While growing up in a large South Carolina sharecropper family, Sallie Peak learned the importance of using her voice to speak up, working hard, and advocating for her family and community. But little did she know that those valuable traits would eventually gift her with the fortitude and vision to create a new path of opportunity for other black girls and women. The following plays, skits, poems, and mimes are fictional works that I created to fill the void in current multicultural events for my students. Many of these works were presented at my school district and received many favorable reviews. I felt the need to share the fruits of my labor so that other teachers, parents, and children could learn about their history and experience the sentiments of their people as well as new cultures in a new forum.

As a very sensitive girl, moments in my life which touched me deeply were sometimes difficult for me to understand, and even more difficult to express. To cope with the feelings, I found consolation and healing in printing my deepest feelings on paper, which helped me make sense of the confusion or heartache, or would allow me to rejoice in the celebration and good times. My "coping" technique began in high school and helped me through many years of friendships, loves, marriage, divorce, and significant life events. Putting my feelings on paper often allowed me to let go of the pain or heartache, or would lift me up and truly give me strength to carry on. My poetry is what helped me move through all of my early life's experiences.

In 1989, a missing woman is found dead. Investigators go to her apartment and find nothing. They are left without a clue. Twenty years later, children discover the body of a murder victim. Somehow, these deaths are related, and detectives soon get a break with the help of an old cold case. In the midst of all this horror, a wandering husband is brought back to his wife. A traffic accident brings unexpected love to a man in need of a change. However, the killer is still out there and soon has an encounter with the happy new couple. A major historic event is on the way, and a killer needs to be caught. Will the victims ever be laid to rest, or will a murderer continue to walk free?
