  • von Robert Anderson
    17,00 €

2011 Reprint of Ninth Revised Edition. Full facsimile of the original edition, not reproduced with Optical Recognition Software. According to Anderson, God has remained silent now for almost two thousand years. No new prophets have arisen and the voice of God has not orally spoken since He spoke to His Beloved Son. Why? Robert Anderson approaches this problem with his usual methodical and complete investigation and findings. God is not revealing any new truths, because the Scriptures are already complete; and God has said all He intends to say to this present generation. God has closed His revelation to man in the Bible in spite of the claims of those who would have us believe otherwise. Though written many years ago, the arguments and facts revealed here are still timely and much needed. As long as the Lord Jesus delays His return, there will continue to be the rise of false prophets, and there will be the continued need of this book: that we may KNOW that God has already spoken, and that revelation is complete. Includes a table of contents and an index.

  • von G. K. Chesterton
    15,00 €

2011 Reprint of 1908 Edition. Full facsimile of the original edition, not reproduced with Optical Recognition Software. "The Man Who Was Thursday: A Nightmare" is a novel by G. K. Chesterton, first published in 1908. The book is sometimes referred to as a metaphysical thriller. Although it deals with anarchists, the novel is not an exploration or rebuttal of anarchist thought; Chesterton's ad hoc construction of "Philosophical Anarchism" is distinguished from ordinary anarchism and is referred to several times not so much as a rebellion against government but as a rebellion against God. The novel has been described as "one of the hidden hinges of twentieth-century writing, the place where, before our eyes, the nonsense-fantastical tradition of Lewis Carroll and Edward Lear pivots and becomes the nightmare-fantastical tradition of Kafka and Borges.

This is a classic text on the subject.

  • von Eliphas Levi
    32,00 €

2011 Reprint of 1958 London Edition. Full facsimile of the original edition, not reproduced with Optical Recognition Software. This is Levi's first treatise on magic and was translated into English by Arthur Edward Waite as "Transcendental Magic, its Doctrine and Ritual". Its famous opening lines present the single essential theme of Occultism and gives some of the flavor of its atmosphere: "Behind the veil of all the hieratic and mystical allegories of ancient doctrines, behind the darkness and strange ordeals of all initiations, under the seal of all sacred writings, in the ruins of Nineveh or Thebes, on the crumbling stones of old temples and on the blackened visage of the Assyrian or Egyptian sphinx, in the monstrous or marvelous paintings which interpret to the faithful of India the inspired pages of the Vedas, in the cryptic emblems of our old books on alchemy, in the ceremonies practised at reception by all secret societies, there are found indications of a doctrine which is everywhere the same and everywhere carefully concealed. ( From the Introduction)". Lévi's version of magic became a great success, especially after his death. That Spiritualism was popular on both sides of the Atlantic from the 1850s contributed to this success. His magical teachings were free from obvious fanaticisms; he had nothing to sell, and did not pretend to be the initiate of some ancient or fictitious secret society. He incorporated the Tarot cards into his magical system, and as a result the Tarot has been an important part of the paraphernalia of Western magicians. He had a deep impact on the magic of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn and later on the ex-Golden Dawn member Aleister Crowley. He was also the first to declare that a pentagram or five-pointed star with one point down and two points up represents evil, while a pentagram with one point up and two points down represents good. It was largely through the occultists inspired by him that Lévi is remembered as one of the key founders of the twentieth century revival of magic.

  • von Oscar Wilde
    15,00 €

2019 Reprint of 1891 Edition. Dorian Gray is the subject of a full-length portrait in oil by Basil Hallward, an artist impressed and infatuated by Dorian's beauty. Hallward believes that Dorian's beauty is responsible for his new inspiration as a painter. Through Basil, Dorian meets Lord Henry Wotton, and Dorian is soon enthralled by the aristocrat's hedonistic world view: that beauty and sensual fulfilment are the only things worth pursuing in life.Newly understanding that his beauty will fade, Dorian expresses the desire to sell his soul, to ensure that the picture, rather than he, will age and fade. The wish is granted, and Dorian pursues a libertine life of varied amoral experiences while staying young and beautiful; all the while, his portrait ages and records every sin. This work, Wilde's only novel, is a knowing account of a secret life and an analysis of the darker side of late Victorian society. The Picture of Dorian Gray offers a disturbing portrait of an individual coming face to face with the reality of his soul. Shocking in its suggestion of unspeakable sin, this novel was later used as evidence against Wilde when he was tried for indecency in 1895.
