Throughout my interview process for The Southern Massacre, player after player and person after person had specific memories of the 1979 Presbyterian College football team. Bruce Ollis, 1979 PC OG and Co-Captain, told how he had a banner in his high school gym. Bruce, like many other Presbyterian College graduates, was part of PC's legendary Coach Cally Gault's coaching tree. The banner stated, "Football lasts 48 minutes. Memories are for a lifetime!"In years to come, the Presbyterian College record books would include the 1979 Blue Hose football team with an overall record of 11-2. Many would look at the record and think "That was pretty good!" Success for the 1979 Blue Hose certainly did not come overnight. The blueprint for success began in the mid 1970's. I was afraid the significance and achievements of the 1979 Presbyterian College Blue Hose football team would be lost forever. I decided to document the season and The Southern Massacre was written. Narratives of the games are captured by newspaper articles. The book reflects and reminds us of social, political and economic issues of 1979. Portions of the layout will be nostalgic to many. The format is different as I have emphasized the reflections from my interviews of the players, coaches and others associated with the team looking back years later. I have concentrated on the performance on the field in what I call "In between the lines." The inspiration to document this story began in the spring of 2022. While searching Presbyterian College on eBay, I came across an auction for a football. Closer examination of the auction revealed that the football, which somehow got in the marketplace, was the most historical football in Presbyterian College football history. It was the game ball from the 1979 Bronze Derby game, signed by the team. I was a sophomore at PC in 1979. I witnessed this historical team. They were my classmates and friends. I was afraid that the ball would fall in the hands of a football autograph collector and the ball would never be seen again. I purchased and rescued the ball!

The story of Riley the Right Whale mimics a true story of Snow Cone and her baby calf. Snow Cone gave birth to a male calf while she was entangled in ropes and nets. FWC removed some of the ropes hindering Snow Cone, but they were not able to free her entirely and she was forced to swim and care for her calf while entangled. Snow Cone and her baby were sighted near Jacksonville in December of 2021 and on January 13, 2022, she was spotted with her calf off the coast of Flagler Beach where they documented the entanglement. She is not doing well as the rope is embedded in her upper jaw and wrapped around her mouth area. No one has seen Snow Cone since October of 2022. The chances of her survival are not good. This is bad news for our beloved North Atlantic Right Whales, who are literally struggling to survive and fighting for their place in our Oceans. Snow Cone is not alone.

This is a little book of prayers for children to celebrate and cherish the simple wonders of beaches and islands. The doodles in it capture the beauty and joy that dance in a child's eyes as they breathe the fresh salt air, hear the gentle waves, and feel the sun warm their faces. These happy doodles are dances of gratitude for God's timeless creations.

Through Leslie we learn that acorn barnacles are hermaphroditic and that they mate to produce thousands of free-swimming larvae that go through several stages before making it to their end form as a sessile adult. We learn that those millions of barnacle larva have a critically important role near the base of the food pyramid. We learn how difficult it is for a larva barnacle to even make it to adulthood. And then, when a sessile, firmly attached adult, the encrusting barnacle that is the bane of so many ship and boat owners, we learn that life's perils just begin. Through Leslie and friends, we learn that even the least among us can do our part to care for Planet Earth's greatest feature, Our Ocean.We hope you will enjoy learning about our Great Global Ocean through the adventures of Leslie and her friends.

Connecting Reflections represents a collection of poetry written over the past 15 years. Divided into sections, some poems are meditative and spiritual, some experiential, and others political in nature. Some of the poems are geometrically shaped, at times "concrete," while others are a combination of conventional and original forms. This varied collection of poems offers a more complete look into William''s many-sided life. For as Albert Camus observed, "To create is an act of generosity." Originally, titled Words Heard and Unheard, friend T. J. Brauer''s illustration for the book cover inspired the title change to Connecting Reflections.

Over many decades spent on Tybee Island and other beautiful Georgia barrier islands, the author, a naturalist and Disney-trained animator, pens and illustrates his nature observations on the beaches, in the woods and of the marshes. Taking inspiration from Thoreau, the author's favorite place to commune with nature is right by his own Maudlin Pond.
