Garlic, is a species of the onion genus Allium. It is a close relative to onion with a history of human use of over 7000 years ago. Garlic was known to Ancient Egyptians and has been used for both culinary and medicinal purposes. It was fed particularly to the working class involved in heavy labor, as in the building of the pyramids, presumably to maintain and increase their strength, thereby enabling them to work harder and be more productive. Not only garlic was used by ancient Egyptians but also was widely used by ancient Chinese by or before 2000 BC. In ancient Indian holy book ¿ garlic was mentioned among other medicinal plants used. Garlic possesses several pharmacological properties such as antimicrobial, antioxidant and anticancer activities. Also, garlic and its components have potent anti-parasitic activities against many human and animal parasites. The emergence of drug resistance and the societal pressure against the use of antibiotics is driving medical research towards the use of unconventional strategies. Therefore, plant oils and extracts such as garlic extracts can be used as alternatives or adjunct to the current anti-microbial drugs.

This work aims at investigating factors affecting the policy of Arabization in Algeria, such as language competence, language choice, and language attitudes in addition to attitudes towards Arabization and Arabic-French Bilingualism. Correlations between these factors and socio-biographical variables are also investigated. Besides, the aforementioned factors are classified, among other linguistic as well as non-linguistic factors elicited from a number of Algerians, as favouring or disfavouring the policy of Arabization in Algeria. The work¿s results then may lead to implications related to fields other than Sociolinguistics and Language planning; fields like Applied Linguistics, Politics and perhaps Social Marketing. Therefore, this work should be useful for any researcher interested in Human Sciences.

Violence against adolescents is understood as being any sort of mistreatment of adolescents within or outside of the family environment. The aggressor inflicts light or severe damage, the causes of which can be related to individual, family, socioeconomic, environmental or cultural factors. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of implementing an educational intervention concerning violence among adolescents. Assessment was done for (500) students from seven prep-schools (one school from each educational sector) in Beni Suef Governorate to assess violence-related attitudes and behaviors among adolescents and assess factors that lead to violence related attitudes and behaviors among adolescents. One school was selected randomly from the seven school of seven educational sectors¿ to implement the program. The sample consisted of 138 students.Nurses must work to increase awareness and develop the skills of both teachers and parents, to use alternatives other than the corporal punishment.

Synopsis The concepts of ambition and aspiration adopted by Theodore Dreiser, as one of the pioneers of Naturalism in American literature are the core of this study. In his writings Dreiser refers to ambition as a strong desire to collect money and fortune, whereas aspiration indicates an animal desire for women. In his Trilogy of Desire, Dreiser introduces a pattern that differs from what he was in reality. He was brought up as poor and unable to do anything to himself, his family or his society. On the contrary, Dreiser presents the hero of his trilogy, Mr. Frank Cowperwood, as one of the men who are qualified to become popular, wealthy and powerful. Dreiser depends in this trilogy on Mr. Cowperwood who embodies the character of Mr. Charles Yerkes. Mr. Yerkes was a famous and successful American businessman and politician at that time. The first novel, The Financier (1912), witnesses Cowperwood¿s great progress in business and his political and social success. Since he was a young child Cowperwood was a master among his brothers and his school colleagues. He was fascinated with money, economics and trade, the matter that his father¿s job as a bank manager increased.

Les représentations du réel de chaque communauté linguistique sont structurées par la langue, elle-même conditionnée par la culture. Des locuteurs de langues différentes n¿ont donc pas, du même réel, des représentations convergentes. Donc, dans l¿absolu, le réel n'existe pas vraiment, en soi ; il est construit, non pas de manière fortuite, mais en adéquation avec le vaste système de structures, spécifiques à chaque langue, par lesquelles les usagers communiquent et se représentent le réel et dans lesquelles ils impriment ces représentations. De ce point de vue, une langue ne constitue donc pas une simple nomenclature. Elle est indissociablement liée à des représentations, largement façonnées par la culture, qüelle impose à ses usagers. Pratiquer une même langue à l¿intérieur d¿une communauté linguistique donnée, c¿est donc, avoir en partage, avec les individus composant cette communauté, les mêmes représentations. C¿est, en définitive, se sentir appartenir culturellement à cette communauté. Or, le sentiment d¿appartenance culturelle implique une identification personnelle par référence à cette même communauté, fondant ainsi l¿identité individuelle.

Unlike ancient times during which stating the truth straightforwardly was the common practice,playing with words appears to depict today¿s communication style. Indeed, the flagrant use of equivocations has, nowadays, become a phenomenon that characterizes people¿s ¿verbal behavior¿. Instead of the Utopia that humankind has long dreamt of, today¿s society seems to endorse lies, treacheries, and duplicities. People tend to systematically act in incongruity with their sayings, and lead a life of flaws and contradictions; clubs were created for prevarications and lies; the truth has become multiple truths dressed in different facets while associated withunprecedented numerous fallacies. Patience was lost in the midst of deplorable mendacities; deceits thrived and witnessed the rise of copious admirers upon whom leading positions are bestowed and subsequently the supremacy to eradicate those who challenge their perfidies and lies. The question is: How long can the few remaining ¿truth believers¿ resist before the lying tsunami gobbles them? Indeed, lying with its diverse forms has penetrated today¿s economic, social, political, commercial, and religious aspects of life.

Chronic HCV infection is the main cause (90%) of EMC type II and III with or without clinical or biochemical evidence of liver damage. Anti HCV antibodies, HCV proteins and HCV-RNA have, been found in the cryoprecipitate in concentrated form. Several HCV genotypes are involved in the pathogenesis of the disease. Cryoglobulinemia is quite frequent in chronic HCV infection and when appropriate techniques of cryoglobulin detection are applied. Its frequency is usually higher than 40% are more frequently females, cirrhosis and have a longer duration of HCV infection. Only a minority (approximately 10%) is associated with MC disease. HCV as a lymphotropic virus may play a direct role in the development of low grade non Hodgkin¿s lymphoma usually associated with EMC.

Problématique: Une étude chez le rat a montré que le créatol serait synthétisée dans l¿organisme, à partir de la créatinine excrétée normalement par le rein. L¿attaque de radicaux oxydants provoquerait la formation de créatol. Celui-ci serait oxydé enzymatiquement par la LCHAO (Enzyme). Le produit d¿oxydation, la créatone, se décomposerait spontanément en Méthyl Guanidine (MG), produit considéré comme toxique et qui se trouve à un taux élevé chez les patients urémiques. Dans ce travail, nous cherchons d¿inhiber la LCHAO pour éviter la formation de la MG.

Les enzymes produites à grande échelle sont principalement des enzymes extracellulaires qui dégradent des polymères naturels tels que les amidons, les pectines, les celluloses et les protéines. De ce groupe, se dégagent les enzymes pectinolytiques ou pectinases qui sont un groupe hétérogène d'enzymes qui hydrolysent les substances pectiques produites par les plantes supérieures et les micro-organismes. Dans ce sens, la plupart des préparations commerciales de pectinases sont d'origine fongique. Aspergillus est le genre le plus communément utilisé pour la production d'enzymes pectinolytiques particulièrement avec l'espèce niger. Les préparations commerciales des pectinases représentent un complexe formé de polygalacturonases, les pectineméthylestérases et les pectines lyases. Le présent document est une recherche menée dans le cadre de la valorisation de sous produits agroalimentaires. Il illustre l¿étude sur la production d¿enzymes pectinolytiques par bioconversion microbienne sur milieu solide des résidus du jus d¿oranges riche en substrats pectiques à travers l¿emploi d¿une souche d¿Aspergillus niger.

Les travaux présentés dans ce projet font l¿objet du développement d¿un outil d¿étude de la stabilité de tension d¿un réseau électrique en se basant sur une analyse modale. Dans une première étape, un modèle statique linéaire a été développé, exprimant les variations des puissances injectées en fonction des modules et phases des tensions. Par rapport au modèle classique, le modèle développé tient compte de la variation des puissances des charges, des systèmes de compensation et des générateurs, résultant en une Jacobienne globale plus détaillée. L¿avantage principal de cette méthode, est qüelle permet de traiter chaque mode séparément, et la stabilité du réseau implique la stabilité des modes au lieu de la stabilité des n¿uds. Puisque la stabilité de tension concerne principalement les n¿uds de tension fluctuante, notamment les n¿uds consommateurs ou les n¿uds P-V atteignant leur limite maximale, la Jacobienne réduite est utilisée. Un mode critique correspond à un n¿ud où la tension s¿est dégradée. Le degré de propagation de chaque mode peut être déterminé à partir des facteurs de participation des n¿uds, des branches et des générateurs.

Convective heat transfer was experimentally investigated in tubes with helical coils inserts in turbulent flow regime within Reynolds number range of 14400 ¿ Re ¿ 42900. The present work aims to extend the experimental data available on wire coil inserts to cover wire diameter ratio from 0.044 to 0.133 and coil pitch ratio from 1 to 5. Uniform heat flux was applied to the external surface of the tube . Air was selected as fluid. The effects of Reynolds number and wire diameter and coil pitch ratios on the Nusselt number and friction factor were studied. The enhancement efficiency and performance criteria ranges are of (46.9¿82.6%) and (100.1¿128%) within the investigated range of the different parameters, respectively. Correlations are obtained for the average Nusselt number and friction factor utilizing the present measurements within the investigated range of geometrical parameters and Re.

Pour parvenir à des solutions plus satisfaisantes, il nous est apparu opportun de définir les contours juridiques d¿un régime d¿indemnisation automatique dans lequel toute considération de responsabilité serait étrangère. Dans un système d¿indemnisation automatique, le dommage est réparé sans qüil soit nécessaire d¿imputer sa survenance à l¿activité d¿une personne, tandis que la mise en ¿uvre du mécanisme de la responsabilité civile nécessite la recherche d¿un responsable dont l¿activité est à l¿origine du dommage. Selon le principe de l¿indemnisation automatique, il faut rejeter toute idée de faute et de responsabilité aussi bien du côté de la victime que du côté de l¿auteur du dommage. Une indemnisation automatique des victimes fondée sur une assurance directe constitue une solution satisfaisante dans la mesure où l¿assurance directe couvre les occupants du véhicule impliqué dans un accident de la circulation ainsi que les tiers victimes d¿un tel accident. Ce système de l¿assurance directe peut résoudre les lacunes du régime rattaché à la responsabilité civile.

This book is conducted during three and a half years of practical work and finalized in May 2010. The research was about the effect of (Application of plant tissue culture technique for production of tropane alkaloids from Datura innoxia Mill). The conducted experiments included: leaf explants sterilization, studying the effect of different combinations and concentrations of cytokinin (BA) and auxins (NAA and 2,4-D). The cultures were grown on MS medium with normal S0 (30 gl-1), S1 (15 gl- 1), and S2 (45 gl-1) sucrose. The MS media also contained 3 levels of salts, normal, half, and double salt strength i.e., X0, X1, and X2 respectively and all the cultures were placed in three local Aluminum made Growth Chambers maintained in an air-conditioned room at a temperature of 25±1 C°, the source of illumination in each chamber was with irradiance of 60¿100 ¿mol m¿2s¿1 provided by 1.25 feet white cool fluorescent tubes (20 watt).

In this book,I propose a Finite Element Methods analyzing applied to the linear tubular stepping actuator.The design requires the choice of appropriate tooth geometry.A study in open loop control using the software Matlab and Simulink is given to present the dynamic behavior,the currents and the control form.In closed loop control,I present S.M.C to eliminate the disturbance of the current when the motor load is important.Then to optimize the mechanical structure,my aim is to maximize the trust force taking into account the actuator¿s weight which is considering as the most important constraint.The contribution of the machine weight minimization is principally a cost decrease that permits its integration in small systems.The optimization method approach is evolutionary strategy method.F.E.A is then employed to calculate a series of designs and determine the optimum one.Then,I present the right choice between 2D and 3D mesh so that the F.E.A gets efficient solutions.After, I increase the solution accuracy by increasing the model's polynomial order while keeping constant the number of mesh elements in order to minimize the discretization error.
