Ehrlichiosis, babesiosis and leishmaniasis are vector-borne diseases with a high incidence in many countries around the world. The causative agent of canine ehrlichiosis is Ehrlichia canis, while Leishmania infantum causes canine visceral leishmaniasis. Babesiosis is another disease caused by haemoparasites, the protozoa of the large Babesia spp family. Diseases caused by haemoparasites can trigger similar clinical and laboratory changes in the host, which can lead to conflicts when it comes to diagnosis. And often, because they share vectors, the animals could be co-infected. In addition, leishmaniasis is a zoonosis that is very harmful to human health. With this in mind, the aim of this study was to assess the occurrence of these diseases in the municipality of Concórdia, in the west of Santa Catarina, using the Indirect Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA), Indirect Immunofluorescence Reaction (RIFI) and Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) tests. This book is aimed at veterinary medicine students, as well as trained professionals and researchers in the field.

The diet of fish is of paramount importance in the regulatory processes of aquatic ecosystems, as it does not denote the availability of food distributed in the habitat as much as the choices made by individuals. This study was carried out in two streams located in the Peixe - Boi river basin / PA, at different stages of anthropization, with the aim of comparing the diet of the ichthyofauna, as well as classifying the species analyzed according to their feeding habits into carnivores, herbivores and omnivores, identifying the origin of the items that these animals feed on, whether they are allochthonous or autochthonous and characterizing how these observations can be made in relation to the fish species present in the streams. The absolute importance of food items can be inferred according to the degree of integrity of the bodies of water. A total of 58 individuals had their stomach contents analyzed, where each item was weighed and identified to the smallest possible taxon, making it possible to calculate their Frequency of Occurrence (Fi), the Volumetric Analysis Index (Vi) and the Absolute Importance Index (AIi).

This dissertation set out to analyze how racism and sexism are (re)produced in the everyday social interactions of black women in the western region of Londrina. These women are part of a social context of inequalities and discrimination based on gender and race, categories of analysis used to think about the problem proposed in this research. The research showed that these forms of discrimination are constantly being experienced, both in terms of gender and race, because while one acts primarily in the domestic sphere, the other emerges in public spaces: work, school, health, among others. These social situations are present in the daily interactions of these black women, as well as many other women, especially black women, in Brazilian society. Even with all the progress made on gender and race issues, as demonstrated in the studies presented in this sociological investigation, it can still be identified that racism and sexism are central elements in the social situations of inequality and discrimination in which black women find themselves inserted in the city of Londrina, a reflection of Brazilian society.

The book "School, social quality in education and teacher training" is the result of a process that has integrated training and professional practice over more than three decades. It is a collection of various articles produced throughout this process, but which reflect current educational issues. The book is structured in such a way that it can be analysed either by reading one of its parts or by analysing the whole, since the parts maintain a dialogue with the whole, although they can also be appreciated in isolation.

It addresses the evaluation that indexers make of the Boletim do Museu Paraense Emílio Goeldi. Human Sciences through bibliometric indicators and citation analysis, which revealed that the publication under study is currently available in six indexing databases: Citas Latinoamericanas en Ciencias Sociales y Humanidades (CLASE), Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), International Bibliography of the Social Sciences (IBSS), Sistema Regional de Información en Línea para Revistas Científicas de América Latina, el Caribe, Espanã y Portugal (LATINDEX), Scopus Elsevier and Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO). Based on the criteria used by the latter (SciELO), the journal was evaluated for the purposes of exemplification, noting that it plays a fundamentally important role in the development of the Human Sciences worldwide, as it publishes unpublished works in this line of research and is linked to a centenary institution as active in the context of scientific communication as the Emílio Goeldi Museum of Pará.

With the present investigation we will learn about the situations suffered by individual taxpayers who only carry out business or professional activities or grant the temporary use or enjoyment of goods, located in the central and parallel streets in the town of El Pitillal, Jalisco of the municipality of Puerto Vallarta in the State of Jalisco. Said taxpayers will be those located in the delimited zone of the parallel streets in the four cardinal points of the main square of said town: to the north, 20 de noviembre Street; to the south, 5 de septiembre Street; to the east, Vicente Guerrero Street and to the west, Hidalgo Street. The parallel streets are the following: To the north, Independencia Street with 20 de noviembre Street; To the south, 5 de mayo Street with 5 de septiembre Street; To the east, Benito Juárez Street with Vicente Guerrero Street and To the west, Emiliano Zapata Street with Hidalgo Street, in connection with the entry into force of the Simplified Trust Regime.

There have been many studies on the effects of cigarette smoke on the cardiovascular system, but there is no information on the possible changes that occur in the hemodynamic, mechanical and morphological functions of the myocardium when smoking/exercise are combined. The aim of this study was to analyze cardiac function and structure by measuring hemodynamics, mechanics and myocardial histological structure. Exposure to cigarette smoke promotes hypertrophy, myocardial fibrosis and an increase in right ventricular systolic pressure. The combination of swimming and smoking intensified myocardial hypertrophy, compromised myocardial contractility and prevented the increase in collagen seen in animals exposed to cigarette smoke alone.

The general objective of this research is to present "The food system of the Zapotec highlanders during the patron saint's feast of the Virgen del Rosario". Its purpose is to demonstrate that the act of eating, not only fulfils a biological question, in this case, it fulfils a social need: that of maintaining a tradition and an identity in spite of being in another territory. In order to do this, a geographical and historical investigation of Cuautepec was carried out, allowing me to understand how the Malacates colony was consolidated, and I also learned that not only Zapotecs from the highlands arrived, but also other migrants.

This paper aims to thread together some ideas to understand and explain the configuration of discourses and social representations in the history of social thought on childhood, starting with colonisation, and the imposition of a hierarchical and authoritarian pattern of power on the family and on indigenous, black and mestizo children, in the process of the coloniality of power and knowledge. Currently, in the social imaginary there are two cultural knots in dispute when it comes to childhood: the relational rationality of the original cultures from the global South; and Western instrumental rationality, which was consolidated in Peru with the social pact of modernity in the 19th century, and which persists to this day.

Germ cell tumors of the mediastinum are rare. They are histologically similar to their primitive gonadal counterparts. Depending on their histogenesis and therapeutic possibilities, they are classified as teratomas, often mature and benign, and non-teratomatous tumors, always malignant, including seminomas and non-seminomatous tumors (NSGTs).Although their diagnostic strategy is well codified, they represent a therapeutic challenge specific to each histological type, combining surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy.

In this paper we will present the discourse of truth according to the first question of De Veritate written by Thomas Aquinas. The choice of this philosopher as the basis for this discourse lies in his detailed thinking, based on a philosophy-theology, which offers us a notion considered to be the best definition on the subject, in fact Thomas in his discourse on truth demonstrates his commitment to truth itself, the First Truth. We will begin the project with a biography of Thomas, succinctly portraying all the difficulties he encountered throughout his earthly journey and his achievements, the fruit of all his work. In the second chapter, we will discuss the gnosiological theory developed by Thomas. This chapter is fundamental for us to arrive at the discussion in the third and final chapter of this work, in which we will focus on the notion of truth developed by the Aquinate. This work shows us the idea that truth undoubtedly has an inexhaustible universal discourse, which encompasses the discourse of physics and metaphysics.

The International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) aim to promote the communication of accounting worldwide and thus contribute to the exchange of capital, with the aim of ensuring the transparency and harmonization of financial statements. This study therefore aims to verify the improvement in Brazilian accounting after the adoption of the International Financial Reporting Standards. In order to achieve the proposed objective, the number of words present in the explanatory notes published in periods before and after the adoption of the IFRS was measured. The sample is made up of companies listed on the Brazilian Stock Exchange in the cyclical consumer sector; the trade subsector and the Textiles, Clothing and Footwear segment in Brazil, excluding the company Grazziotin S.A., since it did not publish its explanatory notes in the years prior to 2010, the year in which publication in accordance with the IFRS became mandatory. A simple linear regression is used to analyze the data, and an additional test is the general average and average per company. The results show that the number of words in the explanatory notes increased after the adoption of IFRS, contributing to more disclosure

Is there congruence between the organisational values shared by management and the human resources policies practised by the organisation? The analysis model allows for an interactive view between organisational values and human resources policies. In order to keep up with the changing scenario in a globalised society, the parameter 'interaction with the community' was added, with a view to measuring values; and the sub-system 'commitment' was included as a new Human Resources process.

In practical applications related to machining a workpiece, the resonance frequency is always an important parameter and must be taken into account. The removal of material is inherent to the entire machining process, so variations in the mass of the workpiece exist. In addition, as part geometry changes, variations in stiffness in a given direction are also present. These two parameters determine the natural frequency of an object and, together with the damping factor, also determine the resonance frequency. In a milling process with tool rotation at constant speed, excitation values close to the resonance frequency of the workpiece (which is always changing as material is removed) can be reached at different times. This condition should be avoided, since a workpiece excited at its resonance frequency tends to reach large vibration amplitudes, which can be catastrophic for the process, resulting in a poor surface finish and, in more critical situations, catastrophic machine and tool failures. In order to avoid excitations under these conditions, numerical simulation is a valid process for predicting the frequencies of vibration.

Specifically, how unprivileged people interact within the legal field, which is alien to them and in which they are markedly disadvantaged compared to other actors, inquiring into the ways in which they give meaning to legal macro-theories for their benefit.

This paper will attempt to explain the position that the state should take in the face of new trends in online communication. Based on a historical review of Argentina, it will demonstrate the position taken by the different governments in the classic media field, in terms of radio and television, and will set out the theoretical content in order to begin to consider whether a legal system is necessary to deal with content on the net or whether the way forward is self-regulation of the sector by its main components. This study will seek to provide the reader with elements of understanding of what has happened in the past, but with the intention of providing resources for the future regarding the advance of audiovisual content on the web. Undoubtedly, from the author's point of view, the new era poses the need to think about what to do with audiovisual content that is conceived and transmitted exclusively on the internet, leaving aside traditional media. This is the challenge that journalists, lawyers and states will have to face in order to ensure that one of the most important values always prevails: freedom of expression.

The book analyses the relationship between culture and soft power, considering its economic and ideological articulation, in the context of the intersection between the Creative Economy and Cultural Diplomacy. The object of the analysis is the public cultural policies for the promotion and dissemination of Brazilian cultural goods abroad, undertaken by the Ministry of Culture and the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, specifically in the period after the creation of the Creative Economy Secretariat, between 2011 and 2015. One of the objectives of the study was to verify the strategic application of culture as a soft power resource by the Brazilian state, in terms of projecting and strengthening its image in the international environment, as well as the search to generate wealth and development through international trade in cultural goods and services. This study also looked at the extent to which inter-institutional liaison has been able to leverage culture in international trade by appropriating the discourse on culture as a soft power resource.

Accounting professionals and managers are experiencing constant evolution, one of which is the new measures adopted by the tax authorities to set up new systems and accessory obligations in order to improve the monitoring of company transactions and avoid fraudulent operations. The newest requirement, called Block K, consists of sending the Production and Inventory Control Record Book to industries and companies treated as industries. This obligation makes it possible to monitor the entire production chain of companies, from the entry of inputs to the finished product. The new measures adopted will have an impact on company procedures, as it will be necessary to review production and stock control management. In view of this, the aim of this study is to demonstrate the perception of accountants and managers regarding the new accessory obligation. In order to achieve the proposed objective, bibliographical research was initially carried out based on books and virtual materials, and a questionnaire was applied to managers and accounting professionals in the city of Nova Serrana-MG, in order to test the hypotheses raised.

This research looks at the social representations of pleasure and suffering at work for psychology trainees in organisations. The aim is to identify them, knowing what pleasure and psychological suffering are at work, what causes workers' pleasure and psychological suffering, to analyse the social representation of pleasure and psychological suffering at work for psychology students doing internships in organisations and to see how these students believe it is possible to enhance pleasure and reduce suffering at work. The theory used is the Psychodynamics of Work. The research is descriptive and exploratory and the approach is qualitative. Semi-structured interviews were carried out and the sample was non-probabilistic, based on accessibility.

Outsourcing has brought about changes in the activities carried out by the Public Administration, which has started to focus intensely on its core activities, handing over the middle activities to private companies through contracts. The management of administrative contracts needs to be in line with the principles of legality, impersonality, morality, publicity and efficiency. This work deals with the management of outsourcing contracts in public administration. The supervision of contracts in public administration in the age of outsourcing, although fundamental to the smooth running of projects and programmes, has not been given the same care and support as the planning of bidding processes. The general objective of this study is to systematically discuss the challenges faced by managers and inspectors of outsourced service contracts. The research took a basic, exploratory and descriptive approach, and was qualitative in nature. Finally, it was concluded that the biggest challenges facing the category today are the lack of qualifications and poor training.

Mining in Colombia represents a high percentage of the national GDP (Gross Domestic Product), however despite the regulations required by the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, concerning occupational safety for mining employees, safety processes are insufficient due to the presence of methane gas and lack of oxygen in coal mining work, which consequently causes accidents such as asphyxia, hypoxia, anoxia, loss of consciousness, death, explosions, fires, among others. The objective of this book is to share with the scientific community the development of a system capable of supporting the process of measuring methane gas and oxygen concentrations and thus preserve the life of one of the most risky work in Colombia.

Based on a debate between René Girard and David Konstan, this book analyses the origin of forgiveness. The debate is justified because biblical hermeneutics and moral philosophy attribute elements of human behaviour to forgiveness. Forgiving and asking for forgiveness are understood as acts of recognising oneself from the other. Forgiveness thus reveals itself in a nexus of otherness whose foundation is the common good.

The valorisation of agricultural biomass waste such as sugar cane bagasse, coconut shells and babassu endocarp is growing all the time. Such lignocellulosic waste has been widely used as a source of raw material (precursors) for the production of porous carbonaceous materials, especially Activated Biocarbons. The great advantage of using such waste is related to the sustainability of the process. The methodology described in this book was developed with sustainability in mind, saving energy and unit operations by subjecting the raw material (biomass) to the carbonisation/physical activation process with water vapour at 800 ºC in a single step. This methodology is, in fact, a technological innovation capable of not relying on chemical reagents such as acids, bases, metal oxides, etc. during the activation process. The production of activated biocarbons with a high specific surface area allows these materials to be widely applied in processes to remove various types of organic/inorganic contaminants from a wide variety of matrices using the adsorption technique.
