Hypertension causes varying degrees of disability and a reduction in life expectancy. The contribution of occupation as a risk factor in hypertension has been understood to be associated with "psychological factors" or "psychosocial factors" that generate stress. Official statistics do not include informal work, which is increasingly common in Brazil's major capitals. A prevalence study was carried out among street vendors in two areas of the city of Rio de Janeiro: Largo da Carioca and Largo de Machado. The aim of the study was to describe the main social variables of these professionals, measure the blood pressure of these workers and compare the social and physical data of the street vendors and peddlers in the two regions studied. 142 professionals were interviewed. The street vendors had higher blood pressure levels than the street vendors, but this difference was not statistically significant. The difference in blood pressure levels between the two areas was significant p=01639. The odds ratio was 2.275482094.

Although Federal Law No. 7.661/1988 provides that states can legally institute coastal management plans, more than 30 years have passed since that law was enacted and the state of Rio de Janeiro still does not have a specific law on the subject. Bill 216/2011, which aims to establish the Rio de Janeiro State Coastal Management Plan, is currently being processed by the Rio de Janeiro State Legislative Assembly, and it is possible to identify many opportunities for improvement in its text, which could incorporate lessons learned from practical experience of coastal management in Rio de Janeiro and elsewhere. This research assessed the status of implementation of coastal management actions in the state of Rio de Janeiro using the Decalogue for the Management of Coastal Areas. The results of this diagnosis enabled recommendations to be put forward to support a review of Bill 216/2011.

This book aims to investigate David Hestenes' Modeling Theory and its application in physics classes. Modeling Theory considers that people create mental models to plan and to guide their interactions with the real world. However, mental models created from everyday life experiences are generally incompatible with the conceptual models of school. Thus, it is argued that the fundamental problem in learning and understanding in science and mathematics is coordinating mental models with conceptual models. Based on the empirical results, it is possible to conclude that Modelling Theory has important implications for the classroom, especially for organizing subject content around general models, for using different representations to communicate thoughts and actions and for encouraging discussions and debates between groups of students. However, it was found that its application demands some challenges, especially in choosing problems that can be modeled and in carrying out investigations.

The book tries to establish a relationship between the individual competence installed in the company and the organisation's performance. This is not an easy study to carry out in a law firm, which usually grows according to demand. In this specific case, individual competences were installed prior to the existence of legal demands in such a way that it was possible to find a relationship between these variables. A single study does not create a rule, but it does open up the possibility of new studies being conducted in search of this correlation, which could be an important contribution to knowledge-intensive companies in general.

After sixty years of French colonial rule (1893-1960), Côte d'Ivoire gained its independence on 7 August 1960, with a heterogeneous population made up of some sixty different peoples. Nothing predisposed these peoples to a "common destiny" before colonisation. During the first three decades of independence, the policy of national integration adopted by Félix Houphouët-Boigny and the traditions of these peoples fostered relative political and social stability, conducive to national unity. However, since the death of Houphouët-Boigny, Côte d'Ivoire has plunged into an unprecedented social fracture linked mainly to political and inter-ethnic conflicts and the coup d'état of 1999. How did this country, long recognised as a political, economic and social model in an Africa in crisis, become a veritable social fracture after the death of President Félix Houphouët-Boigny? This book invites Ivorians, then Africans and other peoples of the world, to understand the necessity of the issue of national integration in post-colonial African states, in general, and in Côte d'Ivoire, in particular.

Floods in Brazil are becoming increasingly frequent and intense, posing a challenge to populations and government officials who are facing environmental, social and technical obstacles in an attempt to reduce their impact. Many people in Brazil are exposed to conditions of vulnerability that increase the impact of floods, combining social, environmental, political, economic and cultural aspects. This characteristic of floods in vulnerable contexts makes it difficult to separate what is natural from what is social in this type of event. I dedicate this work to all the families, men and women, children and young people who have lost their relatives, their homes, their belongings and their well-being, both psychological and material, due to the floods. I hope that all the suffering they have experienced will serve as an incentive for a worldwide mobilization to rescue solidarity, human ethics and the eco-sustainable development of our planet.

The aim of this research is to compare two architectural project representation software packages, AutoCAD as an example of 2D two-dimensional representation technology and Revit as an example of BIM technology, with an emphasis on drawing execution time. After conceptualising the CAD system and the BIM system, the historical context in which these platforms developed was observed and, based on the information gathered and the interpretations of the authors cited, the hypothesis that Revit is the most efficient platform was evaluated in a practical way. Speculatively, data was collected from offices that use both technologies. If AutoCAD is the evolution of the drawing board, Revit would be the evolution of the model, understandable from all angles, modifiable according to the relationships between joint elements and comprehensible through geometry as the end result of an intelligent parametric model.

Bits and pieces of commercial rodenticide pellets arrive at the laboratory of the Paraná Institute of Criminalistics from foods such as coffee and tea. Therefore, methods for determining their active ingredients, which are mainly coumarin derivatives, are indispensable in forensic investigations. However, commercial products have a low concentration of these compounds in their composition, which makes their analysis difficult. The aim of this study was to develop a method for extracting the coumarin brodifacoum from commercial samples and determining it using high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) with a diode array detector (DAD). The extraction was carried out at the Federal Technological University of Paraná (UTFPR) Ecoville headquarters and the rest of the analysis at the chemical and biological sciences laboratory of the forensic medical institute (IML) in Curitiba. A methodology was presented for determining brodifacoum in commercial rodenticide pelleted baits that requires less than 10 mg without extensive cleaning steps. The proposed method proved to be satisfactory and is currently used by the Paraná Criminalistics Institute.

Waste management is a highly topical issue. It is the subject of numerous scientific debates and publications around the world, but it is also a subject of everyday life in an urban environment. Here, we are confronted with waste management in the home, as well as in the workplace, symbolised by the mountains of open rubbish in wastelands and certain public squares. Poor waste management leads to pollution of the natural environment and nuisance. In general, hospitals should be clean and hygienic. These two essential characteristics of the hospital can be compromised by the waste produced by medical staff during their work in the consulting room, wards, laboratory, maternity ward, etc. Poor management of this waste poses risks to human health. It is therefore in our interest to treat it appropriately in terms of handling, packaging, storage and disposal, in the light of the legislation to which nursing staff must refer.

The indiscriminate use of pesticides is a serious public health problem. The fast-growing Brazilian market for these products contributes to the country being considered the world leader in the consumption of these substances. The number of people exposed to the harmful effects of pesticides on their health is high, as is the environmental damage. In tobacco farming, farmers are at risk of poisoning from these poisons and from the nicotine in the tobacco leaf. Brazil is one of the world's largest tobacco producers, a worrying fact given the number of people who frequently handle two products that are harmful to health. This book provides relevant information on the characteristics of tobacco farmers' exposure to nicotine and pesticides and the negative impacts on their health and the environment. It also presents data on tobacco production and the occupational profile of these rural workers, which can be used by health professionals in their practice of services with this group, especially in the adoption of technologies that favor the prevention of damage to health.

In this book, the dear reader will find a dedicated social-historical study of the implications of the culture of the Participation Movement for the (re)conception of the Brazilian Nursing Association (ABEn) and for the reforms of the association's statutes that took place in 1986 and 1988. The ABEn is the civil entity that represents the nursing profession in Brazil and Participation was a popular movement of workers and students who acted in the 1980s with a view to (re)democratizing the Association and making it more combative and independent. To tell this story, Antonio Gramsci's philosophical thinking on Cultural Hegemony was taken as a theoretical reference, so the book provides a brief review of the history of the ABEn and its Statute, a detailed narrative of the methodology used to construct the research, followed by explanations of Gramscian theory, culminating in an analysis of the Brazilian situation and the Association in the period studied and the implications of the Movement's ideology in the associative world. We hope to contribute to the ongoing process of (re)conceiving the ABEn and to strengthening the feeling of companionship among nursing professionals. Enjoy your studies!

The Oficina Livre de Música (Free Music Workshop), which as a proposal arose from a demand from the staff, users and family members of the Clarice Lispector Psychosocial Care Center (CAPS), located in the Engenho de Dentro neighborhood, in the northern suburbs of the city of Rio de Janeiro, as well as other members of civil society, aims to act as a popular education device and practice that triggers, maintains, enhances and multiplies new solidarity relationships, through activities, actions and meetings where sound is the catalyst, whether through experimentation and appreciation; or through the exchange and diversity of experiences that are built and/or expressed. Music thus becomes an instrument of acceptance and expression, through the construction, exchange and sharing of listenings. The workshop leader takes on the role of cultural mediator as a "music educator" (...).

The theme of this work is: "Religion and Education: traces of Kardecist Spiritist elements in the Religious Education curriculum proposed by the Montes Claros City Council and the Institutional Teaching Incentive Scholarship Programme/PIBID of the Religious Sciences course, based on the Permanent National Forum for Religious Education/FONAPER, in 2012 for 8th and 9th grade primary school classes." My interest in the subject was born when I started studying Religious Studies, and was strengthened in the Supervised Internship course, which revealed the horizon of the school field. It materialised in the light of the epistemology of the Sciences of Religion provided by the PIBID subproject of the Sciences of Religion course, entitled "Religious Education and Religious Diversity" in 2011. The aim was to evaluate the Religious Education curriculum proposals of the Montes Claros City Council and the PIBID subproject of the Religious Sciences course, based on Fonaper, in order to find out if there are elements of the Kardecist Spiritist Doctrine in these proposals.

This work is the result of the Supervised Curricular Internship in the Biological Sciences Degree Course at the Instituto Federal Farroupilha - Campus Júlio de Castilhos. As a token of my gratitude, I dedicate it to the management team of the following institutions: Frei Galvão Municipal Elementary School, Mãe de Deus State Institute of Education and the Farroupilha Federal Institute - Júlio de Castilhos Campus. I would also like to thank the following teachers: Josiana Scherer Bassan and Paulo Ricardo Weissbach for their attention and credibility. As a teacher, I corroborate the importance of having a condor vision of the educational environment, reaching new ideologies and building moments of meaningful learning. The internship is a time for exchanging knowledge and expertise, so I'd like to emphasise the need for differentiated initial and continuing training that is perennial! It is understandable that there are difficulties in writing an internship report, so much so that this book provides examples of how to write a report. However, trainees should be aware that their reports, derived from their experiences, have a unique and subjective character. Shall we try to understand the methodology of an internship report?

Quality of Life at Work (QWL) can be used to help organisations rebuild, recover and reinvigorate their multivariate work organisation designs and formats, with the aim of raising staff satisfaction levels and, consequently, increasing company productivity as a result of greater employee participation in the processes related to their work. To a certain extent, the term QWL has been used to describe a concern to rescue "humanistic and environmental values, which have been neglected in favour of technological progress, productivity and economic growth" (FERNANDES, 1996). This scientific collection covers studies with different perspectives on QWL, applied in the most varied organisational contexts and which were the fruit of research into Management, Behaviour and Organisational Competences, carried out by students on the Bachelor's Degree in Administration and Accounting, and Specialisation in Public Management.

Idiopathic epilepsy (IE) accounts for 20% of all epilepsies, but less than 1% of research into this disease. This imbalance reflects a lack of awareness of the diagnostic difficulties, especially in cases of late onset or atypical signs. We conducted a retrospective study including adults followed for AR. We identified the distinctive clinical and paraclinical criteria of the different syndromes in adults.EI-CGTC was the most frequent epileptic syndrome (78.7%), followed by EMJ (17.32%). Family history of epilepsy and clinical photosensitivity were more frequent in EMJ (p=0.01).Electroencephalographically, generalized intercritical abnormalities, photo-paroxysmal response and HPN-triggered electrical abnormalities were predominantly recorded during EMJ (p = 0.000, p < 0.05 and 0.001 respectively). Focal abnormalities were recorded during these 2 syndromes. Knowledge of the characteristics of AR syndromes could improve patient management and better guide subsequent epidemiological and genetic studies.

This text aims to understand the concepts of intelligence in the readings of the authors Henri Bergson and Jean Piaget, analysing the convergent and divergent points related to their theories. This analysis initially aims to describe the structure, functions, limits, development and origin of intelligence, insofar as they are the objects of research by each of these authors, against the backdrop of the question of creation. In fact, Bergson approaches intelligence as a mode of human action on the environment in which it is inserted, through the manufacture of objects that can enable and facilitate its action. In this sense, intelligence favours eminently practical action, initially determined by the interests of human survival. Piaget, for his part, draws attention to the fact that intelligence is a process in which we start from a lower level of knowledge to build a higher level of knowledge, in which the human being assimilates the stimuli provided by the environment and accommodates them, balancing and accommodating new knowledge with existing knowledge in a process called equilibration.

As a result of the technological revolution, archival practice and knowledge were faced with a paradigm shift from physical to digital documents. This process was so accentuated and vehement that it became the fifth most important milestone for archives in the 1980s. To this end, this research is bibliographical and qualitative. Its objective is descriptive and informative. The results point to the importance of the chain of custody in terms of maintaining the archival characteristics of digital documents. It explains the importance of drawing up the archival management tools, the Classification Plan and the Table of Temporality and Destination of Documents. It highlights Archivematica and Atom as the most widespread archival repository and access platform, respectively, in Brazil and internationally. It advocates the influence of the archivist-researcher in terms of their work, since the publication of case study materials undeniably contributes to the construction of knowledge and the sharing of ideas, expectations and any points of friction that may occur when it comes to practical application.

This book is dedicated to the topic of math anxiety in primary school. In addition to the definition of math anxiety, possible triggering factors for this anxiety are listed. "Boys are talented in math and girls in German." - This stereotype is not an isolated case, which is why one chapter deals with the topic of math anxiety and gender. A large part of the thesis is dedicated to essential influencing factors and possible conditions for success for anxiety-free and gender-equitable mathematics lessons. The aim of this master's thesis was to find out what experiences primary school teachers have with math anxiety, what causes can lead to math anxiety and how teachers can design anxiety-free and gender-equitable lessons. In addition to a detailed theoretical section, this work also includes a specially conducted empirical study. Based on interviews with primary school teachers, many new insights were gained that should help educators to teach mathematics in a contemporary way.

This book presents effective techniques for interpreting literary works. The latter being a plural object deserves various analyses for its exact understanding. The following techniques are used: thematic reading, semiotic reading, narratological reading, pragmatic reading, etc.Of all these reading strategies, we affirm that no strategy can be developed outside structuralism. Structuralism is currently proving to be an autonomous current.
