In dieser Arbeit wird eine Farbmesstechnik auf Basis von Sensorfusion für die vollständige Charakterisierung von LED-Beleuchtungssystemen vorgestellt. Hierbei werden Informationen von indirekten, hochaufgelösten Filterkameramessungen mit spektralen und photometrischen Punktmessungen kombiniert. Ergebnis der entwickelten Methodik sind sowohl winkelaufgelöste Farbkoordinaten als auch spektrale Informationen. In this work we introduce a colour measurement method based on sensor fusion for the complete characterization of LED lighting systems. The measurement information from indirect, high-resolution filter camera measurements is combined with spectral and photometric point measurements. The results of the developed measurement method are angle-resolved chromaticity coordinates as well as angle-resolved spectral information.

Die Festschrift zur Verabschiedung von Prof. Bernhard Heck enthält 41 Beiträge aus dem Freundeskreis, der Kollegenschaft sowie von ehemaligen Promovierenden. Der Schwerpunkt der Arbeiten liegt auf den Gebieten der Physikalischen und Satellitengeodäsie sowie der Geodynamik und spiegelt das vielfältige Wirken von Bernhard Heck wider. Abgerundet wird die Schrift durch Beiträge zur Ausbildung am Geodätischen Institut des KIT und zur Stellung der Geodäsie im gesellschaftlichen Kontext. The commemorative publication in honor of Prof. Bernhard Heck contains 41 contributions written by friends, colleagues, co-workers and former PhD-students. The focus of the scientific articles is on Physical and Satellite Geodesy as well as on geodynamics. It reflects the wide range of academic and scientific research activities of Bernhard Heck. The volume is completed by articles about education at the Geodetic Institute of KIT as well as the importance of Geodesy for society.

This work proposes a feature-based probabilistic data association and tracking approach (FBPDATA) for multi-object tracking. FBPDATA is based on re-identification and tracking of individual video image points (feature points) and aims at solving the problems of partial, split (fragmented), bloated or missed detections, which are due to sensory or algorithmic restrictions, limited field of view of the sensors, as well as occlusion situations.

This work presents a comprehensive investigation of the influence of geometry-dependent factors on performance metrics of superconducting single-photon detectors. With fundamental knowledge, main investigations are focused to extend the spectral bandwidth and to enhance the detection efficiency, especially in infrared range. The developed technology of single-spiral detectors and unconventional electron-beam lithography allows to improve the performance of superconducting detectors.

Der sogenannte Hochvoltspinell (LiNi0,5Mn1,5O4) stellt aufgrund seiner hohen Arbeitsspannung ein vielversprechendes Kathodenmaterial dar. In dieser Arbeit wird die Kinetik des Kapazitätsverlustes während der Zyklierung sowie der Einfluss von Beschichtungen auf diesen untersucht. Weiterhin wird das elektrochemische Verhalten bei dem Einbau von mehr als einem Lithium pro Formeleinheit für unterschiedlich dotierte Spinelle diskutiert. Due to its high operating voltage the so-called high voltage spinel (LiNi0,5Mn1,5O4) is a promising cathode material. In this work the kinetics of the capacity loss during cycling and its change due to different coatings are analyzed. In a second part the electrochemical behavior for the insertion of a second lithium per formula unit is discussed for different doped spinel materials.

Die Infrarotdeflektometrie macht sich zu nutze, dass an Oberflächen, welche im sichtbaren Spektrum diffus erscheinen, im thermischen Infrarotspektrum eine deutliche Reflexion erzielt wird und so eine deflektometrische Inspektion ermöglicht wird. Diese Arbeit befasst sich mit dem Problem der Erzeugung der notwendigen thermischen Codemuster. Zur Auswertung werden entweder etablierte Verfahren an die Mustererzeugung angepasst oder neue Verfahren präsentiert. Thermal infrared deflectometry is based on the effect that rough surfaces, although having a dull appearance in the visual spectrum, exhibit a specular reflection in the thermal infrared spectrum and therefore enabling surface inspection with the method of deflectometry. This work covers the problems of generating the required thermal code patterns. The evaluation either adapts established methods from deflectometry, or new methods are introduced.

This book summarizes presentations delivered at the 2017 annual joint workshop of the Fraunhofer Institute of Optronics, System Technologies and Image Exploitation (IOSB) and the Vision and Fusion Laboratory (IES) of the Institute for Anthropomatics, Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). At this meeting, doctoral students from both institutions reported on the status of their research and discussed topics ranging from computer vision to network security and machine learning.

Hochauflösende automobile Lichtsysteme bilden die Grundlage für neuartige Lichtfunktionen, die den Fahrzeugführer in seiner visuellen Wahrnehmung, der Spurführung und Orientierung bei Nacht unterstützen. Hierzu wird in der vorliegenden Arbeit, auf Grundlage von laserbasierten Weißlichtquellen, ein hochauflösendes Pixellichtsystem entworfen und substantiell analysiert. Zum effizienten Betrieb des Systems wird zusätzlich ein Verfahren ausgearbeitet. This work describes how human vision can be influenced at night time. In the first part, front lighting systems, that are already available on the market, are described and analyzed in terms of their positive effects on traffic safety. Furthermore this work is discussing, how traffic safety at night time has been increased since the introduction of high resolution headlamps.

Collision avoidance systems like emergency braking assist systems have demonstrated their effectiveness in increasing the safety of vehicle passengers in various studies. To further increase the effectiveness of collision avoidance systems, the exploitation of the lateral free space by evasive maneuvers is being investigated in this book. This work focuses on methods for integrated trajectory planning and vehicle dynamics control in collision avoidance scenarios by combined evasion and braking.

The goal of this work is the development of a novel computational formalization of whole-body affordances which is suitable for the multimodal detection and validation of interaction possibilities in unknown environments. The hierarchical framework allows the consistent fusion of affordance-related evidence and can be utilized for realizing shared autonomous control of humanoid robots. The affordance formalization is evaluated in several experiments in simulation and on real humanoid robots.

Der Titel spielt auf die niederländische Familiengeschichte von Geert Mak an: ,Das Jahrhundert meines Vaters¿, eine exemplarische Gesellschafts- und Mentalitätsgeschichte der Niederlande. Daran und an Walter Kempowskis ,Deutscher Chronik¿ orientiert sich die ganz andere Familienbiographie von Rudi Kunze (1925¿2001) und Gerda Kunze (1926¿2010), die zugleich ein hollywoodfähiger Filmplot und eine charakteristische deutsche Geschichte im halben Jahrhundert des Weltbürgerkriegs war.

The present work deals with the characterisation and multi-scale modelling of the large-strain response of ternary polymer blends. In a homogenised constitutive modelling approach, particularly the deformation behaviour featuring plastic dilatancy is investigated. Concerning the micromechanical modelling, constitutive models are proposed for the blends' individual phases and compared regarding their capabilities to capture the composition-dependent fracture toughness in unit cell models.

Reservoir quality in fluvial siliciclastic rocks is variable. Permeability is influenced by micron-scale grain coatings or bedding style on the m-/km-scale. Outcrops allow the analysis of depositional environments and diagenesis, thus an investigation of reservoir quality controls. A process-oriented approach is used to understand variability in a meander deposit, compaction and cementation behavior of lithofacies types during burial and the discrepancy between porosity and permeability values.

DDie Energiewende und der Klimaschutz verursachen in der deutschen Energieversorgung umfangreiche Veränderungen. In diesem Zusammenhang entsteht zusätzlich ein Interesse an der stofflichen Nutzung von Kohlenstoffdioxid. Vorgestellt werden die möglichen Beiträge zum Klimaschutz durch eine stoffliche Nutzung von Kohlenstoffdioxid für verschiedene Produkte im technischen Maßstab. Die Kultivierung von Algen wird dabei berücksichtigt. Energy transition and climate protection cause extensive changes in the German energy supply. In this context, there is an additional interest in the material utilization of carbon dioxide. The possible contributions to climate protection through material use of carbon dioxide for various products on an industrial scale are presented. Although, cultivation of algae is considered.

Diese Arbeit analysiert den terminlichen Effekt, der durch den Einsatz der Taktplanung im Bauablauf aus Perspektive des Bauherrn auftritt. Es werden Mechanismen zur Manipulation der Projektdurchlaufzeit erarbeitet und weiterführende Wirkungen beschrieben. Für einen sinnvollen Umgang mit den zeitreduzierenden Effekten werden abschließend drei Parameter abgeleitet. Die Erkenntnisse der Arbeit werden in einer Handlungsempfehlung für Bauherren zum Einsatz der Taktplanung zusammengefasst. This work analyses the time effect that occurs due to the use of takt planning and takt control during the construction process from the perspective of the client. At first the historical courses of takt planning and takt control (TPTC) are aggregated. For an appropriate handling of the time reducing mechanisms three parameters are derived. The findings of this work are summarized into a recommendation for the use of takt planning for owners.

This work focuses on two topics. The first is the investigation of producing filaments on copper-stabilized coated conductors, with striations made after or before electroplating the tape. The second topic is the applicability of the striations for reducing the AC losses of cables, in particular the CORC® and RACC cables, which are made with high-temperature superconductor (HTS) striated tapes.

Die Erzählweisen vieler, junger Autoren der 1990er Jahre operieren gleichzeitig unter und mit den Bedingungen der ,neuen Medien' und machen so beobachtbar, wie sich mit ihnen die Kommunikationsweisen verändern. Über das Erzählen wird ein bekannter Gegenstand wiederholt und wiederbelebt. Das Präsentwerden sinnlicher Effekte eines Mediums im anderen untersucht die in den 1990ern entstehende Mediologie. Deshalb wird die für die 1990er signifikante Art des Erzählens als ,mediologisch' bezeichnet. The narrations of many young authors of the 1990s operate under and in the terms of the new media at the same time, so the reader is able to observe how media change forms of communication. With the narration a well-known topic is repeated and reanimated. The presence of sensual effects of one medium in another is analysed by the mediological method, which also develops in the 1990s. So this way of narrating, which is significant for the 1990s, is called mediological narration.

This work provides novel robust and regularized algorithms for parameter estimation with applications in vehicle tractive force prediction and mass estimation. Given a large record of real world data from test runs on public roads, recursive algorithms adjusted the unknown vehicle parameters under a broad variation of statistical assumptions for two linear gray-box models.

Experiments to characterize the effects of moisture content and temperature on the mechanical properties of concrete were conducted. Based on these experiments, a new overall material model capable of predicting the mechanical behaviour of concrete subject to elevated temperatures up to 100 °C was developed. The material model estimates the time, temperature and moisture dependency of the compressive and tensile strength, creep and shrinkage of concrete.

Lean management describes a set of methods combined with a management philosophy which aims at eliminating waste in logistics processes. In production logistics, lean is already widespread and applied successfully. Research has shown that lean also works in a warehousing environment. In transport logistics, lean is still at a low level of maturity in both research and practice. This work contributes to closing this gap by introducing Heijunka leveling to transport logistics.

In dieser Arbeit wird das modellgestützte Kathodendesign für Lithium-Ionen Batterien vorgestellt, welches eine systematische Minimierung der Verluste und Steigerung der Energie- und Leistungsdichte ermöglicht. Durch eine Kombination von Mikrostrukturanalyse mittels FIB/SEM-Tomographie und elektrochemischer Impedanzspektroskopie wird das Kathodenmodell unabhängig von Literaturdaten parametriert und anschließend validiert. The model-aided cathode design for lithium ion batteries is presented, which enables a systematically minimization of loss processes and an increase of power and energy density. The cathode model is parametrized without values from literature by combining microstructure analysis via FIB/SEM tomography and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and finally validated.

A general analytical travel time model for the quadruple command cycle in double deep storage systems with a dual capacity load handling device is formulated and validated by means of a simulation model. Various routing and sequencing strategies are composed. A simulation model is used to compare strategies for differnt AS/RS configurations and settings to assess them in consideration of real-world cases. For selected strategies, analytical formulations are derived.

Das Energiemanagement batterieelektrischer Fahrzeuge ist entscheidend, um das Potential der Batterie bestmöglich auszunutzen. In dieser Arbeit werden daher die Anforderungen an das Energiemanagement herausgearbeitet und mathematisch als Optimierungsproblem beschrieben. Es werden Strategien vorgestellt, wie im Entwicklungsprozess mittels Dynamischer Programmierung und im Fahrbetrieb basierend auf dem Maximumprinzip alle wesentlichen Einflüsse berücksichtigt werden können. The energy management of battery electric vehicle is important for maximum utilisation of the battery. This book elaborates the requirements of the energy management and defines them as mathematical optimization problem. Strategies for the development process based on dynamic programming and for driving operation based on Pontryagin's maximum principle are presented to consider all significant influences.

Das KIT-Zentrum Energie richtet jährlich seine Jahrestagung aus, bei der im regelmäßigen Turnus Promovierende ihre Projekte und aktuellen Ergebnisse präsentieren. Bereits in der Vergangenheit waren Jahrestagungen dem wissenschaftlichen Nachwuchs gewidmet. Zahlreiche Doktorandinnen und Doktoranden stellten ihre Arbeiten in einem Vortrag oder einem Poster vor. Der vorliegende Tagungsband dokumentiert die Beiträge zu den vergangenen Jahrestagungen. Every year the KIT energy center organizes its annual conference as a post-gradual symposium, where Doctoral Students can present their projects and current results. Already in the past, there have been annual conferences, dedicated to the young scientists. Numerous postgraduates presented their works in a presentation or as a poster. These conference proceedings document the contributions to the annual conferences.

This book presents, validates and applies a fast, accurate and general measurement and modeling technique to obtain spectral near field data of LED systems for optical simulations in order to address the steadily increasing requirements of modern high quality LED systems. It requires only a minimum of goniophotometric near field measurements and no time-consuming angularly resolved spectral measurements. The obtained results can be used directly in state-of-the-art ray tracers.
