  • von Joseph Benner
    13,00 €

2010 Reprint of undated edition from the 1930s. In this booklet Benner suggests a spiritual solution to the issue of personal finances. He suggests a spiritual law that if obeyed will enable readers to rise above financial troubles and out of all conditions of lack, limitation, disease and unhappiness. He insists that there is such a law and that anyone can be free from the fear and dominance of money. He assures readers that if the suggestions he outlines in this short book are followed, he can promise that a change will manifest in your consciousness and likewise in your affairs that it will be a turning point in your life, and you will never again return to the old way of thinking and acting. Is it not then worth the effort? Then do not let anything prevent your making a supreme effort, asking God to give you the strength and ability to accomplish what we have shown.

  • von George Burns
    21,00 €

2022 Reprint of the 1955 Edition. Facsimile of the original edition and not reproduced with Optical Recognition Software. Illustrated with Photographs. Burns and Allen, who endeared themselves to American television audiences for decades, were one of the great husband and wife teams in all show business. When people ask George how he could live with such a zany character as Gracie, who puts salt in the pepper-pot and pepper in the, salt shaker, shortens electric cords to save electricity, etc., he replies quite simply "I love her, that's why ! " And in telling the story of their thirty years together, a genuinely funny yet very touching story, George has virtually written a love letter to Gracie. This is a warm, laughing, moving experience for everyone who reads it; the story of an Eastside youngster with show business in his blood who one day found a partner for his act and a mate for life, and thereafter never looked back.

  • von Crane Brinton
    26,00 €

2021 Reprint of the 1938 First Editon. Full facsimile of the original edition and not reproduced with Optical Recognition Software. The Anatomy of Revolution outlines the "uniformities" of four major political revolutions: the English Revolution of the 1640s, the American Revolution, the French Revolution, and the 1917 Russian Revolution. Brinton notes how the revolutions followed a life cycle from the Old Order to a moderate regime to a radical regime, to Thermidorian reaction. The book has been described as a "classic," "famous" and a "watershed in the study of revolution." It has been influential enough to have inspired advice given to US President Jimmy Carter by his National Security Advisor Zbigniew Brzezinski during the Iranian Revolution. Revised editions of Brinton's book were published in 1952 and 1965, and it remains in print. Our edition reprints the classic account first published in 1938 Brinton summarizes the revolutionary process as moving from "financial breakdown, [to] organization of the discontented to remedy this breakdown ... revolutionary demands on the part of these organized discontented, demands which if granted would mean the virtual abdication of those governing, attempted use of force by the government, its failure, and the attainment of power by the revolutionists. These revolutionists have hitherto been acting as an organized and nearly unanimous group, but with the attainment of power it is clear that they are not united. The group which dominates these first stages we call the moderates .... power passes by violent ... methods from Right to Left".Contents: Old regimes -- First stages of revolution -- Types of revolutionists -- Rule of the moderates -- Accession of the extremists -- Reigns of terror and virtue -- Thermidor -- Summary of the work of revolutions.

  • von A. E. Waite
    43,00 €

2019 Reprint of 1960 Edition. Full facsimile of the original edition, not reproduced with Optical Recognition software. Originally published in 1929. The Kabbalah is the occult or secret tradition within Judaism. Waite's comprehensive and annotated guide to this tradition of mysticism is enthusiastic in tone and grounded in scholarship. The author presents and interprets the fundamental ideas within this tradition. He also discusses Kabbalah's foremost interpreters, its impact on Christian scholars, and its reputation as "the secret tradition." Waite's thought-provoking analysis includes a rejection of proposals by earlier occultists that many esoteric practices - alchemy, astrology, and Freemasonry, for instance - are founded on or are integral to Kabbalah. Introduction by Kenneth Rexroth.

  • von Arthur Edward Waite
    67,00 €

2019 Reprint of 1921 Edition. Two Volumes bound into One. Profusely Illustrated. Full facsimile of the original edition, not reproduced with Optical Recognition software. Secret societies like the Masons have fascinated those on the outside since the beginning of time, and here, in this extraordinary 1921 work, the mysteries and riddles of one of the most famous, the Freemasons, are exhaustively detailed. Complete with all the original illustrations, this two-volume work is an essential reference for anyone enthralled by secret societies and the arcane. Waite provides a complete view of the history, literature and myths surrounding Freemasonry, along with explanations of the society's secret rituals and symbolism. Waite also treats the subjects of alchemy, astrology, Kabbalism, ceremonial magic, animal magnetism and more. Arthur Edward Waite (1857-1942), commonly known as A. E. Waite, was an American-born British poet and scholarly mystic who wrote extensively on occult and esoteric matters and was the co-creator of the Rider-Waite Tarot deck. As his biographer R. A. Gilbert described him, "Waite's name has survived because he was the first to attempt a systematic study of the history of western occultism-viewed as a spiritual tradition rather than as aspects of proto-science or as the pathology of religion."

  • von P. G. Wodehouse
    23,00 €

2019 Reprint of 1923 Edition. P. G. Wodehouse was born in England in 1881 and in 1955 became an American citizen. He published more than ninety books and had a successful career writing lyrics and musicals in collaboration with Jerome Kern, Guy Bolton, and Cole Porter, among others. Although the main character in this novel is Psmith, the bulk of the story takes place at Blandings Castle and involves various intrigues within the extended family of Lord Emsworth, the absent-minded elderly Earl. The plot is typical Wodehouse, with Psmith inveigling himself into the idyllic castle, where we find the usual crop of girls to woo, crooks to foil, imposters to unmask, haughty aunts to baffle and valuable necklaces to steal. Among the players is Psmith's good friend Mike, married to Phyllis and in dire need of some financial help; the ever-suspicious Rupert Baxter is on watch as usual. The item which the plot revolves around is the necklace (nearly all Blandings plots revolve around an item which needs to be recovered). This book boasts a plot complicated and farcical even by Wodehouse's standards. We can expect dark conspiracies, missing items, frantic attempts to put those items in the right hands, trouble with flowerpots, rages from Blandings' head gardener Angus McAllister, absent-mindedness from Lord Emsworth and best of all a visit from literary types to the castle and more!

  • von Edward W. Blyden
    16,00 €

2016 Reprint of 1908 Edition. Two parts in one volume. Full facsimile of the original edition, not reproduced with Optical Recognition Software. This work is a collection of Blyden's articles that examines the socioeconomic structure of African society. A native of St. Thomas, West Indies, Blyden (1832-1912) lived most of his life on the African continent. He was an accomplished educator, linguist, writer, and world traveler, who strongly defended the unique character of Africa and its people. In this work Blyden examined the culture of "pure" Africans-- those untouched by European and Asiatic influences. He identified the family as the basic unit in African society and polygamy as the foundation of African families. He described African social systems as cooperative; everyone worked for each other. No one went without work, food, or clothing. Blyden challenged white racial theorists who held Africans were inferior and whose arguments supported their preconceived ideas. He assumed Africans to be "distinct" rather than inferior, and he analyzed African culture within the context of African social experiences. As a writer, Blyden is regarded widely as the "father of Pan-Africanism". His major work, "Christianity, Islam and the Negro Race" (1887), promoted the idea that practicing Islam was more unifying and fulfilling for Africans than Christianity. He argues that the latter was introduced chiefly by European colonizers. He believed it had a demoralizing effect, although he continued to be a Christian. He thought Islam was more authentically African, as it had been brought to sub-Saharan areas by people from North Africa.

  • von Fulton J. Sheen
    17,00 €

2016 Reprint of 1939 Edition. Full facsimile of the original edition, not reproduced with Optical Recognition Software. Fulton Sheen claims that since all seven deadly sins led Christ's enemies to nail Him to the Cross, we can find in the example of His suffering and death sure means to overcome each of those sins, plus the key to understanding - and to nurturing in our own soul - each corresponding virtue. So, for example, in these pages filled with wisdom and hope, Sheen teaches us not only how to conquer our gluttony; he shows us how to satisfy our spiritual hunger. We learn not merely how to overcome pride; we discover what we must do to grow humble. From Christ's holy response to each of the seven deadly sins that led to His Crucifixion, Sheen draws a lesson in how you and I must deal with those same sins, whether we meet them in others or in ourselves.Day after day, Christians struggle to do good, to avoid evil, and to take up with patience and love the crosses that threaten to crush them. For those of us who still know more of sin than sanctity, Fulton Sheen's revelation of the light that vice sheds on virtue affords a way to understand even better, and a means to attain it. If you abide by the holy counsel of these pages, enduring virtue will soon be yours: you will have achieved your own long-sought-after victory over vice.
