The ability of a company to make timely payments, to finance its activities on an extended basis indicates its good financial condition. The financial condition of the enterprise depends on the results of its production, commercial and financial activities. If production and financial plans are carried out successfully, it positively affects the financial position of the enterprise. Systematic profit making is a necessary goal of entrepreneurial activity of any enterprise. Therefore, one of the most important problems for the enterprise is profit maximization, which means creating a strategy to systematically increase profits and minimize costs. This task is multidimensional, that is why it requires a systematic approach for its solution.

This book deals with three issues that we believe should be taken into account by the teacher: the cultural aspects surrounding the student, the way the teacher teaches and how the student learns. In other words, we are dealing here with what should be the main object of the teacher's work: the student's learning. After all, it is desirable that the guiding principle of the teacher's action is learning. The actions, the activities and the way in which the possibility of learning, and in particular the construction of knowledge, is evidenced. But to follow a promising path towards teaching that results in more student learning means understanding that there are various elements that contribute to achieving more effective results. The aim here is to present and problematise some of these elements. Reflections are made on the classroom, the roles of the student and the teacher. Issues such as self-esteem, assessment and pedagogical practices in the classroom are problematised. The relationship between culture and the teaching and learning process is emphasised and highlighted.

Cardiovascular risk analysis has gained momentum in recent years to predict the likelihood of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular events, which may occur in the medium and long term, and which have a major impact on the health status of patients. It is an integrating variable, which provides us, through its components, with the elements on which to develop community intervention strategies to cut the progression of risk to greater consequences.

In Brumadinho's Municipal Education System, the implementation of School Councils is mandatory. However, even after their implementation, the participation of School Councils in school decision-making processes is still small. The research problem was the need for greater School Council participation in these processes. The aim of this work was to understand the factors that promote and/or hinder the participation of the School Council in the decision-making processes of municipal primary schools in Brumadinho/MG, with a view to organising an intervention proposal to strengthen it, using elements from the social management approach and with a view to local development. A case study was used to analyse the documents that regulate the School Council at national and municipal level, and field research was carried out using interviews with 34 full councillors in eight schools in the municipality of Brumadinho/MG. The data was submitted to the content analysis proposed by Bardin (2011).

This paper analyses the territorial aspect of Withholdings at Source in the Industry and Commerce tax and the taxing power of the municipalities in this matter. In order to develop the object of study, a conceptual review of the figure was carried out based on the jurisprudential perspective and the criteria of various authors. In addition, the analysis of cases made it possible to identify gaps in the theoretical application of the concept. To contextualise the analysis, different cases of commercial and service activities were carried out, taking as a reference the Cartagena Agreement (041 of 2006) and the Barranquilla Agreement (030 of 2008).

Although the social exclusion of Blacks and Afro-descendants in Brazil is evident, and calls for public policies to redress social inequality, in particular policies on access to higher education, this issue still provokes a lot of controversy and debate in Brazilian society as to its purpose and efficiency, especially after three public universities pioneered the Quota System programme in 2001, aimed at this assumedly Black population, Afro-descendants. With this in mind, this study, entitled "The Democratisation of Higher Education in Brazil: A Study of the Quota System for Blacks and Afro-descendants at the State University of Bahia (UNEB)", sought to discuss not only the underlying aspects of this process of social exclusion that influenced these public policies, but mainly to explore the results obtained by the research related to the efficiency and weaknesses of the programme, and the academic performance of quota students, offering academics and all those interested in the subject a good opportunity to learn a little more about this universe, and the importance of public policies.

This work is a small contribution to the environment and to technical courses. We have shown that it is possible to reconcile technology with nature. Technological evolution doesn't have to be distanced from the environment. We can work together in favour of quality education that allows science and technology to evolve without neglecting care for our planet. We have to remember that our future depends on taking care of our home!

The book deals with the subject of the relationship between organisations and their different publics, studied in the doctoral research in Social Communication defended by the author. The text moves through different areas of human knowledge: sociology, anthropology, social psychology, economics, administration and social communication. Organisational relationships were analysed in the context of strategic communication, i.e. it describes how organisational relationship actions generate communication strategies that are perceived and understood by the public. The study validated the working hypotheses arising from the integration of categories common to the areas of Public Relations and Relationship Marketing. Five categories were selected: Commitment, Trust, Co-operation, Power and Satisfaction. The qualitative-quantitative research generated 30 organisational relationship variables that were applied and validated for different audiences at a higher education institution, as well as making it possible to assess the perception of different audiences and their degree of understanding of the relationship actions developed by the organisation.

This paper analyses the novel Faraón Angola by the Valle del Cauca author Rodrigo Parra Sandoval. Three aspects are taken into account. The first, education as a liberating project for the human being through the archetypal school La Paloma. The second is the analysis of memory (taking into account the theory of the French anthropologist Jöel Candau) based on the process of reinventing the past through the creation of stories by the protagonist, Micaela, to achieve a life project and transform her reality. The last analysis is a comparative literature between the novel María by Jorge Isaacs and Faraón Angola, in which Rodrigo Parra Sandoval's novel is proposed as a subversive rewriting of María, in which a new heroine is presented who triumphs thanks to her courageous love: Micaela. The present work highlights Rodrigo Parra Sandoval's research and literary work, while at the same time providing a novel analysis of Jorge Isaacs' novel.

This book is the result of research carried out during my master's degree in History at UNIOESTE. Its source and object are the magazines Nova Cosmopolitan and Playboy from the 1970s. Through a qualitative study, the discourses of Nova and Playboy on beauty, sensuality, sexuality and behaviour were analysed in order to understand how these two magazines gave meaning to gender identities.Nova Cosmopolitan wrote for women who were entering the labour market and were single, it tried to show that maintaining a lasting relationship with a fixed partner and building a solid career were synonymous with fulfilment, it taught how women should take care of their beauty and maintain a certain conduct in their relationships. Playboy was aimed at single men who sought pleasure as a way of life. Its pages featured information on sex and relationships and how men could overcome their insecurities in order to win over women. Sensuality was the characteristic valued by both, as they created idealised images of male and female bodies.

Death and dying is a unique event, impersonal and irremediably associated with the life cycle. The way we understand it has changed over time, particularly in societies where technological advances prevail. Death has been stripped of customs and the home, to the detriment of the cold, impersonal hospital. Intensive care units provide care for potentially life-threatening patients. They are equipped with an advanced set of surveillance, monitoring and therapeutic resources that are essential for the patient's haemodynamic sustainability. Nursing is a discipline of knowledge that bases its process on "caring for others" throughout their life cycle. Intensive care nurses must have a set of competences that allow them to master the technology at their disposal in order to act in a timely manner. Death occurs with some frequency in intensive care and, in this sense, the nurse who masters technology is the same one who must relegate the curative plan to the use of palliative actions, where the humanisation of care and communication with the family are the main working tools.

The general aim of this study is to identify which socio-economic indicators are related to the level of fiscal transparency in municipalities. An unintentional, probabilistic sample of 360 municipalities, stratified according to Brazilian state, was used. The multiple linear regression technique was used to check which variables were related to public transparency. By analysing the municipalities' electronic portals, the average transparency score was 3.76, lower than the state average. The low level of transparency corroborates the assumptions of Public Choice Theory: for the manager, poorly informed voters "facilitate" the acceptance of a manager by the population, allowing the manager to gain the trust of these unsuspecting voters.

A detailed assessment of the costs of moving materials, equipment and people on a construction site tends to be difficult to realise, and is often only estimated in a generalised way. Some factors can be listed as reducing the ability to forecast these costs, such as: difficulties in cataloguing what will be moved, the quantity of materials to be moved, the number of people in the work teams. Therefore, the book aims to analyse the influence of the movement of materials and people on the arrangement of building elements such as pillars on a construction site and to assess their influence on the overall cost of the work.

The aim of this research is to explore a little-studied topic, namely the role of legislative advisors in their institutional and political functions. To this end, the work focused on the offices of the senators who made up the Frente Para la Victoria - PJ bloc of the Argentinean Senate. In-depth interviews were carried out with the chief advisors, heads of offices and/or advisors of each of the nine senators who make up the bloc. From these interviews it was possible to carry out an analysis of their role, tasks and functions.A study of the scarce bibliography on the subject was also carried out, which highlights a perspective in which the legislative advisor is ideally seen as a politically neutral technician or criticised for a supposed lack of professional preparation for the function he or she is supposed to perform. As a result of this research, it has been possible to question these ideas.

This writing aims to blacken and purple legal thinking, to problematise the approach to human rights from a perspective based on race, gender and sexuality. When the same fundamentalist discourse preaches hatred of dissident sex/gender people and promotes the reduction of the age of criminal responsibility, the political intersection becomes theoretical. Thus, this research studies the agency of the Guardianship Council in cases that deal with the issue of sexual/gender diversity in the city of Juazeiro, located in the São Francisco Valley, in the hinterland of Bahia. The socio-legal history of black, indigenous and mixed-race children and adolescents was marked by disciplinary institutes, hygienist discourses and the military dictatorship's child welfare policy, constituting a device for social control over bodies, especially those of peripheral black youths in the period after the formal abolition of slavery. The question we are asking is: to what extent does the guardianship council regulate the production of gender and sexuality in children and adolescents subject to its full protection?

The psychiatric reform made it possible to treat people with mental disorders in community health services, increasing the conditions for women suffering from mental illness to start families and raise their children. The aim of this book was to identify associations between the parenting practices of mothers with mental disorders, social support and socio-economic conditions and to verify possible differences between the parenting practices of mothers with mental disorders and healthy mothers. The results show, among other things, greater dissatisfaction with the social support received by families whose mothers have a mental disorder, and that in these families, fathers are less responsive than fathers in the comparison group. The study also found that mothers in the comparison group are more demanding and responsive than mothers in the study group; that mothers in both groups are more responsive and more demanding with younger children and that family economic situation also influences maternal care. It can be concluded that mental illness influences mothers' care actions.

In this work, analytical methods based on the concept of multicommutation were developed for analysing chemical species in food. To this end, two materials were synthesised: a coordination compound used as a solid phase in the determination of reducing sugars and a silica network used as a preconcentration resin for perchlorates. The copper (II) - 4,4 '- bipyridine coordination compound was used to develop the method for determining reducing sugars in coconut water and juices using a multicommutated flow system with spectrophotometric detection. The analysis methodology was based on the oxy-reduction reaction in an alkaline medium between the solid reagent and the reducing sugars. The reaction between the solid phase (coloured blue) and (glucose + fructose) results in a yellowish product, monitored at 420 nm. The solid phase was set at 50 mg and a temperature of 90ºC.

The purpose of this book is to make known the inconsistencies in the accounts receivable. Knowing the importance of being able to communicate the operational work performed by each area, because due to this reason, the inconsistencies in accounts receivable are dragging a bad management and application of accounting accounts, these being the areas of logistics, finance and commercial, which do not perform the correct procedures, performing their work empirically. Also, this study was carried out for the following reasons which were to make known that in the entity and others in general that are small companies, there is no analysis of accounts receivable, there is no flow chart of obligations by area, there is no area of credits and collections, nor does it have an area of billing, also the lack of time and professional knowledge, empirical learning has led to a lack of commitment to be able to instruct and communicate on the operations carried out. Another of the inconsistencies for accounts receivable to become uncollectible is because the commercial and logistics area does not communicate about the operational sales they carry out.

The objective of this research was to understand the construction of the identity of a woman who has belonged to the FARC and who completed a reintegration process, taking into account the impact generated from the change in the relational dynamics in the transition from the armed group to the context, taking into account the element of temporality. The case study was used as a method, making use of the in-depth interview as a technique, together with the development of an activity that implied the making of a drawing representing herself and the use of graphs that represented women with different roles. For the analysis of the results, the transcription of the two interviews was organised into a matrix organised by categories, responding to the stipulations of the disciplinary framework, and the data was analysed using content analysis techniques. Subsequently, the most striking accounts, in line with the object of the research, were described and interpreted in the narrative of the results. It was concluded that the construction of the woman's identity changed once she became a participant in new relationship dynamics in her family.

In order to implement civil works such as hydraulic projects, underground projects and any other project that requires knowledge of the local slope, there is a need for precise knowledge of the normal altitude, which must be known and referenced to the Brazilian Geodetic System (SGB). This can be determined by the absolute method using Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) signals or by the relative method using geometric levelling. Geometric levelling helps to describe the behaviour of the orthometric altitude (H), which takes into account the acceleration of gravity, so it is possible to know the direction of flow characterised by the displacement of water in a given stretch according to the slope of the terrain, which is determined by the difference in level between two points. Refining the geoidal model and creating an anomaly model makes it possible to improve the quality of the values for direct application in converting ellipsoidal altitudes (h) into normal and orthometric altitudes. Techniques inherent to geometric geodesy were used to refine the models using geostatistics.

The great competition that currently exists between companies means that they are increasingly looking to offer customers a competitive price and the best way to reduce prices is by eliminating existing waste, when it comes to a production process. The Lean Manufacturing philosophy treats everything that doesn't add value to the product as waste and must be eliminated in order to have a lean process. This work uses Value Stream Mapping (VSM), which is a tool that helps to analyse and visualise the critical points in the process. The study was applied to a company in Manaus that manufactures digital cameras and sought to identify problems, eliminate waste, reduce costs and thereby increase the added value of the process.

To increase our scientific and technological knowledge more and more, without basing it on true human values: liberty, equality, fraternity (already 200 years old), peace of mind, love and harmony (already more than 2000 years old), is to rush headlong towards the abyss. We are saturated with atomic bombs, missiles, destruction, poisons, superfluous and polluting articles, shortages and luxuries, hunger and unemployment. Where is the scientific rationality, the heart of the university teaching of this society? in it, some bask in luxury, others vegetate or badly survive. Some end up dying of starvation or easily controllable diseases (if there were decent health systems), some have post-doctorate degrees and for what? To speed up the process, i.e. "progress". We believe, however, that many people, inside and outside the university, are rebelling against this irrational and inhuman way of life. Their sensitivity and conscientization tell them that this cannot be the only way to live. In the meantime, they suffer in silence because they cannot see how to get out of prison, nor which alternative can be tempted.

The UEMOA zone is characterized by a low bank penetration rate of 12%, revealing the exclusion of a large part of the population from financial systems. This exclusion particularly concerns farmers, women, young people and very small enterprises (VSEs). Faced with this situation of low financial inclusion in the WAEMU, and more specifically in Benin, the Agence Française de Développement (AFD) has set up a project to facilitate access to financial services for VSEs in Benin. This is the Projet d'Appui à la Mésofinance (PAMESO), financed by the European Union, whose aim is to help strengthen the fabric of small businesses by facilitating their access to bank financing. Orabank Benin, following a tender launched by AFD, was selected to benefit from a grant to finance a technical assistance mission for its downscaling strategy. This assistance was provided by the Agence des Banques Populaires pour la Coopération et le Développement de France. The aim of this brief is to present the strategy that the bank will deploy after the departure of the technical assistants.
