Spinoza reveals to us his fundamental ethical interest, which guides the whole of Spinoza's philosophy. I will take a brief look at part I of the Ethics, specifically with regard to his definition of God and Nature, and part II of the Ethics, with regard to the Mind or Soul, if you prefer. This journey is necessary so that the reader can better understand his extremely complex, yet very clear and distinct philosophy. As you might expect, in the course of the text we will make associations or disassociations with Cartesian philosophy, since Spinoza was an assiduous reader of René Descartes and evidently his philosophy has a Cartesian reference.

Depression is a multifactorial illness that, according to the World Health Organisation, affects more than 300 million people worldwide. It is highly incapacitating and in its worst case scenario leads to suicide and death. The pathophysiology of depressive disorder has a number of theories such as mono aminergic, inflammatory and neurotrophin. This work is based on the latter, more precisely on one of the neurotrophins, brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF). BDNF in its mature form acts on Trk¿ receptors, promoting neuronal survival, long- and short-term potentiation and hippocampal neurogenesis. While its immature form, proBDNF, acts on p75NTR receptors, promoting long- and short-term depression and apoptosis. The use of antidepressants can potentiate the expression of BDNF, so we hypothesised that there is evidence in favour of using BDNF as a diagnostic or prognostic marker. To verify this hypothesis, we carried out a systematic review and meta-analysis, using the largest secondary database (PubMed) as a source.

The issue of citizen participation in the process of governance for local development is something that has been addressed since Mozambique's independence in 1975 and the adoption of the system of democratic governance by the then government. However, it was only after the approval of the Constitution of the Republic in 1990 that this participation began to be strongly emphasised, especially with the first Presidential and Legislative elections in 1994, and strengthened with the introduction of Municipal governance in the country in 1998. With these landmark events, there began to be an increase in citizen participation in the governance process, especially with regard to local development, since this model of governance presupposes the inclusion of the people in the decision-making process in all aspects of people's lives. This study, carried out in the municipal town of Ribáuè, therefore aims to show the forms and importance of citizen participation in the governance process for local development. And with it, the author aims to contribute to solidifying the spirit of this model of governance with a view to the common good.

A descriptive, exploratory, prospective and qualitative study, the scenario to be studied corresponded to pregnant adolescent victims of domestic violence attended to at the National Maternal and Perinatal Institute. Eighteen adolescent pregnant women attended to in the adolescence service participated in this study; they were given the social production and reproduction profile form and an in-depth interview guide. For the data analysis, the interviews were recorded and transcribed, applying the data analysis carried out through content analysis for subsequent categorisation, based on the decoding of data captured in the testimonies.

This work studied how production planning and control is carried out in red ceramics organisations, seeking to identify, describe and analyse the type of production system and the production planning and control methods and techniques adopted by these organisations. The ceramics industries are significant for Rondônia, thanks to their importance in the state's economic development. This research is considered to be applied in nature and descriptive in classification. The approach used was qualitative and quantitative. Data was collected using a questionnaire/semi-structured interview. The research was carried out in red ceramics companies in the cities of Cacoal/RO and Pimenta Bueno/RO.

In the new paradigm of school management, the management that is intended to be installed in educational institutions is oriented towards the improvement of results, articulating decision-making processes and fundamentally enriching pedagogical practices. Management is conceived as a participative and integral process that articulates all the necessary mechanisms to achieve institutional objectives; it is a management where educational processes take place that cross all the actions and spaces of the organization, organizational processes that make possible or not a teaching and learning with certain characteristics. Within this framework, existing relationships are changed and a new meaning is given to the role of the principal and that of the teachers in a new dynamic. The figure of the principal is redefined within the framework of the management team and shares a policy that arises from basic agreements. This management team, chaired by the principal, becomes the natural animator of the changes needed by the school and the fundamental responsible for its results.

To determine the clinical and radiographic effectiveness of CTZ paste compared with modified Guedes Pinto (GPM) used in pulp necrosis in children from 3 to 6 years of age of the Pediatric Dentistry Service of the Hipólito Unánue National Hospital. Experimental, longitudinal and prospective study. Forty-eight children aged 3 to 6 years were evaluated, obtaining 56 deciduous teeth with a diagnosis of pulp necrosis. Pulpectomy treatment was performed and the distribution of the groups was randomized. Twenty-seven teeth were obturated with CTZ paste and 29 teeth with GPM paste. To determine the effectiveness of the pastes, clinical and radiographic controls were performed at two, eight and sixteen weeks. The data were processed through the SPSS v.15.0 statistical program using Fisher's chi-square and exact tests, at a confidence level of 95%. This paper points out that Piaget's theory establishes that the construction of knowledge is not formed in a linear relationship, but in a circular and spiral one, which goes in increasing complexity and is elaborated from the simple to the profound. Through knowledge, reversible structures are achieved, which allow the adaptation of the subject to the environment. At present, Piaget's genetic epistemology has revolutionized the forms of experimental research and its application has been effective in different fields such as: basic education, special education, psychiatry and children's clinic; establishing that the explanation of the structure of knowledge must be sought in the activity of man, as a relationship of an organized social, individual and biological whole, since man is an initial product of biology and later of more developed and modified structures, as a result of his social interaction.

The different currents that integrate clinical institutional psychosociology, in which the author's professional practice is inscribed, have the purpose of accompanying subjects and groups in the search for a better understanding of the phenomena causing their discomfort and suffering in the working environments. In the process of collective reflection promoted by the devices implemented in the field, the subjects will analyze the multiple factors that intervene in the social facts, always complex, that they relate, which will allow them to decide together and carry out the necessary transformations. This joint work of interpretation of reality gives rise to the development of conceptualizations that mean a contribution to the development of scientific knowledge. Given that from this perspective the relationship between field practice and theoretical elaboration is inseparable, the author proposes to characterize her practice as that of an intervention-research, or a research-intervention.

Pibes Rodando: We are not dangerous, we are in danger! is a socio-educational and cultural communication project that emerged in 2008 as a result of the need of a group of teenagers living in the La Cava slum to speak out and express themselves. The project arose within the framework of the Communication and Youth Rights Workshop developed by Asociación Civil Empleo Joven (ACEJ), a social organization that since 2003 has been promoting spaces for participation so that communities in vulnerable situations can fully exercise their rights to education and work. Pibes Rodando is a contribution to the democratization of access to education and communication as essential pillars of human development; it represents a tool that conveys the voice of young people in the cultural battle for the ideas that circulate socially; Pibes Rodando is a humble criticism to the mass media that build the image of the poor youth related to violence and insecurity, deepening stigmatization and social discrimination. For these young people, Pibes Rodando is not only a community cinema experience: it is "THEIR" reality.

Infectious diseases are divided into two categories: community-acquired and nosocomial (or hospital-acquired) infections. Today, however, the multiplication of care pathways and care providers, as well as the diversification of care establishments and structures, provide an increasingly important opportunity for the spread of these infections. Dental caries is the world's third most prevalent disease, and the world's leading community-acquired infectious disease. Oral and dental pathologies are at the origin of several infections of the facial mass, many of which may be associated with dental care.Our work assesses the role of healthcare-associated infections in dentistry, and proposes recommendations for limiting them.

This study proposed the use of kaolin from Juazeirinho, in the state of Paraíba, as a source of aluminium and silicon for the production of zeolite 4A from a hydrothermal reaction, where the synthesis procedure consisted of the thermal activation of the kaolin, which was subjected in a mulfla to a temperature of 850°C for 2 hours to become metakaolin; 3g of this metakaolin obtained was added to a Teflon/aluminium container along with 30mL of a 1.25 mols/L NaOH solution, and this system was placed in an oven at 150°C for 4 hours at autogenous pressure for the hydrothermal reaction to form zeolite 4A. The resulting material was centrifuged and washed with deionised water to a pH close to 7.0, and then dried in an oven at 100°C for approximately 15 hours. The XRD results showed that the kaolin from Juazeirinho consists mainly of kaolinite. The data from the removal tests determined by ICP-OES suggest that zeolite 4A has good adsorption capacity. The results showed that the Langmuir model is more appropriate than the Freundlich model for fitting the experimental data.

Fortunately, the advance in the sophistication of the available complementary diagnostic methods, such as magnetic resonance imaging, has gradually allowed a greater certainty in the diagnoses and therapeutics used. All this has generated the need for new therapeutic alternatives complementary to traditional treatments, and thus physiotherapy is gradually becoming an important integral part of the treatment. For the professional, the ultimate goal is usually the rehabilitation of the patient. The goal for most owners is simply for their pet to have the best quality of life. It is our obligation as professionals to practice our profession in pursuit of this goal. Thus arose the need to write this book, whose reading will be useful for both professionals and students.

It is not by chance that one of our main teaching objectives has been to make sure that students understand the practical usefulness of the contents, and a group of them have written their research, still small, but very illustrative of what they have learned in the aforementioned subject. School violence is an indicator that is present at the High School level. It is the responsibility of the educational authorities to prevent or, failing that, to abate this situation that leads to a loss of values that generates unethical attitudes, psychological and emotional imbalance, physical damage and, consequently, low school performance of students. Currently it has been called bullying, but since the 70's in various countries of the first world has identified the increase of violence and has been diagnosed as a social phenomenon, which has been cultivated and intensified in the educational environment. The Autlán Regional High School and the Juchitlán Module of the Tecolotlán Regional High School are no strangers to this problem and the concern has arisen to investigate the scope of this situation that affects the integral development of students. From both institutions, the study sample consists of two first grade groups in the afternoon shift, with a total of 71 students, 36 male and 35 female. The methodology is of mixed modality.

Given the need to define sustainability in agricultural cropping systems, we sought to understand and apply a simple methodology for analysing sustainability in different agricultural systems on a rural property in the north-east of Pará. The agro-ecosystems studied were an Agroforestry System, a Conventional Cassava Cultivation System, a Pasture System and the Forest Ecosystem, with the aim of analysing their sustainability, comparing and relating the levels of sustainability using predetermined indicators in tables and questioning the farmer.

This study presents data from historical research that aims to contribute to the analysis of representations of female profiles in the 1920s to 1940s, based on the dialogue with characters created by the writer Monteiro Lobato in some of his children's books from the same period. In this study, which is part of the field of the history of education, the main documentary corpus is literary material, which is why it was necessary to approach cultural history, the history of print and microhistory. At first, the interference of technological and cultural innovations in the trajectory of the intellectual Monteiro Lobato is emphasised. Furthermore, in an interdisciplinary way, through bibliographical research, the study looks at the concept of modernity, which made it possible to understand the relationship between Lobato's fictional writing and women's discourses and practices from the same period. It was observed that the characters' characterisations presented modernity as linked mainly to cultural media, technological artefacts and the educational debate of the 1920s-1940s.

This book brings together two research papers on rural women's participation in agroecology (in Latin America) and water management (in rural communities in Nicaragua). Currently, the exploitation of natural resources and the increase in environmental pollution have created the need to utilise co-products and low value-added fish species to develop high value-added products. Many studies are using underutilised species to obtain myofibrillar proteins, protein isolates and hydrolysates, which can be considered high added value products. Fish protein isolates have shown good functional properties for application in different food formulas and also in the preparation of hydrolysates, as they reduce the content of pro-oxidising compounds that can affect their stability. These processes can result in protein hydrolysates with good bioactive properties, such as antimicrobial, antioxidant and anticancer properties, among others. Proteins have biologically active peptides, which are inactive within the protein sequence but can be released during processes such as enzymatic hydrolysis.

In daily practice, mental health professionals working with children and adolescents are faced with the responsibility of recognising and managing psychiatric symptoms of organic origin, with diagnosable physiopathology and aetiology by means of a clinical examination and appropriate complementary studies. The patient's evolution and prognosis depend on timely and specific diagnosis and treatment. Taylor's book The Principles of Scientific Management. The basic approach of this study, which is among the situational perspectives - which is part of the Contingency approach - is the Situational Leadership Theory, proposed by Hersey and Blanchard, which is the result of this evolution of studies on the subject of leadership. For these authors, the success model is achieved by choosing the right leadership style related to the level of maturity (or readiness) of the team members in a given situation, i.e. a theory with a central focus on those being led.

The irrational use of water resources has caused its scarcity at a global, national and local level, being this a vital element in the development of the planet and therefore in the life of human beings. The main objective of this work was the design of an educational strategy to promote the conservation of water resources in primary school children of the Bolivarian Educational Unit Samuel Robinson, Venezuela. After researching the antecedents on this subject, a set of theoretical and legal bases were described to support the research. In order to achieve the proposed objective, a descriptive and feasible project methodology was used, with a documentary, field and experimental design, using a questionnaire, direct observation and informal interview. The subjects that represented the population were 93 students of the second stage (5th and 6th) of primary education of the institution. Upon analyzing the results, it was concluded that the implementation of audiovisual and artistic educational strategies promotes significant learning in the students.

In studies carried out in several Swine Genetic Centers, through the diagnosis made, that do not use a Cost System that allows the entity to adequately cost the swine production. The general objective of this research is to design a cost system for swine production. All this is due to the need to determine the costs of each category of this type of animal, assessing the economic and financial feasibility of the proposal designed and the results obtained with its application. The cost of feed consumption by mass variation, the calculation of medicines and other cost elements involved in the production process are obtained. The evaluation of the total cost by cost elements is carried out, which resulted in the fact that the category with the highest cost is the piglets and piglets that are sold as genetic animals. Different methods and techniques have been used for the development of this evaluation, among which we can mention: interviews, direct observation and financial techniques, thus arriving at conclusions and recommendations of interest for the administration in terms of cost management.
