This interesting book is the result of a research that emerged from a problem perceived in an educational institution referred to the fact that managers exercise a traditional leadership, characterized by authoritarianism and coercion, not very close to the characteristics of a transformational leadership so necessary for the change that organizations demand in these postmodern times. Scientific verification led the researcher to carry out this descriptive inquiry, supported by a field study, in which a Likert format instrument was used. The results showed that in general, the managers of the institution under study present serious weaknesses in their performance as transformational leaders as agents of change, prepared to positively modify the organizational culture through the five basic actions studied: communication, motivation, consensual decision making, conflict management and delegation of functions; therefore, they need to transform themselves for the good of the organization. Hence the recommendations formulated in the research.

Digitalization affects all areas of life and is now essential for companies to enable sustainable competitiveness. The shortage of skilled workers in the hotel industry, the Covid-19 pandemic and changing guest expectations have driven the implementation of digital applications. This book deals with the use of digital applications in the reception and service area with the aim of supporting employees in completing recurring administrative tasks and thus being able to offer them more time for guest service again. An online survey of business guests of the harry's home hotels hotel group determined what wishes and requirements this target group has for digitalization in the hotel. In addition, corresponding recommendations for action for the hotel industry were derived from five expert interviews. This research showed that personal contact is still crucial and that digital solutions should be implemented slowly, with a comprehensive communication strategy and as an alternative option.

The link of chess with other spheres of social life is more than evident and grows as the different fields expand and diversify in pedagogy. For example, the use of chess as a didactic tool has become fashionable, so to speak, to work on the cognitive abilities of children. Many countries have already included chess as part of the initial training curriculum, but since centuries ago chess has been part of the cultural environment in many countries and regions. In medieval times it was considered one of the seven virtues that knights should have. Its ludic aspect as a board game together with others such as dice, cards, etc. was part of a variety of activities that were frequently practiced. Many important figures in politics, the arts, scientists, educators, among others, frequently played this game, making it part of their routine and one of their favorite jobs. In this book we intend to make a modest compilation of some of these characters that in some way helped to promote chess.

A series of crises in the Central African Republic has led to large-scale movements of people and goods in and out of the country. In Cameroon, some 30,000 refugees are currently settled in the eastern regions. The presence of these refugees raises the problem of access to land for the construction of shelters and the agricultural practices essential to their survival. With this in mind, how do migratory movements encourage the acquisition of land for the installation of refugee sites? This study attempts to answer this question, based on the hypothesis that migratory movements encourage the creation of new refugee camps, following a fairly strict process for selecting sites to house refugees. The aim of this study is to show how migratory movements are a factor in the creation of refugee sites. The theory of institutionalism, which is one of the key theories of our work, highlights the participation of international and national institutions in the smooth running of the international system.

From the second half of the 20th century onwards, the revolution initiated by modern art at the end of the previous century, which consisted in breaking the codes of traditional Western art, was continued by contemporary artists (from 1945 onwards). Contemporary art soon conquered the whole world. In Africa, it was introduced in the first half of the 20th century through schools opened or run by Western artists in the service of the colonial administration. It is therefore a legacy of colonization. African artists, however, have not hesitated to visit their own cultural heritages while using the mediums and techniques of contemporary art. Niger is no exception to this rule. It attempts to explain how this painting, whose first attempts date back to the 1960s, like everywhere else on the continent, owes a great deal to Westerners: almost all the painters were either discovered or trained by Western cultural cooperation. In Niger, as in other African countries, contemporary painting is a legacy of colonization.

Reading a literary text in the light of the simplistic operation of discovering a meaning, the one invested by the author. We need to move on from a phenotext to a genotext. The former is reduced to the printed text characterized by a situated meaning: the formula. The latter, on the other hand, is a space open to an infinite number of meanings. Clearly, read as a genotext, Kourouma's latest novel opens the way to infinite meaning. Our reading has opened up two possibilities: first, an act of language with assertive illocutionary value, with a direction of adjustment from world to language. As a result, the conceptual project was to describe the execrable relations between the novel's communities, leading inexorably to a relentless war. Another possibility is that the text is an act of language with a directive illocutionary value. The message would be to lead human beings to open up viable intercultural spaces devoid of stereotypes and prejudice... To eradicate war from society is first to extirpate it from the hearts of members of all communities.

The development of democratic institutions since the 1990s has restructured the decision-making process of national diplomacy, generating the politicisation of foreign policy. The apex of the movement came during the Lula administration, given the divergent perceptions about the pragmatism/rightness or ideologisation/equivocation of Brazil's foreign conduct. Monitoring the debate is the aim of this paper, whose research focused on the different opinions expressed about the Lula government's international insertion project by various social sectors (bureaucrats linked to Itamaraty, academic researchers and journalists). The data collected shows that the politicisation of foreign policy is deepening and even affects sectors linked to the foreign policy decision-making process.

Be naked... But be slim, beautiful and tanned! Michael Foucault (1979) Michael Foucault said this more than thirty years ago, in an interview given by the French philosopher to Quel Corps? magazine. His conclusion is intrinsically linked to the concept of this project, a lingerie advertising campaign that aims to question beauty standards and contribute to changing the social representation of women in Brazilian society. The work consists of creating a campaign for a fictitious lingerie brand called "Maldita Lingerie". Inspired by the villains of the Disney studios, the campaign, which also bears the title "Maldita", uses characters from children's fairy tales as a reference and publicity strategy. The campaign is made up of a series of five videos. To do this, five models impersonate the villains from the films and give a performance that subtly criticises aesthetic standards and reveals the sensuality of singular beauty. The aim is to sell a product linked to the cult of the female body, while at the same time questioning the ideal body and the social representation of women. Is this possible?

The reality of our society is that there is a need for all of us to incorporate physical activity, exercise and sports into our lives, at moderate and intense levels, as well as frequently, at least five to six times a week. And we should take conscious and committed care of our daily diet. The benefits of these two habits have enormous benefits for our current and long-term health, with a direct impact on quality of life.Reflecting on the consequences of sedentary lifestyles allows us to understand risks such as overweight and obesity, and their relationship with other chronic non-communicable diseases, so it was thought important that this will address the basics on food and sports nutrition to understand, formulate and monitor food plans for athletes in order to improve their performance.

Maternal, newborn and child health (MNCH) is currently a major concern and a priority on the agenda of all the world's governments, including that of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).With over half a million maternal deaths worldwide each year from complications related to pregnancy and childbirth, maternal mortality remains a worrying public health issue in developing countries. The high maternal mortality ratio is associated with a generalized HIV/AIDS epidemic. The death of a child is a real problem for future parents, and the disappearance of a newborn immediately after birth, or in the days that follow, leaves parents disappointed in a new role with new tasks and skills, and plunges the family into a process of mourning.

Honey is considered a highly complex biological compound, endowed with a great diversity of properties, both nutritional and therapeutic. It is a foodstuff produced by honeybees from nectar or honeydew. In Benin, it is mainly produced in the north and sold in pharmacies, supermarkets, small stores in big cities, village markets and even at home. Much of the current research interest focuses on the study of antioxidant molecules of natural origin. The aim of our work is firstly to carry out a physicochemical study by determining pH, and secondly to carry out a phytochemical study by determining polyphenols in our honey samples collected in northern Benin.

The project to build the deepwater port of Banana in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) is pitted against the Road-Rail Bridge project linking Kinshasa (DRC) and Brazzaville (Republic of Congo). Although both projects have political, economic, environmental and social impacts, the analysis developed in this book supports the priority of the Banana port. It highlights its inclusive nature, promoting the national sovereignty of the DRC and benefiting not only the DRC as a whole, but also Central Africa. The construction of the Banana deepwater port would accelerate national integration, thus preserving the sovereignty and economic independence of the Democratic Republic of Congo. By comparison, a road-rail bridge between Kinshasa and Brazzaville would further promote regional integration in the DRC. This book also highlights the competitiveness of the port of Banana in relation to that of Pointe-Noire.

Enamel anomalies affect the structure of dental tissues. Whether genetically conditioned or acquired, they remain rare diseases. These enamel anomalies exist as isolated entities, or are associated with the clinical picture as part of syndromes; these affections are correlated with the stage of development and biological processes underlying odontogenesis since the embryological origin of dental cells, Amelogenesis imperfecta is a rare hereditary genetic pathology, generally affecting the enamel of both temporary and permanent dentitions, . It affects the structure of the enamel, and these alterations may be either limited to the teeth, and thus called non-syndromic, or associated with anomalies of other systems, and thus called syndromic. Tooth shape and volume are affected, characterized by brittle enamel and normal dentine structure. Today, due to its highly heterogeneous nature (extremely variable macroscopic appearance), this pathology poses many diagnostic and management problems for many practitioners.

The study focuses on the socialisation of girls and boys in early childhood education, assessing the construction and reproduction of gender roles in a school in the interior of Rio Grande do Sul. The approach adopted examines how the teaching staff understands the concept of gender and manages issues related to gender and sexuality in the socialisation of girls and boys (aged 5 to 8). The theoretical-methodological contributions necessary for this investigation consist of reviewing the concepts of gender and childhood from a feminist perspective, thus articulating the knowledge produced within the scope of Gender Studies with the theoretical bases of the Sociology of Education. The use of gender as an analytical category is essential for the study in question, since it allows for a particular reflection on the differentiated practices and discourses applied to the education of girls and boys, nuances that would not be detected without the proper appropriation of this concept. This interpretative framework problematises the socialisation of children from the point of view of the relations of power and domination that run through them, promoting conformity to gender meanings transmitted by bodies such as the family, church and school.

The issue of land conflicts linked to cashew nut cultivation is currently at the heart of debates in Côte d'Ivoire. Introduced into Ivorian agriculture in 1960, cashew acreage is growing rapidly, particularly in the country's central and northern regions. Indeed, the Bodokro sub-prefecture is one of the localities where this crop is booming, with an estimated area of 4,725.27 ha in 2021. This dynamic can be explained by favorable natural and human conditions. However, this crop, which is supposed to reduce poverty levels in the Bodokro sub-prefecture, is a source of various land conflicts between the different stakeholders. The aim of this study is to analyze the emergence of land conflicts surrounding the growth of cashew nut cultivation in the Bodokro sub-prefecture. To carry out this study, the methodology involved field observation and interviews with administrative and customary authorities. A questionnaire survey addressed to a sample of 307 farmers in ten villages of the Sous-préfecture. In addition, the results of the research show that the interest

This study deals with the implementation of the restorative justice paradigm in São Paulo's public schools and is based on the perspective of the School and Community Mediator Teacher. The aim is to investigate and reflect on the public policy nature of this movement, how the PMEC understands this process from their own professional work and how they assess the receptiveness of the school community to a model of dealing with conflicts based on dialogue and co-responsibility as opposed to punitive methods and principles traditionally employed in schools. The research followed a qualitative methodology through semi-structured interviews in a priori categories, which revealed a high level of personal support and involvement on the part of the PMEC with the implementation of the restorative justice paradigm, as well as distrust and uncertainty regarding the continuity of this public policy on the part of the state government and the support of the school community as a whole. In the end, we came to the conclusion that, in fact, there is a movement towards discontinuity and de-characterisation of this public policy.

Tomatoes are widely consumed throughout the world and their successful cultivation depends largely on the use of quality seedlings. Seedling production often uses substrates, which vary in their capacity to supply nutrients, and fertilisation is necessary. One of the major problems is Zn deficiency, which is commonly associated with high P fertilisation. In order to study the effect of substrate enrichment, continuous fertilisation and the interaction with phosphorus and zinc on the development of tomato seedlings, a greenhouse experiment was conducted and the results of this work are compiled in this book.

In broad terms, the establishment of a scientific and technological agenda is a state management intentionality around which a conflict or difference with society is settled. In this sense, academia is subject to the evaluative guidelines of the quality of its processes and products. As a state-sponsored institution, the public university follows the agenda to the letter, but at the same time, it undertakes the training of talents that the state hopes to institutionalise as leaders of opinion and knowledge. The aim of this paper is to discuss the central axes and themes of the agenda in order to demonstrate the formation of talent through academic entrepreneurship and the incubation of leadership. A documentary study was carried out with a selection of sources indexed in leading Latin American repositories such as Dialnet, Latindex and Redalyc. Lines of research on entrepreneurship in terms of the establishment of the scientific and technological agenda can be seen.

This book identifies teachers' perceptions of the teacher-student relationship based on indicators of conflict and affinity, relating them to the variables of academic performance, age and gender of the students and teachers. A cross-sectional correlational study was carried out with 10 secondary school teachers from a state public school, who assessed 10 students using the Teacher-Student Relationship Scale (ERPA). The results suggest that female teachers tend to have greater affinity with female students and conflictual relationships with male students. When correlating the academic performance variable with the affinity and conflict indicators, there was a weak positive correlation between the conflict indicator and academic performance in Philosophy. However, in Geography, there is also a weak positive correlation, but with the affinity indicator.

The aim of this study was to analyse the permanence of students entering in 2011/01 on the undergraduate accounting course at UNEMAT's Cáceres Campus, from a quantitative and qualitative research perspective. Firstly, we analysed the historical situation of the students in order to trace their academic flow. To do this, we analysed the transcripts of 41 students entering the class under study, which were made available by the Academic System. Secondly, we applied a questionnaire to analyse their opinions on permanence. The results showed that only 22% of the students were able to complete the course in the minimum time required to complete it, 22% were held back, 2% withdrew, 10% transferred and 44% dropped out. The main causes of evasion and retention are related to socio-economic, learning and pedagogical issues. We can see from the profile of the subjects that the admission policies are being implemented satisfactorily, catering for all genders, colours and social classes. The high level of evasion and retention demonstrates the need to implement student permanence policies.

The aim of our research was to show the effect of commercial strategy on the commercial performance of cooperative societies in the far north of Cameroon. To carry out this study, we opted for a qualitative approach, conducting semi-directive interviews with cooperative company promoters and MINADER (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development) staff. After analyzing the data, we found that most cooperatives do not have strategic documents setting out their short-, medium- and long-term objectives. This makes it difficult to talk about performance, and traditional indicators such as changes in sales volume, turnover or market share are not adapted to the particularities of farming operations.

Bariatric surgery has shown effective and well-established results in the fight against the obesity pandemic. However, there are still few studies evaluating prognostic factors in the success of surgical treatment for obesity. Recently, studies have described that Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is directly related to obesity and the greater difficulty in losing weight with clinical treatment. This study aims to begin analyzing the possible negative effects of ADHD on the success of bariatric surgery.

Oral cancer is the fifth most common type of malignant neoplasm worldwide. The best-known risk factors for the development of this lesion are tobacco, alcoholism, papillomavirus infections and, more recently, the use of pesticides, substances considered carcinogenic to human health. In the study presented in this book, we evaluated the occurrence of 132 cases of squamous cell carcinoma of the mouth in a public laboratory in the state of Mato Grosso using georeferencing from 2005 to 2011, profiling the cases according to gender, age and year of diagnosis. The cases evaluated came from 49 municipalities, with the most significant originating in Cuiabá, Várzea Grande and Rondonópolis. It was possible to conclude that the data evaluated did not allow us to find a cause and effect relationship between squamous cell carcinoma of the mouth and pesticide use.
