When 17-year-old June wakes up alone and confused on a hill after-well, she can't really remember-she quickly finds herself unable to leave. While exploring the boundaries of her new reality, people from her life arrive, reintroducing June to memories she's forgotten. When it becomes clear that something bad has happened, June must come to terms with everything left unsaid before time runs out while making a monumental decision: stay or go.In Cree's debut novel, a story of loss, grief, love, and everything in between is woven together with threads of Métis Cree storytelling and teachings to craft a narrative celebrating life. With this Indigenous story from Indigenous hands, Cree aims to introduce a new look into death and the beyond through characters you can't help but count as new friends.

75th Ranger Regiment Trauma Management Team (Tactical) Ranger Medic Handbook Historically in warfare, the majority of all combat deaths have occurred prior to a casualty ever receiving advanced trauma management. The execution of the Ranger mission profile in the Global War on Terrorism and our legacy tasks undoubtedly will increase the number of lethal wounds. Ranger leaders can significantly reduce the number of Rangers who die of wounds sustained in combat by simply targeting optimal medical capability in close proximity to the point of wounding. Survivability of the traumatized Ranger who sustains a wound in combat is in the hands of the first responding Ranger who puts a pressure dressing or tourniquet and controls the bleeding of his fallen comrade. Directing casualty response management and evacuation is a Ranger leader task; ensuring technical medical competence is a Ranger Medic task. A solid foundation has been built for Ranger leaders and medics to be successful in managing casualties in a combat environment. An integrated team response from non-medical personnel and medical providers must be in place to care for the wounded Ranger. The Ranger First Responder, Squad EMT, Ranger Medic Advanced Tactical Practitioner, and Ranger leaders, in essence all Rangers must unite to provide medical care collectively, as a team, without sacrificing the flow and violence of the battle at hand. An integrated team approach to casualty response and care will directly translate to the reduction of the died of wounds rate of combat casualties and minimize the turbulence associated with these events in times of crisis. The true success of the Ranger Medical Team will be defined by its ability to complete the mission and greatly reduce preventable combat death. Rangers value honor and reputation more than their lives, and as such will attempt to lay down their own lives in defense of their comrades. The Ranger Medic will do no less. I will never leave a fallen comrade...

Regular physical activity is one of the most important things people can do to improve their health. Moving more and sitting less have tremendous benefits for everyone, regardless of age, sex, race, ethnicity, or current fitness level. Individuals with a chronic disease or a disability benefit from regular physical activity, as do women who are pregnant. The scientific evidence continues to build-physical activity is linked with even more positive health outcomes than we previously thought. And, even better, benefits can start accumulating with small amounts of, and immediately after doing, physical activity. Today, about half of all American adults-117 million people-have one or more preventable chronic diseases. Seven of the ten most common chronic diseases are favorably influenced by regular physical activity. Yet nearly 80 percent of adults are not meeting the key guidelines for both aerobic and muscle-strengthening activity, while only about half meet the key guidelines for aerobic physical activity. This lack of physical activity is linked to approximately $117 billion in annual health care costs and about 10 percent of premature mortality. This new edition of the Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans has the potential to change that situation. It is grounded in the most current scientific evidence and informed by the recommendations of the 2018 Physical Activity Guidelines Advisory Committee. This Federal advisory committee, which was composed of prestigious researchers in the fields of physical activity, health, and medicine, conducted a multifaceted, robust analysis of the available scientific literature. Their work culminated in the 2018 Physical Activity Guidelines Advisory Committee Scientific Report, which provided recommendations to the Federal Government on physical activity, sedentary behavior, and health. Informed by this Scientific Report and by public and Federal agency comments, the new edition provides guidance on the amounts and types of physical activity necessary to maintain or improve overall health and reduce the risk of, or even prevent, chronic disease.

This first Surgeon General's report on physical activity is being released on the eve of the Centennial Olympic Games-the premiere event showcasing the world's greatest athletes. It is fitting that the games are being held in Atlanta, Georgia, home of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the lead federal agency in preparing this report. The games' 100-year celebration also coincides with the CDC's landmark 50th year and with the 40th anniversary of the President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports (PCPFS), the CDC's partner in developing thisreport. Because physical activity is a widely achievable means to a healthier life, this report directly supports the CDC's mission-to promote health and quality of life by preventing and controlling disease, injury, and disability. Also clear is the link to the PCPFS; originally established as part of a national campaign to help shape upAmerica's younger generation, the Council continues today to promote physical activity, fitness, and sports for Americans of all ages.

My Papa Has Colon Cancer is a non-fiction children's book. This book is written from the eyes of a granddaughter who lives with her grandpa while he is fighting colorectal cancer. Words like cancer, chemotherapy, port, surgery, hospital, and colostomy bag can be confusing for a child to understand. Witnessing it all first hand, can be very scary for a young child, just as it can be for an adult. Arabella and her Papa found funny ways to make all of these words and situations seem almost "normal" in our house. My hope, is that sharing our positive journey in colorectal cancer, helps children to be less frightened about cancer, and instead, enjoy the time that they have with their loved ones. I hope this true story gives some ideas of how to make it memorable and fun!
