Over the years, school drop-out rates have been alarmingly high in the country's educational institutions. In the subsequent technical courses at the Federal Institute of Santa Catarina (IF-SC), the high dropout rates have attracted attention. In addition to wasting public resources, the institution is not fully meeting its main objective, which is to raise the level of education of the population, demonstrating that action is needed to reverse this situation. With this in mind, the aim of this study was to understand the reasons that lead students to drop out of subsequent technical courses at IF-SC - Campus Criciúma. The specific objectives were to analyse the socio-economic profile of the students who dropped out and the profile of the students who remained; to identify the different reasons that lead students to drop out and that are not included in the Institutional Development Plan (IDP) and to present elements for the institution and staff to rethink the potential for change in their practices.

Every text, every piece of research has a unique history. It is the result of a constant process of choices and conflicts that give birth to an idea. This text is the fruit of a path taken, of a lived experience, of research carried out over five years, from 2003 to 2007, which were dedicated to understanding, to unveiling the social practice of the Bahá'ís in Brazil; five years of lived experiences and observations within the community being researched. Paradoxically, this text is both plural and unique. Plural because it contains thoughts, reflections and contrasts during these years of research, because it includes a little bit of each subject researched, whether through interviews or observations. Unique, since it specifies part of a social reality developed in the daily lives of a portion of our society, because it has intrinsic historicity, thus portraying a lived, experienced reality.

Increasing the productivity of teak (Tectona grandis L.f.) has been one of the concerns of the production sector, which involves, above all, the choice of locations, genotypes and the adoption of appropriate management regimes for growing the species. This book will be a benchmark in the historical process of its cultivation, as we are proposing, using and demonstrating the effectiveness of less empirical methods, such as Hierarchical Process Analysis (AHP), for choosing suitable sites for cultivation, based on the ecological and silvicultural requirements of the species, based on climatic, edaphic and physiographic variables. It is aimed at teachers, researchers, extension workers, students, forestry engineers and technicians, forestry entrepreneurs, foresters and other interested parties. To carry out this work, we have the support of the Mato Grosso Research Support Foundation - FAPEMAT, the National Scientific and Technological Council - CNPq, IFMT Campus Cáceres-Prof. Olegário Baldo, the Federal University of Viçosa, the Mato Grosso Reforesters Association, the Mato Grosso State Planning Department, forestry companies, professionals and professors from various institutions.

This book reflects the desire to highlight the trajectories of teachers and to demonstrate, in dialogue with these subjects, that teaching in Early Childhood Education involves dimensions that escape scientific objectivity and tension the discourse of technical rationality that permeates many discussions in the field of the teaching profession. Affections, relationships, care, values, aesthetics, commitment, the moral and ethical dimension of the work of teachers of babies and young children help to make up ways of being in the teaching profession and should not be considered unprofessional elements, as can be inferred from the narratives discussed throughout the chapters.

This paper analyzes and exposes the existing deficiencies in the Territorial Plan for Integral Development for Living Well in the Department of Cochabamba 2021-2022, in the areas of health and environment.Thus, a description is presented, then recommendations to finally establish participatory mechanisms for inclusion in the Territorial Plan of Integral Development for Living Well in the Department of Cochabamba 2021- 2025, presenting guidelines for the attention and solution of the problem, considering the sustainable endogenous development, capable of transforming society based on the reconquest of traditions and cultural knowledge; since there is no mention and less a territorial planning, land use and less development, to ensure compliance with the beautiful thing that is mentioned: Integral development in harmony with Mother Earth to eliminate poverty.

The research in question aims to analyze the environmental and social parameters in the cities of Guaratinguetá, Pindamonhangaba and Taubaté. This study has five sections. The first is the Introduction, which presents each of the themes that will be addressed, as well as the objectives, delimitation, relevance and organization of the work. The second section presents the literature review, which looks at work as human production; in this way it develops the themes associated with the research, such as economic growth, environmental sustainability and regional development linked to public policies and their social and environmental applicability. The third section describes the method adopted in the research, the areas in which it was carried out and the data collection techniques. The fourth section shows the results through tables and graphs in order to illustrate and weigh up the data analyzed. The fifth section concludes the study with the final considerations and the results of the research, followed by the bibliographical references.

This paper presents the plantation economy and local development in the Buzi group in the Kalehe territory of eastern DR Congo. In this region, land tenure as a factor of economic production is the subject of confrontation between natives and non-natives over land on the bangs of concessions/plantations. As the land in this region is fertile and the specific geographical conditions make it highly suitable for cultivation, most contemporary plantations are made up of former coffee plantations and cattle farms established in colonial times.We have set ourselves the following objectives: to take stock of concessions and development in Buzi; to determine how the plantation economy influences local development in Buzi; and to propose ways and means of improving the contribution of farming on concessions to local development in the Buzi group.

Corporate governance is a fundamental concern in an increasingly competitive environmentincreasingly competitive environment subject to fluctuating pressures. Governance usually refers to the institutional and relational arrangements, sometimes complex and not always explicit, by which an organization operates and is regulated. Like any social phenomenon, it can be presented through the multiple "lenses" offered by the various human sciences. Thus, when it comes to governance, the jurist would detail the institutional provisions, the economist would focus on supply and demand, while the psychosociologist would be interested in the evolution of mentalities, in the stakeholders' centers of interest. Among these interests is the satisfaction of needs through remuneration.

The synthesis of critical works by Victor Hugo, Denis Saurat and Alain Decaux, provided a starting point and theoretical support for the subsequent development of our contribution in the form of a literary analysis applied to a selected corpus in order to explain and put into practice general considerations, while drawing on our knowledge of Orthodox theology. In the light of our research, verse analysis highlights the important religious dimension of Victor Hugo's poetic expression: the poet-prophet has the certainty of God's existence and the awareness necessary to think and act according to the principles of Christian morality. As far as the poet-prophet's mission is concerned, we have deduced that he campaigns for the punishment of those who do not believe in God and do not agree to carry out His will. His work is to work for social progress, to defend truth, justice, freedom and faith wherever they are threatened, to rekindle courage and lift hearts. Beyond that, poetry is nothing but empty noise and a rhetorical exercise.

The INDC report published by the government in 2015 states, on pages 13-14, that climate change could cause the destruction of around 40% to 50% of the marine corals in the Blue Lagoon area; 25% to 30% of the endemic species that live in the mangroves; 25% to 35% of the mangroves themselves and the migration of 30% to 45% of sea turtles. Combined with the different risks, a reduction in artisanal fishing production of around 50% is expected. Therefore, like agriculture, fisheries deserve special attention when designing interventions to increase resilience in STP.This work aims to mitigate and adapt São Tomé and Príncipe's risks to climate change.This book is the result of the experience and appropriation of the treaties and conventions of WIPO (World Intellectual Property Organization) and ARIPO (African Intellectual Property Organization), UNEP (United Nations Environment Programme) aimed at promoting sustainable agriculture with high levels of food security, green and blue tourism in São Tomé and Príncipe.

This was a cross-sectional analytical study with retrospective data collection over 10 years (2012 - 2021). The frequency of vulnating CEOs was 9.1 cases/year (4.7%). The mean age of patients was 14 ± 19 years. The sex ratio was 1.6. The circumstances of onset were dominated by accidental ingestion of vulgarizing CEOs (98.9%). The average consultation time was 7.5 hours. Dysphagia was the dominant symptom (64.8%). Cervico-thoracic radiography revealed double-contour radiopaque images in 71.4%. Rigid-tube esophagoscopy was performed in 97.8% of cases. The average time to extraction of vulenerating CEOs was 8 hours. Vulnerable CEOs were non-organic in 84.6% of cases. Button cells accounted for 64.8%. Their location was cervical in 61.5% of cases intraoperatively. Lesion assessment revealed ulcero-necrotic lesions in 42.9% (p

With the ageing of the population, improvements in health promotion and the intense process of urbanization, infectious diseases have been replaced by diseases such as malignant neoplasms. As a treatment for malignant neoplasms, antineoplastic chemotherapy is still a widely used form of treatment, generally causing a range of unpleasant side effects, such as oral mucositis. The content of this book deals with the production of a protocol for the prevention and treatment of oral mucositis with the aim of contributing to a higher quality of care, reducing the institution's costs, and standardizing the actions of the multi-professional team during the period of treatment of the cancer client undergoing antineoplastic chemotherapy.

Since 1979, Tunisia has been free of indigenous malaria. However, the risk of reintroduction remains real, given the presence of vectors and the incidence of imported cases. The aim of our work was to determine the epidemiological, clinical and parasitological characteristics of imported malaria cases. Our study covered 96 cases of malaria diagnosed between 2012 and 2023, representing an average annual incidence of 8.2 cases/year. Patients had a sex ratio of 31 and an average age of 34. The place of infection was the Central African Republic in 59% of cases. Chemoprophylaxis was taken in 33% of cases. Diagnosis was made on the basis of screening (35%) or clinical signs (65%). Clinical signs included fever in 94% of cases. The species identified were P. falciparum (64 cases), P.ovale (31 cases) and P.malariae (one case). Trophozoites and gametocytes were observed in 90% and 43% of patients respectively. In 25% of P.ovale cases, at least one relapse was observed. Early parasitological diagnosis and appropriate treatment are essential to combat the reintroduction of this parasitosis.

¿-Thalassemia is a hereditary chronic hemolytic anemia characterized by a defect in the synthesis of beta-globin chains, particularly common in the Mediterranean region, southern Asia and the Middle East.Transfusion programs and chelation therapy have considerably prolonged the life expectancy of patients. This has led to an increase in the prevalence of cardiac, hepatic and endocrine complications linked to iron overload.Endocrine complications, through direct damage to glandular parenchyma or the hypothalamo-hypophyseal axis, lead to hypogonadism, short stature, hypothyroidism, hypoparathyroidism, glucose intolerance (GI) and diabetes mellitus.

Like several other municipalities that make up the state of Ceará, the municipality of Baturité faces serious problems with water shortages. Notwithstanding this reality, there is the Quilombola Community of Serra do Evaristo, which is facing significant water shortage problems. This situation is the subject of this book: Analysing the process of community water management in the Quilombola Community of Serra do Evaristo. In order to gain a more detailed understanding of this process, it was necessary to diagnose: how the community is organised with regard to water management; how decisions are made; what the concerns are regarding the quality and quantity of water; which sources of supply and how they are used, the current state of conservation of cisterns and natural sources. This book seeks to provide an understanding of how residents establish water management via cistern storage, and that this provides an overview of the dynamics of community water management in the Brazilian semi-arid region, especially in the Quilombo Community of Serra do Evaristo in the semi-arid region of Ceará in the north-east of the country.

This book critically analyzes the reality of Syrian refugees in Brazil and in refugee camps from the perspective of international law. The Syrian War has triggered the biggest global humanitarian crisis since the Second World War. In this context, forced displacement, whether by refugees or even internally displaced persons, has contributed to the creation of refugee camps, which denote the infrastructure of misery. In addition, the aim is to analyze forced displacement, present the human rights violations perpetrated against Syrian refugees, and establish a parallel between the reality experienced in refugee camps and that experienced by individuals in a condition of refuge in Brazil, given the legal diplomas. Field research was also carried out with Syrian refugees in Brazil, in the city of Belo Horizonte, in order to understand the reality they experience, establishing an analysis of the ineffectiveness of Human and Fundamental Rights, protected by the 1988 Constitution of the Federative Republic of Brazil and International Treaties.

The Person and Freedom explores the different facets of human freedom, in relation to the person, being, God and society. It draws on theological, etymological, biblical and philosophical sources to show how freedom is an essential attribute of the human person, created in the image and likeness of God, and called to share in his divine life. The book analyzes the different conceptions of freedom held by modern philosophers such as Kant, Descartes, Sartre, Schopenhauer, Bergson, Allul and Camus, and compares them with the Christian vision of freedom, based on obedience, grace, faith and charity. The book also examines the issues of freedom in political life, the fear of death, and slavery. It offers a critical approach to these issues, and argues that human freedom reaches its fullness when ordered to goodness, truth and beatitude. The book concludes by inviting the reader to live according to the freedom of God's children, which is a joyful, generous and responsible freedom.

The aim of this research was to evaluate the effectiveness of complementary didactic activities in the perception and cognition of environmental issues and to characterise the cognitive profile of technical high school students on the subject of the environment. Practical activities with environmental themes were carried out with students from the Federal Institute of Amapá, Laranjal do Jari campus. One of the two environmental classes was chosen, made up of similar numbers of students in different classes who had the same socio-economic profile. At the same time as the experimental teaching project, a general survey was carried out with 328 students from the campus. The qualitative analysis of the data showed unequivocal evidence of positive changes in terms of formal knowledge accumulated about the environment during the project's development period. The hypothesis that environmental education activities planned and included in the formal classroom routine lead to greater perception and understanding of environmental issues and problems that students experience in their locality was corroborated by both the quantitative analyses and the qualitative observations.

The parietal lobe functions in close relation to other brain structures, as it is the seat of reception and integration of sensory and sensory information. This lobe constitutes a veritable crossroads between motor representations and sensory and sensory projections.To understand parietal symptomatology, we need to bear in mind that this lobe is divided into three functional areas: the primary somato-sensitive area, formed by the ascending parietal gyrus; the secondary somato-sensory areas, formed by the superior parietal gyrus; and the tertiary integration areas, represented by the inferior parietal gyrus. Lesions of the primary sensory area cause superficial hypoesthesia contralateral to the lesion, and focal sensory epileptic seizures. Lesions of secondary areas are responsible for tactile discrimination disorders, parietal ataxia or proprioception disorders. Finally, lesions in tertiary areas are responsible for body schema disorders, visio-spatial disorders, spatial agnosia, praxis disorders, sensory extinction or language disorders.

This work investigated the actor's bodily\vocal\energetic preparation process for the street, developed at the Quem Tem Boca é Pra Gritar Theatre Group. Our main aim was to understand the processes the actor goes through to develop an energy for the street scene. What is this energy that is established and relates to the passers-by\spectators? What is it that attracts the attention of the passer-by? Is it the story? The costume or is it a potentialised expressiveness? Is it an energy present in the actor's body that relates to the passer-by? How does the actor relate to the urban space? In an attempt to answer these questions, we used some principles of Modern Physics, such as Quantum Theory and the Uncertainty Principle, as well as Chaos Theory and the methodological principle of the Matrix Method. The majority of street theatre goes through long processes of scenic construction, but when it is brought to the public, it is taken over by other causalities, because being on the street, the actor becomes the subject of that space, and cannot deny the eventuality of the facts that may occur there.

Childhood is the story of a dream, a poem of hope and a thought of sweetness. Children, as their hearts are gentle, pure, sincere, they can't bear hate, they don't know hatred and smiles never leave them. Children's feelings are sensitive, their conversations are interesting and their interactions are loving. If you offend them today, they'll forget tomorrow, and with a word you can erase that offense, for their hearts are white and bear no burden against anyone.

The various characteristics and dimensions of poverty need to be analysed in research into the health conditions of individuals and groups in situations of social vulnerability. In fact, public policies aimed at combating poverty and reducing inequalities in health also need to consider the territory as a fundamental element in identifying inequalities. From this perspective, understanding the effect of socio-spatial segregation on the morbidity and mortality status of certain populations plays a fundamental role in studies on social determinants and their influence on living conditions.

A technique for the disarticulation of skull bones for academic, didactic and research purposes is described. This technique consists of the introduction of dry or dehydrated seeds in the different cranial cavities, followed by their immersion in a container with water. This causes the hydration of the seeds, increasing their volume and generating an increase in pressure inside the cranial cavities, which leads to their subsequent disarticulation.Through this process, all the bones that make up the neurocranium, the chondrocranium and the vicerocranium are obtained. By separating the bones in this way, all the anatomical details are preserved, including their three-dimensionality and their characteristic anatomical elements. This enhances the learning possibilities by preserving every detail of the anatomical pieces, as well as the research and extension processes, since it provides the opportunity to create exhibitions with the pieces obtained.

Cameroonian society is a cultural melting pot of tradition and modernity. The social institution of marriage is a prime example of this. Indeed, the effects and consequences of marriage, and first and foremost its formation - the subject of our study - are influenced by modern legal rules drawn from French law and traditional Cameroonian law. In this respect, we note that the latter are often set aside in preference to the former, which enjoy a certain supremacy. And yet, the law applicable to a given society must be a perfect reflection of it. In this respect, our reflection is a call to Cameroonian legislators to take greater account of traditional law. The latter should draw more on traditional legal resources to produce a law that reflects Cameroon's social reality. It's not a question of getting lost in the multitude of existing customary practices, but of drawing from them the essential rules of law that are universal to all ethnic groups and respectful of human dignity.

The book takes a look at this innovative project, which comes into force in 2018. It is a joint effort by the Brazilian Federal Revenue Service, Social Security, Caixa Econômica Federal, the Ministry of Labour and the Labour Court. A survey was carried out to identify the main problems that end users of this new obligation are facing and what benefits the obligation to make this declaration will bring.

How should we live? What should we trust in order to fulfil ourselves morally? These questions were addressed in Immanuel Kant's practical philosophy, whose initial stimulus is summarised in the reflection on morality, which must be guided by reason, and the role of its cultivation in educational practices. The central proposal will not be summarised solely in the term morality, but this will be a guiding thread that will guide us, starting with the proposed link between the concepts of Religion and Education. This attempt to reconstruct the path of these themes of practical philosophy, in Kant's view, aims to present the process of development in moral formation, as well as the indispensable contribution of religion and pedagogy. Thinking about the successive consequences of improving the species also allows us to talk about an ethical community. This will be treated as the result of permanent moral formation, the fruit of a process of constant improvement, represented by the union of people morally engaged in cultivating good relations.

This manual systematizes, updates and deepens the main contributions of texts on the use of technology in mathematics teaching, mainly in Portuguese and Spanish. In this context, the first chapter contributes to raising general culture by addressing the relationship between technology and society. The second reflects on ICT in the teaching and learning process. The third deals with teaching and the place of the computer in this category. The fourth deals with the use of computers in the teaching and learning process. The fifth section briefly analyzes the use of the Graphmatica software in teaching mathematics and the sixth deals with the derive software as a powerful tool in different operations. The seventh deals with Geogebra, the eighth with the internet in teacher training and, finally, the ninth deals with contemporary conceptions of the use of computers in teaching.

Wetlands are capable of having a beneficial influence on water quality and quantity. The occupation of the marshes in the Rio dos Sinos catchment potentialises the negative effects of flooding and increases the difficulty of treating raw water for human supply. Ecosystems that are home to an important diversity of plant and animal species, they play the role of overflow areas for water bodies, capable of storing and filtering water during periods of flooding. This book is part of a dissertation that argued in favour of listing the marshes as heritage sites, an alternative option to environmental conservation and water resource management laws, because these are not observed to the extent that they ensure the conservation of the marshes. Sources capable of translating the relationship between people and the marshes were considered: photographic records, music, literature and, especially, listening to the narratives of people who have lived in the marshes and who reveal "the marshes in us and us in the marshes".

The main purpose of this book was to recover the story of one of the founders of the Unified Black Movement (MNU) in São Paulo, Vanderlei José Maria. By tracing his personal and activist life, we sought to understand how he thought about the situation of black people in Brazil. Firstly, we carried out a bibliographical survey to understand how the first moments of the struggle of black people in the country took place, from the abolition of slavery to the current period. We adopted Vygotsky's cultural-historical approach as our theoretical framework, which allows us to study man as a whole, seeing him as a biological and social being. To do this, we used semi-structured interviews, with the intention of allowing the interviewees to feel that they were not just objects, but that they could feel part of the research, since they were close to Vanderlei. At the end of the research, we realised that Vanderlei's story and those of many other activists are closely intertwined and that they still reflect the way the black movement thinks today.
