Most industries use the production of steam, superheated from a given fuel, as a mechanism for generating thermal energy. Improving the efficiency of industrial steam production has a direct impact on the consumption of these natural resources. The general aim of this research is to carry out an energy assessment and propose economic improvements to the biomass fed into the boiler at a vegetable oil extraction and refining industry located in the Feira de Santana region. In order to investigate the economic viability of a possible change in the biomass that feeds the boiler, calculations were carried out according to the thermodynamics of the reactions involved in this process. In order for a possible biomass exchange process to be considered economically viable, the cost of purchasing the biomass to be replaced must be lower than the current cost. Another factor that required economic analysis was the form of discount for eucalyptus chips. The simulations carried out to improve the biomass discount methodology were considered successful and can be used by the industry on a scientific basis.

Breast cancer has a high mortality and morbidity rate. Treatment using conventional methods such as surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy is difficult when the carcinoma is diagnosed at an advanced stage. In order to contribute to cancer treatment, the use of Magnetohyperthermia Therapy, whose procedure consists of increasing the temperature in a region of the body affected by the neoplasm using magnetic fluids, has brought satisfactory results. In this sense, magnetic nanoparticles are part of the international multidisciplinary effort to combat breast cancer. In this work, a new sample of magnetic fluids, made up of maghemite nanoparticles coated with gold, was tested for its potential to treat breast cancer with magnetohyperthermia (MHT). Using both iron oxide and gold, a system that exploits the surface chemistry of gold while maintaining the magnetic characteristics of iron oxide.

This is a work on the work of Adam Smith. It is not an exhaustive or exegetical analysis of his work, but rather a reading around two major themes: wealth and power, for the purposes of which his "Inquiry into the Nature and Causes of the Wealth of Nations" has been taken as the basic text. From there, a series of definitions of wealth and its relation to power have been extracted. Each of them gives rise to a chapter in which the meaning of the definition as well as its context are discussed, and then some conclusions about it are proposed. Although the general hypothesis of this essay sustains that there is a constant causal relationship between wealth and power, the treatment of the subject, for reasons of exposition, will be done separately, beginning with the definitions of wealth, considering that Adam Smith is considered one of the most important sources for the formation of modern economic theory.

Advances in technological resources pose major challenges for higher education institutions that need to incorporate information and communication technologies into their teaching activities. The Inverted Classroom (I-Classroom) methodology corresponds to the teaching method with face-to-face classes and the support of content in virtual environments. The big challenge is to understand the difficulties students have in using this methodology.

TVE Espírito Santo's "Povo na TV" programme was created during an effervescent period in Espírito Santo politics, when communication was valued as a way for public authorities to relate to ordinary citizens. This programme functioned as a media public square, where ordinary citizens had the chance to meet representatives of the government and present their demands. In some cases, the programme facilitated the execution of works and improvements in these communities. In this programme, the interviewee from the square, from the neighbourhoods, for an instant broke through the barriers and distances of the media and had access at that moment to their voice, becoming an actor in the process, capable of changing their social reality in some way by taking their demands for improvements to the neighbourhood or quality of life in general to the authorities - who were present in the studio - and denouncing them to the general population, the viewers.

Agroforestry backyards have become one of the characteristics of semi-arid regions due to the serious problems of income concentration, and are useful in family-based agricultural systems. Given the needs and quality of life of families, backyards provide economic benefits and can be considered sustainable over the years, as they offer a range of products and/or services, considerably reducing the family's out-of-pocket expenses. Backyards need to be well-structured and function properly, through conservation management, the use of appropriate tools, technically oriented fertilisation and pest control. This requires the producer to be trained in the choice of farming model in order to guarantee its sustainability over the years, in short, with a view to mitigating the negative effects on man and the environment.

The Dilemma of the Commons provides an experimental environment for the study of social conflicts, and a series of interdependent social behaviours can be analysed. This study sought to investigate the effect of response cost on the use of a renewable and finite resource, by means of an experimental analogue of macro-contingencies. The procedure used the Common Dilemma Game (CDG), in which 15 students from the University of Brasilia took part. The results showed a change in preference for cooperative and competitive behaviour as a result of the contingency in force, demonstrating a tendency towards avoidance behaviour in the presence of response cost. Therefore, greater effort in the response can make it aversive and lead to its reduction or extinction. Preference for the component with the lowest response effort occurs with increases in response cost. By combining the Common People's Dilemma game and a macrocontingency programme, it was possible to simulate natural problems and suggest important relationships present in the natural environment.

Between September and December 2016, a descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted with 36 older adults belonging to the Casa de Abuelos de Lotería, municipality of Cotorro. The objective was to determine whether there were changes in the perception of family functioning of the elderly after their incorporation to this institution. A semi-structured interview was applied to characterize the group from the socio-psychological point of view, the Test of Perception of Family Functioning FFSIL, in order to analyze the perception that the older adults have of their family functioning after being inserted in the Grandparents' Home and the Test of Perception of Family Relations of the Elderly to correlate the results obtained between the techniques applied and to verify the changes in the perception. It was concluded that these older adults are characterized by being a group well integrated to this institution, they do not present feelings of sadness, nor of loss of authority, nor of social roles, they do not feel isolated, the need to be listened to is satisfied in the diverse activities that they carry out jointly in the institution.

This paper analyses the educommunicative practices developed at the João Pio Municipal School in Tiradentes. The main objective is to demonstrate how these actions dialogue and support the promotion of communicative ecosystems in the community, raising the critical-appreciative apparatus of individuals and their sense of belonging. The concept of Educommunication provides the theoretical basis for the research, through activities involving the arts, urbanities and sustainability.

Road engineering projects are made up of various disciplines that vary according to the purpose and the works to be carried out. In general, before a project is conceived, during the planning phase, a technical, economic and environmental feasibility study (EVTEA) is carried out on the project so that, once its technical feasibility has been confirmed, the respective projects can be drawn up and the work carried out.In Brazil, in order to minimize the impacts of works on the community and the healthy quality of life of present and future generations, an administrative process was created to monitor and curb excesses committed by entrepreneurs. This is environmental licensing, an instrument of the National Environmental Policy (Law No. 6.938 of August 31, 1981).This study addresses the need for environmental sustainability in civil engineering works by proposing more efficient ways of working on projects, through a survey of practical solutions that promote the governance of sustainable development in the country's road infrastructure.

Rotter's (1966) concept of locus of control is the general tendency to believe that what happens to us depends on ourselves (internality) or, conversely, on chance or other factors beyond our control (externality). The main aim of this study was to show the prognostic value of the LOC and the value of psychotherapeutic action aimed at increasing the belief in personal control in the treatment of obesity. A comparison was made between the different general locus scales. Subjects were classified according to the presence or absence of eating disorders. The population consisted of 46 obese women undergoing treatment at a hospital in Bordeaux, France. The results showed that eating behaviour disorders in obese people are linked to externalism in weight control and externalism in personal control. Obese subjects without BAC believed more in weight control and personal control than subjects with BAC.

Site planning has been one of the most neglected aspects in the construction industry, with decisions being made as problems arise during execution. As a result, construction sites often fall short in terms of organisation and safety, creating a negative image for companies in the market and a distance from clients. Considering the need for construction site planning to follow structured procedures, this paper presents an explanation of the parameters considered when drawing up a construction site project and their importance for the course of the work; a construction site in the city of Natal/RN was analysed, seeking to assess the current situation of the site and how it would be if it had been built considering all the parameters that will be studied, in order to enable men and machines to work safely and efficiently, mainly by minimising the movement of materials, components and labour.

According to studies conducted by the World Health Organisation, foot problems in people with diabetes are the most frequent cause of hospital admission and absorb approximately 40% of available health care resources. It has been suggested by many authors that the diabetic foot is a major cause of morbidity and constitutes a chronic complication of diabetes mellitus that has an impact on the quality of life of these patients. Diabetic patient education is recognised as an essential component of diabetic patient care. Among the most effective measures to properly manage people with diabetes and prevent diabetic foot disease is personal, individual and group education. This book offers the necessary changes to acquire a healthy culture and a better lifestyle, to acquire the information required to get started and to be able to successfully navigate the long journey of dealing intelligently with and preventing future complications.

Attention Deficit Attention Deficit Disorders are a risk group because of their wide comorbidity due to behavioural, learning and social disorders. As an alternative treatment there is foot reflex zone therapy. Due to the lack of electroencephalographic markers that distinguish these children and the lack of information on the electrophysiological manifestations that occur with the application of this technique, this pre-experimental study was carried out to compare the quantitative electroencephalographic characteristics in this condition before and during the application of reflexology. During the technique, the absolute powers showed a highly significant increase in energy for the slow bands. The presence of slow activity whose topography coincides with the areas of behavioural control and an increase in energy for the slow bands during the sessions was observed.

Youth in Mexico are immersed in a scenario of employment, education and technology far removed from their peers in other OECD countries. In terms of education, enrolment is highest in the State of Mexico, followed by the Federal District, in relation to the number of young people. It can be seen that the upper secondary level is higher than the other levels. This implies that the degree of qualification is low, but it opens the opportunity for training which has been identified as a determinant of the quality of working life.

On many occasions and throughout the ages, the concept of "function", in the mathematical sense, often appears to be related to that of change. Some functions are used to interpret, for example, the variation in the speed of a mobile over a given period, or the trajectory traveled by a satellite. Mathematical language and objects are becoming increasingly necessary in the representation of the different phenomena studied by physics and in the solution of the models resulting from these formulations. The problem consists in the use of real functions to model physical notions, in such a way that it uses, among others, affine, linear, quadratic, trigonometric, logarithmic, exponential functions and their associated equations. The objective of this study is to generate a didactic sequence to be applied to high school students and to analyze the proposed activities, considering the semiotic representations of processing and conversion, and that of visualization that are proposed.

The aim of this research work was to comprehensively describe and analyse the experiences of older people in the context of widowhood, using phenomenology as a methodological trajectory for qualitative research, based on the ideas of philosopher Martin Heidegger as set out in his work Being and Time. The resulting speeches were carefully recorded for analysis in order to understand the nature of the phenomenon. In the first stage of analysis, four semantic units were constructed, followed by fuzzy and median analysis, and finally hermeneutic analysis. The findings indicate that widowed older people recognise that family and service support has helped them to cope with widowhood. The Dasein of these older people reveals a phenomenon of 'it is the void they leave behind' that enables Being, given the pre-existence that comes with coming into the world, and it is here, despite the difficulties, that they learn to cope with a life that goes from inauthenticity to authenticity framed by care, employment, treatment and being with others.

Fraudulent res judicata constitutes a procedural anomaly contrary to the principles of justice and legal certainty. Therefore, judges have the legal duty to restore the rights that have been violated to any of the parties in litigation and even third parties outside the process. At present, civil procedural law as an instrumental (adjective) law is nourished by constitutional law, which has created mechanisms in favour of those administered and jurisdictional bodies that tend to guarantee the ultimate aim of any process: justice, protected by the guarantee of due process. Consequently, a study is made of the requirements that would make it viable and possible for judges to determine the existence of fraudulent res judicata, for the purpose of restoring the violated legal rights through expeditious procedural means such as the appeal for annulment. However, it is necessary to attenuate the dispositive principle and the elimination of the expiry of the time limit of the action in order to be able to recognise third parties who, after days, months or even years, become aware of the fraudulent res judicata ruling in the exercise of their claims.

Nineteen homoaporphine bases have been isolated from various genera and species of lily plants (Table I) /29-31/. All of them are five-substituted compounds in benzene rings, in which the substituents are located in positions. 1, 2, 10, 11 ¿ 12. The structure of their first representatives was established mainly by the study of spectral data and on the basis of biogenetic schemes of lily alkaloids, as well as by correlation with aporphine alkaloids.

For 3.5 billion years, life on Earth has been evolving. In this evolutionary process, plants and animals have naturally undergone genetic changes through the mechanisms of inheritance and genetic variation. Homo sapiens, seeking to satisfy their primary needs, especially for food, have been involved in evolution for 9,000 to 10,000 years and have created new genotypes of animals and plants through domestication. The Andean Sapiens with much creativity and amazing ingenuity began to use genetics and biotechnology in the early stages of the Holocene and created more than 150 cultivated plants and 5 domesticated animals. They also used biotechnology for plant propagation and food preservation.

To know oneself is the central purpose of life. Being a method of perception, the state of mind resulting from the meditative act is a means of knowing oneself. It is not the only one. There are four main states of consciousness: ordinary waking consciousness, dreaming sleep, deep sleep and the meditative state. The first is characterised by the self focused outward, the second by the self focused on inner thoughts, the third by the self free of all perception and the last by the self focused on the self. Only in this fourth state is direct knowledge of the self possible, and the cessation of the division between subject and object seen. Only meditation, or the fourth state of Consciousness, permits perception and direct knowledge of the Self. The Subject observes the Subject. In the other three states, the Subject can only observe objects. The fourth state of consciousness, which occurs during meditation, is scientifically confirmed, since it has its own particular physiology, which differentiates it from the other three states.

Aware that the product alone is no longer at the heart of the market, banks are entering a context of heightened competition, while at the same time working around a new issue: the customer as king. The customer makes rational consumer choices based on his or her expectations and needs. What's more, the trend towards optimizing company costs also greatly favors customer loyalty, since it's five times more expensive to win over a new customer than to retain an existing one. The logic is simple: gather as much information as possible about your customer, and listen to what they have to say in order to satisfy them and keep them for the long term. This information management requires a structural reorganization of the company in order to integrate the system, but also a shared commitment to making it optimal.

This book was developed with the aim of analysing the hydraulic situation of a drip hose from a rural property after 6 and 12 months of use. The experiment was conducted in a protected environment belonging to the Irrigation and Drainage Engineering Laboratory (LEID) of the Federal University of Campina Grande (UFCG), located in the municipality of Campina Grande - PB. The response of the emitters was analysed when they were subjected to five different service pressures (PS) (30, 50, 70, 90 and 110 kPa) and the use of phosphoric acid (H3PO4) as a corrective agent for unclogging, in six different dosages, based on the methodology proposed by Almeida (2010). The average flow rate, Coefficient of Uniformity of Application (CUD), Coefficient of Flow Variation (CVq) and Degree of Clogging (GE) were assessed.

The monograph is devoted to synthesis of new polymers, establishment of basic regularities of obtaining copolymers based on methyl methacrylate (MMA) with butyl methacrylate (BMA), methyl methacrylate with acrylic acid (AA), terpolymer based on methyl methacrylate, 2 - ethylhexyl acrylate (2-EHA) and methacrylic acid (MAA) in the presence of DAK by radical copolymerization. In this connection, the solution of the problem of obtaining environmentally safe quick-drying solvent-free paints (not containing organic solvents) with improved performance characteristics of industrial purpose is relevant in the field of creation of paint and varnish materials. In Kazakhstan due to the sharply continental type of climate and complex hydrogeological situation, waterproofing protection of buildings and structures is a necessary measure. In this regard, the development of waterproofing paint and varnish coatings is relevant. Co- and terpolymers were used for preparation of syrups and paints, then their physical and mechanical properties and their influence on the properties of paints were studied.

The purpose of this study was to conceive a new way of approaching the laboratory in Biology with a constructivist vision in General Secondary Education, therefore, the main challenge of the study was focused on reviewing the teachers' didactic conception and the way Biology is being taught in the L.N.Dr. Pedro Manuel Arcaya and Dr. Carlos Diez del Ciervo. As for the methodology, the interpretative paradigm was used, with a qualitative approach, the selected method was the phenomenological one, assuming Heidegger's postulates to understand the principles and foundations of this community of teachers. The techniques used to collect the information were in-depth interviews and participant observation, and the analysis was carried out through grounded theory, in its two dimensions, the Continuous Comparison Method (CQM) and Theoretical Sampling (TM). In addition to the structuring, contrasting, triangulation and theorization proper to qualitative research.

The word paradigm has been widely used, especially after its debut by the philosopher Thomas S. Khun in his book "The structure of scientific revolutions published in 1962". Paradigms are the different theories applied in scientific research, i.e., paradigms in research are a mixture of the researcher's own philosophical currents and orientations applied to the needs of the search for truth with veracity in scientific research regardless of the academic level or discipline. The paradigms that are addressed in this document for didactic purposes for the understanding by the academic and student community of undergraduate and graduate students respectively are: Positivist, Positivist, Critical, Socio-Critical, Constructivist, Phenomenological, Ethnomethodological, Cognitive, Environmentalist, Interpretive, Explanatory, Rationalist, Empirical, Logical, Pragmatic, Social Historical and the Paradigm of Scientific Revolutions. In conclusion, paradigms are a tool that allows the search for truth from various contexts and disciplines.

This research is aimed at proposing a theoretical approach to enhance knowledge on women's empowerment in agriculture. This topic is of great importance because in all societies there are inequalities produced by differences in roles and opportunities between men and women. This study is based on a qualitative paradigm, in addition to the fact that the research can be of great help for a better understanding of the phenomenon and can be assumed as a working tool in the studies of agrarian female empowerment.
