director's chair or at the mixing board-Lars Eidinger has many faces, and not just as an actor. His performances testify to a sheer, inexhaustible energy that makes every appearance a tour de force that infects and electrifies the audience in an almost magical way. No less can be expected from his photographic works, which are gathered together here for the first time in a publication. As diverse as the subjects of the pictures are, they still allow us to recognize Eidinger's signature: elements of film and theater unite to form a unique rhythm that transforms the everyday into a paradoxical world essence.
