Global trade logistics is intrinsically linked to countries' ability to ship and receive a wide variety of products. Ports, especially maritime ports, are an excellent transport route, receiving millions of tons of materials such as fuel, food, electronic products, clothing, etc. However, during the movement of consumer goods, many types of waste are generated and require strategic management in order to protect terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems from any type of contamination. Thus, the management of shipboard waste in seaports is essential to mitigate environmental impacts due to the receipt, transportation, packaging and final disposal of this waste, since many of them are classified as hazardous.

The Public Administration is in charge of distributing public money, investing in products and services necessary to satisfy the needs of society. To this end, bidding processes are launched, through which the State "chooses" (based on a series of characteristics and conditions set forth in the bidding documents) the person(s) or company(ies) suitable to carry out the service, the work, or the product that most closely meets the State's demand. As mentioned above, the bidding documents contain the basic characteristics that the purchase or contract must have in order to be awarded. Therefore, what is proposed in the manuscript is the implementation of a type of bidding process that, in addition to meeting the needs to be satisfied, takes into account environmental protection characteristics and rewards innovation and sustainability of the product or service contracted.

Our study focuses on Cicero's discourse through his theoretical works on rhetoric ( Brutus, Orator and Oratore) and his practical speeches as a politician and lawyer ( In Verrem I, In Catilinam I, Pro Archia, Pro Flacco and Pro Milone). We have developed two main themes:the principles of rhetoric in general and those of Cicero in particular, and a detailed analysis of his practical speeches cited above, with the sole aim of reconciling theory and practice.

This is a study on the processes of change that occur in the structure and organisation of certain Mexican petrochemical companies. Fundamentally, such changes should be understood as successive adaptations to changes in their environment. The main objective of the study is the analysis of power relations, as these determine the viability of the changes. For the handling of the empirical materials and the analysis of the logic of change I propose a formal model in which I interrelate some key propositions. These are: technological system, firm, entrepreneurs, power, and formal and informal relations. I use the theoretical and methodological tradition of Social Anthropology to try to explain the processes of social and cultural change linked to technological change that are currently shaking the world. That is to say, I consider the latter and the economic ones in their social and cultural dimension. My intention is to contribute to the demonstration of the viability of the discipline to explain not only the social processes of traditional societies, but also of complex societies.

The impacts of resettlements resulting from the implementation of large mining projects do not always bring development to the displaced communities. This situation has taken a significant toll on the local population in recent years. For a better understanding of the research, it is understood that the participation of the local population in decision-making on sustainable development helps their well-being and is a way for everyone to benefit. It should be noted that in order to reverse the obstacles that development has encountered in the past, it is first and foremost necessary to have sufficient resources to be able to decisively tackle the construction of ambitious infrastructure plans that serve as a support for solving community problems.

This book reflects on the post-agreement in Colombia and the new Challenges of Education for Peace; Colombia is living a historic moment after the signing of the peace agreement with the FARC-EP guerrilla on November 24, 2016, so it is an imperative need for all Colombians to understand that it is possible to live in a country free of armed conflict and that one of the means to achieve this purpose is education for peace and the willingness of every human being to accept and respect the other.

This work arises from a point of interest of a socio-economic and cultural nature initiated through extension research carried out at the State University of Feira de Santana (UEFS), a Brazilian public institution of higher education based in the city of Feira de Santana, located in the agreste region of Bahia. A spatial analysis of the areas affected by extreme hydrological events in the city of Feira de Santana (BA) was carried out by spatialising rainfall data from weather station 83221 (INMET/UEFS) from 2016 to 2017 and associating it with the distribution of flooding events provided by the Civil Defence of Feira de Santana. The spatial analysis of events revealed the existence of more vulnerable areas in the urban space, with chronic problems. In this way, the integration of an information system has made it possible to establish a hierarchy in decision-making in relation to the city's most critical drainage points, helping the Civil Defence and City Hall to act.

In dieser Arbeit wird versucht, aus soziologischer Sicht die Instrumentalisierung des Rechts durch die Justizakteure im Zusammenhang mit der Reform des Strafvollzugs in Buenos Aires im Jahr 1997 zu untersuchen. Dabei handelt es sich um ein Feld politischer und symbolischer Auseinandersetzungen, das für die gegenwärtige Situation von großer Bedeutung ist, aber von den Intellektuellen in unserem Land vernachlässigt wurde. Von hier aus werden wir speziell in die täglichen Erfahrungen derjenigen eintauchen, die mit der Umsetzung des Gesetzes in der Reform betraut sind. Wir werden verschiedene Handlungsebenen unterscheiden, die die Reform der Strafprozessordnung der Provinz Buenos Aires im Jahr 1997 in Gang gesetzt haben. Diese wird als Ergebnis einer Rückständigkeit und einer ständigen Zunahme der Ineffizienz der Justizverwaltung gesehen, die 1995, als die Kommission für die Ausarbeitung des Gesetzentwurfs gegründet wurde, offiziell vorausgesehen wurde.

Currently, there are a number of quantitative and qualitative methods for assessing fire risk, but it is difficult to decide which method to use. Therefore, we provide risk specialists working on the front line with a guide to help them select a suitable method for assessing fire risks in residential buildings that is cost-effective and feasible to apply. In addition, we provide a comparative study applied to the same facility that allows to observe the similarities, differences and contrast the results in order to establish guidelines for the selection of a method that ensures an adequate cost-benefit combination.

Guinea-Bissau has experienced chronic political instability since the implementation of democracy in 1994, with a civil war, several coups d'état, assassinations and constant changes of presidents and governments. The country is among the poorest and most corrupt in the world, and has one of the lowest HDIs in the world. This paper aims to analyze the impact of chronic political instability on Guinea-Bissau's economic development, to understand whether it is the cause of the country's extreme poverty over the years. On the other hand, it seeks to understand its relationship with widespread corruption and a low level of bank credit in the country, and also to see what is the transmission channel from instability to economic growth in Guinea-Bissau.The methodology used is based on case studies, combining data from the country with data from interviews with some of the country's personalities.The result shows that chronic political instability is the cause of low economic development and extreme poverty in Guinea-Bissau.

Morbidity and mortality due to occupational causes mean that health professionals in multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary teams have no choice but to act. Epidemiologically, in industrialised countries occupational dermatoses account for 60% of occupational diseases and chemical agents represent the most important etiology of the disease. Occupational dermatosis (OD) arises from an alteration directly or indirectly caused by occupational agents, the main dermatoses being irritant and allergic contact dermatitis, phytodermatitis, acnes, malignant neoplasms, foreign body granulomas, among others. Contact tests are the gold standard for treatment and prevention, the latter being perpetuated through collective and individual measures, through the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). ODs deteriorate quality of life through the morbidity they generate and the disability they cause, which can culminate in altered function, reduced productivity and income, as well as overloading the medical and social security system.

Entrepreneurship is one of the most significant activities today for the emergence of new or complementary industries that create jobs and boost the economy of countries. These types of projects are generally developed by young people who seek to generate added value to ideas already conceived or who find different ways of using traditional products. The conditions of the countries are key to the development of entrepreneurship, but this does not mean that only in developed countries can this type of initiative take place, as in developing countries there are high rates of entrepreneurship thanks to the support provided by the government or private companies, such as loans, incentives, consultancy, among others.

Nowadays, the situation of the electric energy markets has required distribution and transmission companies to improve the efficiency of their services and thus reduce costs to a minimum. In the case of ENAP, which owns its substations, the competition of its dependent markets also obliges it to have a reliable energy supply at the lowest possible cost, since the economic factor is always relevant. That is why preventive maintenance costs and the cost of lost production in the event of a power supply failure are of vital importance, with adequate preventive maintenance plans and testing techniques as advanced as possible to determine with the greatest certainty the condition of a substation's equipment. The objective is to analyze, using the Digsilent program, the possible interconnection of the substations to reduce the load of S/E N°1 and thus have the possibility in the future to disconnect each of the transformers to perform comprehensive maintenance on the transformers of S/E N°1, using the power of the transformer of S/E N°2.

At present, the need has arisen to find alternative natural coagulants in the potabilization of water so that it complies with the established physical, chemical and microbiological parameters and can be considered suitable for human consumption, due to the relationship established by some research studies between the chemical coagulant Al2(SO4)3 and Alzheimer's disease. For this reason, studies have been carried out on the application of natural coagulants to make water drinkable. The objective of this study was to evaluate the coagulant potential of Opuntia ficus-indica in its dried form in the clarification of water with low turbidity. The experimental procedure was carried out in the laboratory by preparing synthetic waters with turbidity levels of 20 and 40 UNT, which were characterized physicochemically. From the dried parenchymatous tissue, a coagulating mixture of O. ficus-indica at 8 % m/v was prepared. Subsequently, the coagulation-flocculation, sedimentation and filtration stages were simulated.

This work is made up of three studies that discuss, respectively, arbitration as a solution to the crisis in the Brazilian judiciary, self-composed means of resolving conflicts and the controversial issue of using arbitration in family law. Brazil has had such institutes in its history since the colonisation period, as disputes over Brazilian territory, which became the private property of the colonisers, were settled through arbitration. However, the Brazilian state retreated from using these means of resolving conflicts because, under the aegis of the Judiciary in the administration of justice, these procedures were forgotten. Today, the so-called "crisis of justice" is increasingly on the political and academic agenda. Society, especially low-income families, is dissatisfied with the public justice service, which does not adequately meet their needs. Solving this problem is a challenge to be overcome in a complex and co-ordinated way, which should not at any time prevent various measures from being taken, as long as real access to justice for all citizens is maintained as a priority.

This paper presents a proposal for robust optimisation modelling applied to the uncertain problem of contracted active power demand faced by high-voltage consumers charged under the conventional system, who can establish demand contracts of between 30 and 300 kW, located in the Manaus Industrial Pole - PIM/AM.

The tax reforms of the last decade have been supported by the national government under the need to obtain greater revenues in order to avoid a fiscal crisis, a brake on development, an unmanageable economic and social situation and an unsustainable level of indebtedness. In effect, the proposals presented by the government have ended up being temporary reforms that temporarily increase revenues through withholdings, tariff increases or new taxes, after which it is concluded that the reform is temporary and it is necessary to make a new one in the following period. However, with the issuance of Law 1819 of 2016 it is intended to change this situation but the characteristics that are evident point to the conclusion that the approved reform has some structural elements but still lacks a comprehensive structure that remains in time and encourages investment.

The aim of this work is to discuss and understand Capoeira as a fundamental element in the expansion of Physical Education for the transformation of Brazilian Basic Education. Capoeira is part of the culture of a people and this cultural heritage is given by the elements used within a process of social transformation. Not forgetting that the art of capoeira is education, culture, musicality, body language and, above all, it brings values from our ancestors in and to the history of Brazil, contributing to the full development of the student, with a view to acquiring knowledge and skills in the formation of attitudes and values. Capoeira is genuinely Brazilian and comes in many shapes and colours and is sometimes seen as a game, a dance and/or even a fight. In this way, valuing the fundamentals of Capoeira is valuing Brazilian popular culture!

Globalocal: spatialities and identities is a work that highlights the analysis of discourses around security from a socio-political approach. The aim is to reveal the narrative positioning of key informants with respect to the quality of public services that the state provides as rights of access to information, but reduces to a political or media agenda. The reader will notice that the distance between the global and the local is shortened by taking into account that both dimensions are axes and topics of discussion of an emerging citizenship in the face of an omnipresent and all-powerful state.

The organisation of this book containing different themes on education and school was conceived with the aim of disseminating the writings of fellow teachers in continuing education. From this perspective, the chapters recorded here were written at different times between 2014 and 2016, but they represent the efforts of educators who are concerned about their pedagogical work and the search for better theoretical/practical conditions for their professional practice.

This book aims to stimulate reflection on commitment, on the thought of Simone Weil, for social democracy and for tropicalized capitalism. This work also reveals from Senegal, a West African country, facts universally not isolated from the political party on political dialogue and elections, on stratagems and conflicts between politicians, a name attributed to members of political parties. He recommends non-partisan civil governance of the State which does not crush the political party but which dominates it in order to extract from it this ¿surplus value¿ arising from the surplus work of its specialization on public or even political matters. This civil movement should have a ¿universal¿ scope because it is ¿necessary¿ as Aristotle Aristidis recommends.

Collaborative work supported by technology has allowed us to leave aside the traditional use of paper and pencil in the development of writing, thus achieving the interaction of all educational actors. This virtual space, through Google Drive, and with the guidance of their tutor, promotes and motivates students to construct coherent and cohesive paragraphs. It is remarkable how each of the members participate proactively within a pleasant environment, where technology plays a key role in this teaching-learning process of a second language and specifically in the construction of paragraphs.

Making symbolic and conceptual abstractions, with artistic drawing as a means of expression, using the different aesthetic phenomena, such as beauty, harmony, symmetry and balance, will help the student to develop a cognitive transformation, in the formation of criteria, principles, attitudes and values that will be reflected socially. Drawing is a form of communication, it has metaphorical and narrative capacity (elements of language), it is a tool capable of being placed in dialogic scenarios between student teachers and students, which enables the construction of meaning of both actors in the teaching-learning process. It is possible to participate in the learning that artistic drawing produces, to the extent that a learning culture is acquired in accordance with the culture to which one belongs. Finally, it is possible to help increase the knowledge and practices of today's society, with one of the most ancient, current, universal and creative languages: artistic drawing.

The discipline reflected on the current management of companies in the city of Cordoba with regard to their social participation in the generation of work and job placement for homeless people. This idea arose from conceptualising organisations as social actors with a concrete influence on the community; hence the need to contrast an ideal state between the actions of companies on the one hand, and the reality of the city of Cordoba on the other.

This thesis attempts to explore, from a sociological perspective, the instrumentation of law by judicial operators in the context of the reform of the Buenos Aires penal system in 1997. This is a field of political and symbolic dispute that is extremely important for the current situation but which has been neglected by intellectuals in our country. From here, we will dive specifically into the daily experience of those who are the operators in charge of implementing the law in the reform. We will distinguish different levels of action that set in motion the Reform of the Code of Criminal Procedure of the Province of Buenos Aires in 1997. This is seen as the result of a backwardness and constant increase in the inefficiency of the administration of justice, officially foreseen in 1995, when the drafting commission of the bill was created.

Madagascar is home to over 90% of endemic plant and animal species. Unfortunately, animals and plants are threatened with extinction due to anthropic pressures. Consequently, action has been taken to ensure the survival of these species, including the classification of certain zones as protected areas, such as national parks. This study attempts to assess the socio-economic impact of natural resource conservation actions on the population living along the Marojejy National Park. According to the literature review and the results of the field survey in the three villages of Mandena, Manantenina and Ambohimanarina, the study's findings show that, despite the food shortages and low incomes that drive local residents to exploit natural resources, they are aware of the importance of conserving the park insofar as it improves their quality of life and ensures their ecological, economic and socio-cultural survival. It was therefore with the aim of uncovering shortcomings and proposing alternatives that we decided to carry out such a study.

For the peoples of Mexico, the defense of their lands has been very important, because their subsistence depends on it. With the Spanish conquest (1521), communal lands were converted into private properties, giving rise to feudal haciendas at the beginning of the 17th century. This is how the hacienda of Jalapilla arose, with a modest territorial extension, which by 1810 in the midst of the Revolution of Independence reached an approximate area of 1700 hectares. Although it is true that capitalism emerged in the mid-19th century and by its nature demanded the privatization of the lands of civil and ecclesiastical corporations, but given its weakness, at the beginning it concentrated on the nationalization of the territorial goods of the church, postponing the privatization of the communal lands during Porfirism, so that by 1910 the hacienda of Jalapilla had reached an approximate extension of 5000 hectares at the expense of the communal lands of San Andres Ixtlahuaca. Only the Revolution of 1910-1917, made possible the endowment in 1929 of 1440 hectares of ejido lands to San Andrés Ixtlahuaca.

Public procurement in Colombia has been constantly transformed by successive regulatory changes that have sometimes made its development difficult. In order to make contributions in this area, this research seeks to develop an analysis of the contributions and limitations of Decree 1510 of 2013 in public procurement in the country. Through a qualitative-descriptive methodology, a documentary review was carried out to determine the impacts of the aforementioned decree on issues such as corruption and at the same time to establish some conclusions on the application of this regulation in the nature of public procurement in the country.

Hemorrhagic cerebrovascular accidents (HCAs) represent a major public health challenge worldwide, given their high morbidity and mortality. The aim of this manual is to present the different epidemiological, diagnostic, etiological, evolutionary and prognostic aspects of stroke, including intracerebral and meningeal hemorrhage, as well as their therapeutic management.
