Between 1850 and 1859, Albany, New York printer Joel Munsell published ten volumes of The Annals of Albany. Each of these volumes were compendiums of historical information he collected on the history of Albany, New York and combined them, in no apparent order or category, into an annual publication for a decade. He collected scraps from newspapers, genealogy, deaths, religion, public and private organizations, maps, illustrations, and included already published pamphlets and other material connected with the history, ancient or modern, of Albany. This collection represents material he collected and published more than 170 years ago. This is the facsimile edition of Volume One with annotations and additions supplied by the editor.

Since 1893 the Altamont Fair has been keeping the age-old tradition of country fairs alive with entertaining acts, music, midways, circus & carnival acts, competition and exhibits. It serves as a place where community engagement takes place; where love is kindled; where young people learn friendship, explore the arts, pursue agrarian lifestyles, and learn how to work together with their peers. This collection of images over the centuries brings to light some of the people, events, and institutions that made Watervliet New York an important and early manufacturing center in the Capital District. This third volume presents the Watervliet Arsenal, an Army-owned and operated manufacturing facility located in the northern part of Watervliet. The arsenal is the oldest, continuously active arsenal in the United States having begun operations during the War of 1812. Many old timers and family members will remember working at the arsenal and have stories to tell. For some it was the center of their life.

This collection of images over the centuries brings to light some of the people, events, and institutions that made Watervliet, New York animportant and early manufacturing center in the Capital District. Thissecond volume presents Watervliet's Erie Canal. Scenes along the canal of businesses, manufacturers, mom and pop stores, homes, and people that give the city this rich history. Many old timers will remember many of the stories each picture presents and provide to the younger reader a historical context to where they live and call home.

Yet, Vanderheyden, formerly known as Vanderheyden Hall and before that the Troy Orphan Asylum, has been doing just that. Vanderheyden's rich history of serving the needs of young children goes unmatched in the Capital District of New York. To celebrate the 185 years of service as an incorporated institution, this book gives a history and overview on the history of orphans in New York and in particular the origins and growth of Vanderheyden and its many services it provides even to this day. Included in the book is several testimonials from former residents, now adults, of Vanderheyden telling their first hand experiences while living there.
